Does anyone know about world of warcraft (wow) pay monthly charges because i was just wondering if i hosted a server and played on it would  i still have to pay the monthly charge rate or not  ?imageimage

    If you mean hosting a private server that isnt not connected to Blizz servers then now you dont. keep in mind your not supposed to do that

    Paying the monthly fee only affects your account in relation to the WoW login server. If you were connecting to a separate server, your account on WoW's official servers would have no bearing on whether or not you could play.

    I would like to point out, though, that using WoW's software to create a private server is illegal, and continuance of the discussion on these forums is likely to get you banned. If you were to host a server privately, theoretically Blizzard could request your personal information from your ISP and sue you for loss of subscription fees.

    That report was untrue!
     Its not illegal to make a private server because
    they wouldn't make software to support it.Maxmojo is a program what
    can create a private server for you and your friends to connect to
    when ever you want, with no monthly charge rate and the game its self  WOW
    is over 2.0 gig so it will have all the worlds built into the main frame of it.
    So all you have to do is host it and maxmojo side steps the matter of paying monthly charge rate
    so there you go people who dont want to pay a monthly charge rate make your own server and
    invite your friends and family two it ITS NOT ILLEGAL !
    Some person on a website told me about this and max mojo is amazing no need to pay monthly
    charge rate any more.

    How can it be illegal when your  hosting your own server, you buy there game and host a server so you dont log onto there blizzard servers, then it will not cost i dont yet know how it works yet but ill find out because someone sent me an email about it.imageimage

     Most private servers suck anyways, id rather pay monthly.

    Lol some of them do but my friend hosts them anyways he makes them really good he used to work for unreal tournament lol imageimage thanks

    If you're planning to play by yourself, then I guess your safe. The minute you let someone else play on your server, you've committed theft because you are denying blizzard the money they would have made from that other person. Doesn't matter in the slightest if that other person would have paid to play on their official servers or not. There is a reason private servers are not talked about here. Because regardless of the many ways people try to spin 'em to make them sound legit, they are not.

    As far as i'm aware priavate servers are only "legal" as long as you don't charge for them. So they are usually very poor and most of the time 2-3 or more patches behind the official servers of thoes games they are running. Knowing bliz they will know where all the private servers are and as soon as they charge money they will sue them and end up owning the shirt and skin off their backs,

    Yer well if you play with your friends only and dont make them pay for it then you can get away with it
    i would of thought later on im gonna send an email to blizzard to see if they would let me or not!

    you are not allowed to run the server-software, cause you have no license.
    And Blizzard won't give it to you...ask them^^
    You are even not allowed to have the server software, cause Blizzard doesn't give it to you...ask them. ::::12::

    im going to send them an email in 10 mins i would say if you bought it and made your own online lan server its free but you have to play on your own not with anyone else ! what does everyone else think the will say?imageimageimageimage

    Private servers ROCKimage, they are free, fun, and people are friendly. Plus you have a fair chance of becoming a GM on them.

    It is free to host says blizzard but you have to keep within a limit lan server rate and yes the software is not illegal because you couldnt build it other wise you noob imageimageimageimage

    So where exactly is this program that blizzard is handing out so people dont have to pay to play their game?

    WoW is the best MMORPG out there, in my opinion, but pay for play games are gay and evil and have to die
