I'm too addicted. The game's just too fun! And with the expansion soon to come, I don't think I'm going to be paying anything else for a while.
Anyone else have this kind of addiction?
EDIT: Meant to post this in the WoW forum. Anyway to delete a post?

I know first hand the addiction of Warcrack. I have played it on again/ off again so many times now that it isn't funny. The ironic thing is that I really don't think it is any better than most of the other MMOs I have played yet it is the one that always draws me back for some reason.
I had recently quit for about a month and just last night I went to get on and found that my account had been hacked. I guess I picked up a freaking keylogger somewhere. Anyway they deleted my main (Orc Warlock) and I am trying to get Blizz to restore the character. Once they do, darn it if I will not be back playing WoW again. I play way too many MMOs (playing like four right now) but WoW usually ends up taking the majority of my gaming time.
I feel your pain dude.

I found the game boring as hell almost all of the way through, the battlegrounds and PvP sucked outrageously and at endgame almost everyone looks the same. Other than some half-decent times in Hillsbrad ...
This was probably the least addictive MMO I have ever played
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
I really don't know what the secret is. I have played dozens of MMOs and nothing compares to the WoW addiction (at least in my book). I never fell into the Evercrack addition in the same way. Maybe it is because WoW is so simple and that simplicity makes it that much easier to drop back into the game even after a few months away.

It is precisely that feeling of addictive fun that all of us are looking for.
With me it was DAoC.
For almost three years I didn't need to buy any other game but finally I suppose I just burned out on it
If WoW is what does it for you then get stuck in and enjoy it.
uhm world of warcraft is terrible. I can't stand that game. It's the most boring , generic , static mmorpg I've ever platet. I got sick of it after only 3-4 weeks.
One day Blizzard is going to end up getting sued big time.. all they do is copy everyone elses ideas.
really the game is nice have nice things and its quite fun in the 1st hour or two but for ppl that cant play more then 3 hours a day its just crap even a balanced AV takes more than that

Though, the final nail in the coffin was a few weeks back. I want to
enjoy other games aswell, and I don't think I can do that whilst
playing WoW.
Sadly, but I know what you are talking about. I can't play medi-core in WoW. If I play, I want to go in 100% in it.

Its all about opinion. Games, music, etc. Saying one is better over another is like me saying,
"Try an onion, you'll love it."
People like what they like. If a game has you enjoying yourself, more power to you. Thats what we are all in it for anyway. I play WoW, but I find my biggest problem to be with the community of the game in general. And stack on top of that my preference to roleplay my character and you can see my meaning. Even on the RP servers theres alot of insults and negative behavior. Not to mention people who play on the RP servers simply so they can cause grief. But, even though I have alot of horror stories, Ive restarted my account 3 times. Its a pretty casual game, and for someone with a steady job I can log on for an hour before bed and still feel I accomplished something. In the long run, Id have to say I enjoyed DAOC more. My fiance and I were in a great guild, and eventually she became the leader and we had some great PVP, raids, guild hunts. But its all releative to the player.
Play what you like, man. Enjoy and have fun. That goes for everyone.

WoW is alright sometimes. If you can get into a good guild and make some friends on the way, then it will prolly end up being very fun. You dont always have to just grind, quest, raid, or lvl.
I have to ask though Googelz, have you even tried the other mainstream MMOs?
If not, most of them have a free trial, look around before becoming too entrenched. Ive seen a lot of players go for WOW first, never try anything else for months, then are totally surprised when they do find a game they really like.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Enjoy it while it lasts, but don't neglect the rest of your life(be it school. job. or significant other) you will end up regretting it in the end. Trust me
Firstly, nice thread, good read. Hits home, real hard.
I played from the first hour (literally) of the first day (we got the game a little earlier in australia due to time differences and as soon as the servers came up we were on) until about December 2005. From September 05 i pretty much quit but got drawn back in a few times until december when i sold my account. I STILL didnt take WoW off my PC and the guy who bought my account used to get me to log on and grind with him to help him level one of his other characters on his orginal account, he now has level 60; hunter, rogue (mine) and druid and he's STILL loving it since joining on that first day with me.
Personally i think its a great great game with awesome graphics, great support and a beautiful world thats a pleasure to look at and run around in. My first look off the dam in Loch Modan during the beta was breathtaking (especially when i leapt off it) and the first time i managed to climb to the spot height at the top of Iron Forge (gnomish airstrip) i was also pretty happy with myself and the view. I loved the game but why then did i stop if not to break out of the addiction which i was quite happy dealing with?
I couldn't play endgame seriously... thats the main reason... actually its 80% of the reason why i quit playing. I was an aussie playing on an american server and even to raid with one of the aussie guilds on lightbringer (or one of the oceana servers) i would have still been required several times a week for quite a few hours and i didn't have the time to put into that.. i have a girlfriend that's not made up of 1's and 0's (much to the confusion of some of my WoW mates who still think girls are hot night elves) and strangely (here comes the sarcasm which is due pretty much right about now) enough she dosn't understand why a guy would ignore her for hours upon hours on end when they havn't seen her all day because of work and then just want to play a computer game instead of (cough) eating dinner together (cough cough) or going out for drinks with friends or whatever else (personally we play basketball in the same mixed team amongst other activities).
So basically what im saying i guess..... is that i LOVE WOW and although i LOVE IT i just can't play it because it just DOES NOT cater for casual gamers. You just arn't part of the "Team" you never get the "Items" that apparently make a good RPG character and it just dosn't seem like fun anymore... it's a crying shame.
if ANYONE can suggest a MMO thats populated by a shitload of casual players not hard core gamers then i'd be happy to know what it is...
have fun guys..
