Expansions worth it?

I am about burnt out on Everquest. I beta tested AO and played for about 2 months, then quit. Now I have came back to check this back out. I only have the original game, thats it.

I looked on ebay to see the expansions, and found several cheap. But are they worth it?

Also, I looked at the price per month, $14.95, WTF. Is this because they put a internet tax in Europe?

    depends on your cup of tea, if you like EQ style play then SL is for you

    if you like pvp, the notum wars is absolutely a must have (not just fro perks either, tower battles are just plain fun)

    Ok, just for my information.

     

    You have Shadowlands expansion and you have Alien Invasion here to come.

    Are there any more expansions? I thought there was another one that gave you the ability to have  town or something like that. Am I correct?

    In Alien invasion players will be abel to own towns.

    Yes there is, its called Notum Wars. But you wont have to buy that if you buy SL. The booster pack is included in the SL expansion pack.

    Yup ::::21:: Price per month used to be more like 13 euros but then some kind of eViL VAT came and now it costs 15 euro :(


    And for your question if its worth it. IMO it is, you dont only get pretty landscapes and cool monster to kill ( for good exp too). But you also get things like composite buffs. Those buffs will save A LOT on your NCU.

    you don't get towns with Notum Wars
    you get "Towers" for pvp etc etc
    Alien Invasions is enables people to build towns

    Notum Wars was pretty kool, all the organisation/clan tower battles and stuff, great fun, but Shadowlands was like they had sucked the fun out of a mmorpg and made it a camp fest, thank god theres always classic AO to go back to when your pissed off at camping for you new uber armor or weps.

    The expansion for the Notum Wars was fantastic, but Shadowlands is pretty much disappointing.  Its too much dungeons and dragons for a game that is sci fi based.  You end up fighting Ice Gollums for crying out loud.  If I wanted that I would play Dark Ages of Camelot (a great game anyway..)  But anyway, the Shadowlands does have some very nice updates to the graphics engine and some pretty sweet new toys for your characters, but overall its all EQ style camping for special items and quests that don't really matter too much to me.  The next expanision will really deliver and do justice to the AO theme.  Its a step in the right direction anway, Alien Invasion.  Now that is a sci fi title and I am looking forward to that.

    i pretty much did stop playing after shadowlands....how can you take yalmaha away from players who had been playing for 2 years and make them walk everywhere

    They sucked all of the fun out of Shadowlands. When I first had a chance to look around I was impressed by the graphics and scenery but it was laggy as hell (well it was the first day it was out). I tryed shadowlands for a while thinking it was going to get better but it never did. I have nothing against fantasy as I usually love fantasy games but as AO is a sci-fi game making a fantasy style expansion pack to go with it was terrible. The roleplaying community in AO is now all but gone and all I see are these level 200+ people going round going "Look at my armor, I'm uber, im going to kick your ass". It gets annoying after a while thats why a lot of hardcore AO fans left the game. Most of the players now came when shadowlands was released and a lot of pre-shadowlands players left. When I want to camp for hours on end I will go play EQ thanks. And if I want to play a fantasy game I will go play a game that is actually supposed to be fantasy, not a sci-fi game trying to be fantasy.

    I've probably repeated everything twice but thats because AO+NW were the life of the game and now SL has just sucked all that out.
