Its funny, when Eve slips in the ratings...
So I noticed that as soon as GW: nightfall got above Eve in the ratings a certain account by the name of ccc38941 reviews both Eve and GW:nightfall and now Eve is back on top. One review blank in Eve and the other three words long, which make no sense but is negative.
Conspiracy? Most likely!
Right now it has some effect on GS:NF since its new but eventually over time it won't matter I suppose but it is rather funny. Unless this guy has 38941 accounts...

Even though there are alot of crap reviews on this site, in the end there is a preponderance of people reviewing who have at least some interest in the game. There really arent' enough losers around shooting down every game except there own. I think that is a minority.
Certainly I would never take a number on this and compare to a professional review. It may be the case that the ridiculous peaks and valleys of the fanbois and haters cancel each other out, but such a thing is certainly not reliable. But hopefully the intra-assay compaison so to speak can be useful. Although I do have my doubts.
If GW: NF doesn't hit 8.4 I will read through the reviews and see if I can find any good reason for it not to have done so as I think that would offer some interesting insight. People have funny expectation when it comes to sequels.

I think it's funny that anyone actually cares about ratings. Be them EVE players or GW players. Ratings are stupid because most of the people who rate the games are stupid and most likely haven't even played the game.

Actually GW is often on top usually late at night [GMT] so that tells me that there are a lot of GW fans out there doing evactly what eve fans may seem to be doing. Also at aboput the time that GW came on top before it sees that then was the time that the eve general discussion stated gettin eve sucks try GW threads of various guises.
And it was not long after the eve forums in this site got attacked by GW fans that eve fans started caring and went to the GW forums to put up what i consider pointless threads abshing GW right to be called a mmo.
Yep some of the reviews are so pathetic its hilarious. However there are some good ones and sifting through the crap isn't too hard as the bad ones are laughably obvious. Anyone smart enough to do a good hatchet job(ie. non-obvious) is probably getting paid by some political campaign right about now and hopefully isn't such a loser that they do it on some MMORPG site.
The only rateings i care about are my own.

No, Either LordSlater pulled that out of his ass, or he didn't look carefully enough. the ratings don't change that often. I'm checking this website late at night often ( I live in a GMT+1 timezone, night job, so hey!) and its always EVE thats on top, and rarely GW slips to number 1, but usually gets pushed back quickly.
GW gets to the top because it has over 1 million players and is a GOOD GAME.
EVE gets to the top because a few of its 100k players have 100k accounts on MMORPG.com

I have a GW account.
I logged on the other night for the first time in about 6months and they have done so much to the game to f' it up to make you buy a faction/night fall account it's not even funny.
I will probably not log on again for about 6-8 more months.
I am not a GW Player, but I am in that "1million players" number you said.
Although I am in the 170,000 PAYING EVE Customers.

This is just my opinion...
1) It doesn't matter if *we* and me that be the person looking at any game like it. That's subjective and not objective.. aka personal preferance. Eve or GW may not be the right game for you or me.. but for others it may be.
2) What does matter is, that if the ratings on the site are manipulated all the time then this site has 0 credibility (sure I spelled that wrong).
I have never rated a game on this site. How do you rate a game? How do you let a rating give you any meaningful info to a game?
I hate level games.. I loved UO/SWG (pre-cu). Other people love level games and hate the ones I liked. That doesn't make any of them good or bad games. /shrug
A high rating most definitely does NOT mean I'll like a game.. even if the people that rated it are totally honest.
Yes I've played EvE.. I beta'd EVE.. I tried it a few times since its release. It will NEVER be a game *I* enjoy.. for others its obviously a good game.
Just like how I don't even read or listen to movie reviews.. those guys seem so clueless to me on what a good movie is.. oh well.
But that ratings thing... is just like the old Nvidia/ATI wars on forums.. or AMD/Intel...
Gives us something to do I guess.

GW has 2 million accounts created...there'd easily be 1 million playing...there was over 500,000 at the NF preview alone.

Really now? Please post where you got this information or at least how GW figures out how many accounts actually play the game.

I have to agree that I have watched this as well and even today I was thinking that I got to take my hat off to the individuals that play Eve.
I admire your love of the game. As I have said before, I have played the game and found myself falling asleep at the wheel, but maybe I need to look at it again.
Unsubstantiated crap Snakey...EVERYONE I know who ACTUALLY PLAYS GW...for more than the 2 seconds that you logged on for to draw your garbage conclusions says the game is LIGHTYEARS better now than it was when it first released.
They've actually allowed people who only own prophecies to have access to things that were made for Factions only, just recently. So things are improving all round and Prophecies and Factions players get a lot of the benefits from the new Chapter without even needing to buy it.
So...you...like Gameloading...might want to get a clue before you post about GW.
Really, if I could be bothered posting proof for people who only knock the game...I would have done so already.
It's all from the main site, and various recent game-mag articles about the NF release. Look it up yourself.
