I think that was written to sound like the game is way awesomer than it is. oooh, aragorn. now every one meets him. captain? man. ill bet this game is going to be really pretty, but I'm not really sure if its going to be any fun.
The captain is basically a paladin from Diablo 2, or perhaps a paladin/warrior from WoW, or perhaps a Warrior from Guild Wars.
It doesn't break any mold cause it's been done before.
As far as the 'fun', I really didn't see much in the journal. He said he was excited to see Aragorn, but that's the kind of player who will have fun with this game even if it does suck out loud.

if u go to the LOTRO website, there are loads more journals based more on the playing experience.
I think Moirae is entirely correct. Also, darn thing is about Archet area again. Anyway it is in Beta and there are probably all sorts of weird/bad things going on.
Also I don't put much stock in the idea of the "Captain" class being some kind of innate leadership function. Just doesn't follow. Group buffer sure, that'd be good. But they must've selected someone whose experience closely matched the idea the class conveys. I don't think it's made up or a lie, just that that person's experience with it is atypical.

I think you mean "positive ones", but you'd still be wrong. They've released a few that have pointed out things they don't like about the game. I've read everything they've released. They only put out the "positive reviews."
They haven't been delusional fanboy rants, they've pointed out the good and the bad and they've all given out a little information about the class and the game. What were you expecting?
Nothing less than what they're doing. And no, they haven't pointed out the bad. The company is trying to make the game look good so even the bad stuff they've been posting has been relatively good.
I'm just trying to put some reality into peoples perception. They look at those journals and think everything is wonderful without considering that the company is trying to make itself look good so the journals that are released are biased.
Wait until the beta is over, or at least into open beta. And then make your decision. Right now, you won't hear any real reviews that are unbiased because of the NDA.

That journal was written based on the play exp. The 'fun' was not invented or over hyped.
