    edit: Misread

EVE? You prob won't like it.

If not EVE there's always UO.

Warning though: EVE and UO have REAL PVP... which you most likely have yet to see. When you die, god forbid... you actually lose stuff!

Yes I love PVP my favorite game was shadowbane but our guild ran evryone from server we were on and it was hard to find anyone to put up a decent fight so i left game. Then started playing WoW when world pvp was good but then they put in instanced pvp and it got real boring and the Raid grind got real tiring just to get gear to compete anyway. Right now just looking for a game with some decent pvp and has a decent size player base while i wait for Warhammer to come out.

Is the grind in EVE a long grind ? (what i mean is it gonna take me awhile before i can realy pvp?) and i yet to look into to UO gonna check that out now. Ohh and is EVE like L2 where u have to wait where there is a harsh penalty for PK'ing ( as in you turn red and evryone is trying to kill you and you cant hit them back with out going even more into red ?)

Ok. You're going to get alot of hate for this, because there is a thing where people don't think you could ever match up to ppl who have been playing for years.

EVE has no level "grind" persay. Skills train over real time.

You can easily PVP and be successful against players who have been playing for years on your 14 day free trial... IF you read every peice of info on PVPing EVE-online.com forums and the forums here have to offer.

Are you going to PVP on your 14 day free trial? Probably not. But you can if you know how.

EVE is based on strategy. Skill Points (almost the equivelent of levels) don't mean anything in combat... other than what you can fly. In 2 months training you can fly some pretty bad ass stuff and do some pretty harsh damage. In less than a month you can start PVPing quite frequently, if you find a good corp that's willing to help you with strategy and/or let you tag along with them. But, just like any other game... you're not going to start really PVPing in the first month you play the game.

When you die, you lose everything.
You ship blows up and half the stuff on it blows up. The other half of the stuff is dropped into space and the ppl who killed you probably are going to pick it up.

If you PK in 0.4 - 0.1 Space you get a security negate. It's not that bad of a negative though. If you pod someone then you get like a -0.05 to your secruity rating. If you pod kill someone though (killing someone you've already killed... you'll have to play to understand) then you lose ALOT. Like -1.1 security rating.

If you reach -2.0 then when you enter 1.0 security systems, the police (NPCs) blow you up. Then from 0.9 - 0.5 systems it goes down. I think you can't enter a 0.5 system if you are -4.0 + (it goes to -10.0).

My suggestion is to take the time to read this thread where a guy sucked a PVP and therefore the game sucked. Granted, the game isn't for everyone. But he was jumped on because he liked the game, he just sucked at it and therefore it sucked.

Read what the vets write. I have even posted a basic cheap low SP ship setup for 0.0 ratting. (killing high level NPCs)

Personally I only have 4.5 million Skill Points. Which equates to about 4.5 months game play. I wtfpwn ppl all the time with no problem and most of those people have much more SP than me.

No kidding , cause what you said is a complete lie. All the vets I know say it takes months to really be competetive. Man when did you become a total fanboi for this crap game Snakey ?

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. "Really Competative".

I'd really like to see someone who doesn't play 24/7 (literally) on L2 with just a couple months play, kick the shit out of some guy who's like like 55.

Hell, even in Shadowbane it's going to take a couple months... YOUR FIRST TIME. Because you're probably not going to pick the right character layout and have to restart half way through. Not to mention you don't know where to go and how to level up properly.

Thanks for info guys realy helpfull. But am looking for a fantasy type game not a space invaders type game (not that that is a bad thing just not my thing). Am looking at Turf Battles atm. Has anyone played this game before? how is PVP/Grind/Penalty ? Looks pretty enteresting so far. And btw it does not mater if i loose all my stuff am used to that. What i mean bye penalty is negative effect for killing others.

Check out UO then. It's an oldie but a goldie.

Other than that, there isn't much out there for us PVPers.

Fallen Earth will hopefully be released next year though!

If your looking for modern pvp MMO's, then I highly recommend Lineage 2, ArchLord and RF Online. all 3 of them are excellent PVP MMO's.

Strike the Archllord and RF and I'll agree.  Both of them are crappy games with a crappy PvP system.  Lineage 2 is a grindfest but it's well done and probably one of the best things to come out of asia(not saying much )

Darkfall might be something you'd like

The game is not even in beta yet though, but you can check it out from their site www.darkfallonline.com

Some of the news on the forums are worth checking out, too. You can find them at forums.darkfallonline.com

    Have fun image

Translation: Be prepared to "farm" in some form for cash if you like to pvp to cover your losses. Also be prepared to deal with a lot of guild political bs because of the disincentive to pvp.

I know in UO there used to be a point where you had enough junk so effectively you didnt really have to farm. Eve, it's possible to get to where you can make 75mil isk an hour but....it's going to suck until you get there. Also most pvp combat in eve seems to be either blobs + lag or "pirates" killing mining ships then running when they find an even fight. It's rare that you find good small fights. And even those arent all THAT good.

In my experience, no game has been as fun as old Daoc rvr, and I've played all the mmos you see on the left with a few exceptions. You might try BF2142. It's pretty fun if you can deal with a few issues and EA's.....umm...marketing paradigm.

Read the forum rules about posting information on unofficial UO shards... then you'll have a good idea of where to go.

    rules

Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.

Okay I  think I finally came up with a good analogy to cover this. We'll compare EVE pvp to paintball(speedball and its equivlants mostly).

now in both EVE and paintball, player skill is the most important factor.

Now SPs/Equipment in EVE equates to better markers and gear in paintball.

People Equate SP/equipment to winning because MOST players who have good SP/equipment(pvp oriented of course) also have the player skills to back said equipment. Similiar with me(amatuer tourny player) and my $2500+ in paintball gear.

Now with my experience with paintball means that in a 1v1(or more), I will still win out if I let them use my gear and I take a rental. It comes because of the fact that while they now have better equipment than me I still know how to put what I have to use in the most effective manner which will equate to me winning most of the games(2 weekends ago I wiped 3/4s of the other team with a malfunctioning gun for example). This is exactly the same in EVE.

Now as with paintball you give me my Tourny gear with my 2 years of tournament experience and 6 years of general paintball experience and I will utterly dominate most for fun games. Been known to wipe the other team and then since I got to the other side turn around and wipe my own team for shooting at me. Now things aren't taht severe in EVE but generally a Good pvper with great SP and equipmentto back it up is going to be a force to be reckon with.

hopefully that makes things a little bit clearer.

An unexperienced player with few SP  is going to get killed
A experienced player with  few skill points  will have a good fight and may win
An unexperienced player with many SP will get killed
A experienced player with many skill points will be a have a good chance of winning.

and frankly i'm fine with that.

  • You won't find a more active PvP game than Space Cowboy...FFAPvP.

I guaranty you'll be ganked 4-5 times everyday! This game is a PKers wet dream!

  • If you pc has a nice specficaions I promote Lineage 2, ArchLord and RF Online to you, otherwise I believe Eudemons Online and Conquer Online would be a good option for u, all have free pk system.

You shall play Guild Wars: Factions. That will probably be the best PvP game you've ever seen.

There ain't really any raiding in GW but there is alot of PvE too. Unless you grow tired of it that is :) But that's just personal preferences.
