ok well after playing eq2 WoW CoV Ryzom Lineage 2 and some other one's i forget the name of and been bored with them all.But kept going back to wow. I think im going to try out SWG finaly.Since ive only heard bad things about it but not to sure its actualy a pile of inflamable poo or just disgruntled fan boys ive decided to give it a try.
so as i have never actualy played the game pre nge and being my first time about to play it would it be all that bad compared to mc donalds happy meal aka WoW ?

Ok well been playing SWG past few days now tried diffrent class's and done the tutorial
walked around the first planet you go to (not very impressive)
first thing i noticed the game well it looks dated which i wasnt botherd about but the fact that the game goes so slow on me when i put the shadowing effects on in the options menu yet i can play EQ2 on high detail with no problems.
There was plenty of people around the EU servers .
couldnt notice any major diffrence between certin classes make i got was lvl 18 spy and bounty+commando up to a the teens.
but there wasnt enough to keep me interested the controles are completely arse ways
i would be walking around and all of a sudden my char lets of a round on some mob due to the retarded click combat but i found out you Alt can stop that but it was still anoying i hated having to press alt everytime i wanted to use the cursor.I found the combat system fun at first but then it just got anoying.and it was to easy to kite mobs id run away and fire at them and they would just freeze and not attack me and i could just kill them, they didnt even fight back which was fucked up.
The Quests were just go to this big blue beam of light kill those click that come all the way back altho i can contact you via comm but come back anyway (waste of time or what ?)
The graphics were very bland and not very interesting and there was house's just doted everywhere it was like flying around a maze and id say 90% of the house's i seen were almost identicle. Just made everything seem slopy.
the chat box is terrable just dont like it for some reason.
people were just running around questing as was i but hardly seen anyone chatting.
basicly game isnt worth the hassle to get into shame tho i cant help but wonder what it would have been like pre nge.
so basicly i think people all those people saying its gone to shit ! are telling the TRUTH ! and not just pissed of x fan boys who lost there characters. so now i must go and cancel before my 14 day trial comes to an end.

Yet again a tried the game, this time as the two week trail just a week ago and i quit after a day. I'm not sure why it was but the game didn't at all have it's old charm. Please understand me when i say that i used to love the game, i really did. But this time around it just felt, well boring to play. There were even fewer ppl playing and the game play felt non existant. I like what they have done with the combat parts. It feels that you as the player is more in control actually fighting than just pushing buttons.
Maybe it's like this with all games, eventually you get bored and the loose their charm. But by all means try it out. I'm just hoping for a new Star Wars MMO to come out so i can have that extreme feeling of joy like i had the first time around.
*looks at the update timer 11 hours to go*
well im just looking for something to mess about on i really am not bothered about getting into a mmo hard core like i use to spend whole days playing .i just want something to pass the time untill fallen earth is out which by the looks of it (seen some new previews of youtube) loooks to be god dam amazing so far.

Hell, being patient enough to wait for an 11 hour download makes him an easy candidate for EvE. If you're patient enough, it's the greatest game on the market, unfortunately I am not that patient.

Actually there were some difference between the Pre-NGE and the NGE, but based on what you didnt like, the Pre-NGE was skilled based, you could mix and match professions, and have a wide assortment of different skills and abilities, not that they all worked but t you did have that option. The combat was turned based, and slow, you could go and bake a cake, make supper and dinner, throw a party and go on vacation and come back and you might be finished the battle. But other then that, for what you said that you did not like, for the most par that was pretty well Pre-NGE as well, there is no real difference in the quest, they are basically the same, not much difference, the graphics were the same, the look was the same. The thing you have to remember is that a lot of the things you hear about the Pre-NGE are really a load of bull shit. Now you know why Hundreds of Thousands of players left this game not because of the NGE, but they left this game long before the NGE came, they left because the game really wasnt that good in the first place. I know you have played some other really good games some of my favs is EQ2 and SOR, I would wait for Vanguard or Age of Conan. Bring it on down now.

It is definately a game for the long haul.
I made master commando by running around on a bantha autofiring a flamethrower at Tat yard trash. only took me a month, much faster than when I had mastered rifleman, which I did by killing wild Imperial trooper spawns on Naboo. to each his own I guess.

I also recently returned for a bit to SWG. I quit last time befer the JTL was even launched. Let me say I found the game fun and despite myself (was a master ranger/rifleman) I found the world of SWG post CU enjoyable. Space reminded me of my time playing Wing Commander and was refreshing. What caused me to leave again was that fact that two good sized player cites I helped found ,at some level, were empty. I just was to disappointing to see all those empty cities....
So those wanting to give it a try do so the starting quest is fun and takes you through several planets. Maybe if this was my first time in SWG I would have stayed about longer.
