Arena.net for a new SW MMORPG

LaterisLateris Member UncommonPosts: 1,847

This is just an open discussionspur of the moment post. It
never occurred to me but I think arena.net would be a great company to do a new
star wars MMO.

They have delivered a very well executed game with Guild
Wars that have the following.

Free subscriptions

A very completed game upon release that is not broken.

PVP and PVE content

This is kinda funny to think about as I beta tested SWG and hpoped for the best- but all hope is now lost -soooo! image

They are too smart to poke into the abomination that SW license is. They prefer to deliver good stuff without external politics.

Oh, and Anet is spin-off of Blizzard. All the concepts and aproaches to design are shared between WoW and GW. The only exception is, that WoW focused on grind, and GW on casual gameplay. But they were made from people from the same school, so it's not surprising they are at the same degree of quality.

You mean Diablo 2 Rek, not WoW. Arena.net is the team that made Diablo 2, they have absolutely nothing to do with WoW, and never did. WoW adopted its tallent/skill system from Diablo 2, the creation of the Arena.net team.

They were the same team, planning the WoW. Then they got into disagreement over design. A few people, who believed grind sucks left to found Anet. The remainder stayed at Blizzard and made WoW. But the original team stems from D2/bnet era.

At least that was my understanting, I could be wrong though.

Please... Can i play a game that has no social interdependance and it's content is provided by continuously adding to the Loot table.

I would love nothing more then to do the same quests over and over to try and get the best stuff.

There is nothing more satisfying at the end of my gaming experience than looking at myself and saying dang I look good. That is some sweet equipment.

Copy and paste that into your browser.  You'll at least get what you asked for in the first and last paragraphs.  They nerfed most of the repeatable quests.  image

I had the option of playing NGE for another 21 days for free.  I lasted <2 hours.

I lasted 2 minutes which is when I couldn't take the straight legged, goose-stepped running animation I was doing any longer.

    ==========
SWG - 1st Gen MBH (Closed)
    EVE (Closed)
WoW (61 Orc Hunter - Blackwing Lair)
    GuildWars (Boring...)

I can't stand guild wars to be honest.  As it is now it actually reminds me of the NGE lol...

If you ask me their pretty much already close to the same thing only guild wars was quite a bit more instanced than swg.

SWG is pretty much dead in my book and at this point in time I don't even think a classic server will save it as it's just way too little way too late.

SWG2 when/if it is released will be fighting a uphill battle that's for sure sense I know absolutley no one that plans on ever buying it assuming they do decide to release it, untill it's been played and verified time and time again it's a good game.  At the same time who wants to invest into something that will eventually change and make you're charecter worthless in game...
