Finished this game clocked at 28 hours. I really enjoyed this game but I felt it was kinda short (far too short for the expected 40 hours that the game developer predicted in an interview). Anyway, wouldn't it be cool if they made a real "The World R:2" mmorpg ?

    No.

From what I've seen of those games, if you take away the plot, you end up with..

    Endless Instanced Dungeons.

and PvP!!!! Actually the dungeon isn't instanced. It just uses a keyword to make an area since other players can also join the same area you are in if they input the same keyword. But I guess you are right, if they took out the storyline plot it would make a really boring game. I heard they are planning to port .hack//fragments to america in 2007.

Did they run out of good names?  gu seems kinda lazy like the guy thinking of the title had thier baby spit up and they got the name.

I agree, it wouldn't be that hot of a game.  Maybe if it was released before Phantasy Star it would be different.

Well G.U. stands for a lot of things, you gotta play the game and follow the whole .hack series to "get" it. For the game .hack//GU: Rebirth ... GU means Growing Up because the protagonist of the game grows up from being a selfish bastard to actually care for his friends.

Most ppl when talk about .hack mmo they think about features it has rather then actual .hack game imo.
The world is a complete sand-box game. You have big world, a lot of customization, you can do whatever you want, ffa pvp, fights where matters your skill etc. so yes.. i would like to see .hack mmo =]

I would love to see a real "The World R:2" mmo. I heard that Bandai got something in the works altho there's nothing concrete yet. The only news I've heard was that they are porting .hack//Fragments to america.

I heard about .hack/fragment but I doubt if it's good.
the best part of 'The World' is that your actions affect other players. you can CHANGE the world, become famous, make friends and foes. Anybody who tried .hack will see that there are famous players who don't play for months but ppl  still tak about things they did..  Unluckly noone of the current and future mmos doesn't look like it will bring us this =/

ps. yea I know my english sux.

From what I heard about .hack/fragment it's not a true mmorpg. Basically Bandai's servers only acts as a player chat room / meeting room and the actual games are hosted on player's machine. And from what I read about it from other players, it wasn't too popular in japan. The service is free tho.

In volume 3 Haseo gains a 4th form call Xth Form with his Adept Rogue class.

First form = Twin Blades (uses 2 swords or daggers)
2nd form = Edge Punisher (uses a large 2h sword blade)
3rd form = Scythe Reaper (uses a scythe)
4th form = Bladegunner (uses 2 guns with blades on the front)

.hack series is so fun to play. If you have played the first 4 hacks you would definetly say that GU hits the spot in enhancements and gameplay. Theres way more to do and instead of trying to do 3d skins they used the entire character design into 2d textures. The only thing i regret in this game is not being able to use datadrain at my will.

Yeah... all the data drain part are only available during avatar battles which are few and is scripted. The reason is because avatars are sooo powerful that the only thing that can beat an avatar is another avatar. Even the weakest avatar can destroy anything even the highest level characters and put the player him/herself into a coma. I can't wait for volume 2. Right now I'm simply clearing up all the lose ends such as the quest shops and trying to get all the cut scenes to unlock in the 1000 Book.
