Three things that would have to happen for me to return to SWG...

in SWG Veteran Refuge

1) SWG2 done "PreCU" by a new Dev team headed up by Koster.

2) An official appology from the people at SOE and LA for totally fucking up SWG and screwing the playerbase out of a lot of good money.

3) Smedley's resignation.

(translated = prolly friggin never)

    Open up Classic servers.  That's it.  Why?  Just to get to post on the OForums again and ask Smed how that crow he is eating tastes.

    Just give me an appology (for not only the NGE, but also for the way
    the Austin studio folks have insulted and disrespected the customers,
    both current and former) and fire Helios, Chris Cao, Rogue_5,
    Thunderheart, and the rest of the SWG 'community relations' team, and
    I'll be willing to spend money on an SOE product again.  If they
    did that and opened classic servers I'd be there in a heartbeat. 
    If they did that and didn;t open classic servers, I'd be back in EQ2 in
    a heartbeat.

    I would be happy just to log in again as a preCU player, and that meens as a "from scratch player", all complaints aside.  I think that making preCU servers would be enough of an admission of guilt for me, no appology required as far as im concerned.  And as for "Public Humiliaton" of someone who thought he had a good idea that went bad fast, I believe that people will make mistakes.  Maybe someday you will make a mistake, and no one will forgive you, unless under extreme demands set forth by people who only seek blood, money and humilation.  koi

    I can agree with points 1 and 2. However, we really don't know who did make decisions. Instead of Smed, it could have been for example Nancy MacIntyre, who used to be game's senior director at LucasArts when NGE happened.

    From Taipei Times Archive:

    "There was [were] lots of reading, much too much, in the game. There was a lot of wandering around learning about different abilities. We really needed to give people the experience of being Han Solo or Luke Skywalker rather than being Uncle Owen, the moisture farmer. We wanted more instant gratification: kill, get treasure, repeat. We needed to give people more of an opportunity to be a part of what they have seen in the movies rather than something they had created themselves," she said.

    SOE is still just contractor for LA. NGE might have been decision made by LA - and only thing what SOE was able to do is do as ordered. Kicking Smed would make me smile, but it wouldn't change anything if fool or organization that made this possible is still working. We would have same situation after couple years and devs would still wasting their time to rework combat and Jedi systems. I think that we should pay more attention to LA than SOE.

    An all-new Pre-CU server. Preferably before über Doctor buffs, and vehicles. But it doesn't matter. I'd play anything Pre-CU, as long as it was populated.

    For me to return to SWG I'd require,

    1: A live gameshow transmitted worldwide for free every evening based on "The Running Man", with All SOE/LA staff involved in the NGE as contestants for the first 6 months until they've all been on. Presented by Jerry Springer.

    2: Every copy of the Star Wars prequels that exist on this earth to be gathered in one place and burnt.

    3: My marriage to Meg Ryan.

    Hello Everyone,

    I have been on a brief hiatus from posting and just reading the interesting news about what may happen with the game. I hate SOE for what they have done to the game and honestly all it would take for me to go back to pre-cu would be for classic servers to come online. Yeah I bashed SOE and will never trust them. In fact I boycotted all Sony products as well because of what happened to SWG. I know we can never trust them ever again but if the only option to play pre-cu came from SOE hosting the game again I would be there in a heartbeat. I invested quite a bit of time in my 4 toons but if I had to start from scratch all over again I would be there. I have tried just about everything out there since I left that pathetic excuse for a game and Im bored and about fed up with MMO's atm. Lineage II where I am at now is ok but just doesnt have the appeal that SWG did for me. I dont want to jump right in the game when I get up in the morning before work. So for the three things that it would take to get me back into the game......well there is really only one at this point. Host the #$%! game again the way it should be played.

    3. Complete new core (possible but depends)

    Then its not going to happen, Koster is allready making his startup studio and has allready begun work on his next game.

    Well for me, to be honest, I do not really want the game as it is right now, but since I am being honest I sure as heck would not want the Pre-CU game either, as far as I am concerned if you don’t like the game today, I find it hard to imagine how you even liked the game before, they are both filled with problems, and neither one of them is any better then the other. Both game systems whether it was the Pre-CU or the game today, were losing players. So for me, I would want a brand new SWG, a new game that has a new direction, a new Dev team, and a new game that has nothing to do with either Smed or with Koster. Bring it on down now.

    Hey, it's not like SOE kicked my dog.

    The only lasting reason that I'm pissed at them is because they replaced the FUN game I was paying for with some god awful shit. Now they put sprinkles, nuts, and candy in the shit...but it's still not ice cream and I still want the old game back.

    So...If they bring the old game back, that's good enough for me.

    Star Warsy is not the way we describe the game. You should go to the part of the forums where the game is supposed to be "Star Warsy", and stop trolling the veterans forums.

    to be honest. i dont think i could go back to SWG after this mess. It would be one thing if they just pulled the plug or something like that because then SOE didnt screw with a good thing they just said "No more"... of course we'd want it back and the likes but i digress.

    I wouldnt want to go back after all this. Sure you give me what i want after how long, but why should i give you my money now when it wasnt good enough for you to just fix the existig bugs pre-nge/cu. If you couldnt listen to us then i dont trust you to continue to do it now.

    Well, those other point would be nice to, but a classic server is indeed enough.
