  Different Outlets Heading Into Beta!

  Hi folks.
  
  I just wanted to take a minute and let you know that the Marketing/PR push for City of Heroes has officially gone into hyper drive! As a result, some additional groups of people are going to be let into the beta test – people like retail buyers/employees and high-level media folks – all in an attempt to heighten awareness of the game. All of you have known about City of Heroes for quite some time, but now it’s time to spread the word, BIG TIME. We’re also going to start letting pre-order people at some point in the not-too-distant future (we still don’t have an exact date on that but will make sure to let you know). Finally, we’re working with some high-profile online gaming sites to throw beta slot contests – so don’t be surprised if you see some of those. We need to make sure ALL gamers out there know about CoH! We’ll advertise these contests on the front page of our web site as they become available, and you should feel free to participate in them if you’d like to.
  
  The reason I’m telling you this is because we wanted you to be aware of the additional people being added to the beta, why they’re being added, and to hear it straight from us instead of somewhere else. Also – we wanted you to be aware that there are additional ways for fans like yourself to get in (the contests). We are still going to be adding as many City of Heroes forum members to the beta test as we possibly can – as often as we can – but wanted to do you the courtesy of letting you know that other groups will be joining as well. So, if you hear that your brother-in-law’s sister “Chrissy” (who is a manager GameSpot) got into the CoH beta, and you haven’t yet -- you’ll understand why. Likewise, if you see a contest on a well-known gaming site that’s giving away beta slots, you’ll understand that, too.
  
  I just want to re-iterate again that we are committed to continue letting forum members into the beta, and people who registered before Nov. 1, 2003 still have a decent chance. Whether we end up needing over 30,000 forum members remains to be seen, however, so if you’re at all concerned with not getting into the beta, we strongly encourage you to pre-order the game -- for although it is by no means the only way of getting into the beta, it absolutely guarantees that you will gain entrance at a later date.
