Is it just me or has 90% of the player base migrated from Runescape?

No joke, I was playing and these little kids kept trying to talk to me. I asked them how old they were and their ages were from 11-14. I'm not talking about just a couple of them.... I'm talking about pretty much every person out there! Granted, they were a bit more mature than the kids I've seen in Runescape, even though their ages are the same.

But the question remains: Has this game degrated into a graphically better RS?

Surely you didnt expect every person playing WoW to be 18+ did you? There are 7 million subscribers, the age ranges are going to be literally all over the place with a number like that. When I played, I knew a woman that was 47, a little ways off from youre 11-14 encounter.

WoW is a simplistic game, which means just about anybody can play it and enjoy it, no matter what age. Thats why it has 7 million alleged subscribers.

I pretty much quit WoW after putting up with kiddies for a year or so.  I think it would be nice if they made servers in games not only be north american and oceanic but have a server or two that verifies age (via a credit card or something)  I'm not saying all children are immature, I played with a few kids in FFXI that were in junior high school which were nothing but respectful and polite.  What I am saying is statistically speaking the younger crowd can be a bit immature.  For instance in FFXI I luckily got a good server which made gaming fun and I played for nearly 3 years but for WoW I tried 3 different servers and played for only about a year.  If companies want to keep the older gamers such as myself playing (and paying) for longer they're going to have to address this problem.

The problem is the game companies DON'T want the older market. There are more young ones playing than older people like me.  Its all about the money.

I realy don't like this thread ^^ its just i know kids of today can be rude ( i'm like 17 and i'm already having problems with kids from 12-16 ,but to make idea's for servers like that is abit i don't kno ,it just sound a bit crude and from my player view when i play games ( in all honesty i havn't played wow thou) but i always seem to meet people my own age ,i just don't get it why it would be different in wow... how bad can they be ? image but thats just how i think about it :p

oh and plz don't flame be for my bad english i'm trying real hard lol image

    Games
companies want every sale they can get. At the end of the day it's
about the bottom line and young adults have a much higher disposable
income than 11-14 year old kids.

I think the suggestion of an adults only sever is an excellent idea. I
wouldn't be surprised to see games companies create one in the future.

I don't know... maybe it was a school project.  I've met kids on
WoW when I played but the vast majority have appeared to be adults...
or, at least, not very young children such as the ones you seem to have
bumped in to.  I'm not saying they all act appropriately, in fact
some of the kids are very sweet and mature.  Runescape, and a lot
of others, probably attract a lot more children because you can play
free.  The percentage of kids between the ages of 11 and 14 is
probably the same percentage you'd see in any big title, $15 per month
game.  I'm sure they are about, but I think 90% is probably a
    gross exaggeration.

"Pretty much every person out there"... ?  That, I think, you're
just making up so the game looks bad.  I don't care for it much
either, but I don't embellish to boost my opinion.  As for, "But
the question remains: Has this game degrated into a graphically better
RS?"... there is no answer to that because I don't think it was ever a
real question... just more shenanigans on your part.

Eh, this kind of crap is part of why I'm following AoC so closely, they are, for once, aiming at the older crowd.

Yup.  That "M" rating in the US is going to stop alot of kids from getting it.  (I mean that in a good way, not sarcastic)

Like with any MMO, the higher level you go, the less little ADD kiddies you will find. Low level areas in MMOs are notorious for childish general chat. I'm not saying it completely goes away at higher levels, but it sure does ease up.

Problem is an adults only server would never work.  Main reason is that adults have emo kids of thier own.  Here is an example of what ive seen.

Started a guild of 18yrs old+ with 6 core good friends.  Would have been 21+ if I had my way.  Anyways, everything was awesome, guild was one of the best, then when everything is going good, someone asks if they could get thier child into guild.  O they wont play much ..... other officers see no problem with this, and pressure to make a rule for players kids if they dont play a major role in guild.  Fast forward a few months, those kids, emo friends are joining.  Meanwhile little by little mature older players from guild are leaving because of the guilds standards are slowing decreasing.  Emo kids love drama, Core group of players leave because the guild is so changed and is not mature.  Guild implodes and of course falls apart.

So how do you keep the older players from allowing thier emo kids to play thier characters?  I really just dont see how they could possibly implement an age/maturity based server/game.

You're right! You cant do anything about it. I had pathetically the same problem running my guild in WoW. There is only one way to fix it and there is nothing can be done by us players. I strongly believe that its gameplay issue all alone. Gameplay concept doesnt involve much challenge as on player side meaning that younger crowd, the one which is immature, find it enjoyable enough to play it. As a guild master we have bugger all community tools. Guild chat? Friends list?? Officer's ranks??? image Nah! Thats definatly not enough to run proper guild.

Where is our INGAME community message board so you dont have to build a website which majority never check?
Where is guilds events supported by proper ingame tools?
    Where is guilds structures?
How do you supposed to build guild's wealth? BY DONATIONS??! Thats a sorry economy system lol

I cant honestly blame people for letting their children to play their characters. Im only blaming developers who created such an environment which attracts so young and immature generation. I only lasted 1,5 year in WoW and just gave up on it. Passed on leadership of my guild to another member, said goodbye and never came back. That was best I could do since I wasnt enjoying that game no more and that affected my own gameplay which passed on to the guild.

    Hey Snakey,
I do agree with you pretty much. I played on the Elune server for a couple months last year and couldn't handle the kids and the spam.

But I resubbed my daughter and I bought my own account when I read they had made new servers in October. One was Echo Isle and it was fun for a few days and then by the 2nd week- it had 15k people OVER the level of 10- LOL- and the crap all started again in general chat.

So I tried a new RP server and am loving it!! Very different kinda people so far and the chat is amusing with people trying to talk Jamaican- at least on the Horde side:) "Hey Mon- hav ju seen da white Tiger in da hills anywhere?
It adds something to the game and the people seem much more mature. Maybe the term "RP" makes the kids leery or nervous and they stay away?

Anyway- look me up in Blackwater Raiders server if you wanna try a RP walk on the Dark side:) I found a very intelligent sounding guild that I wanna join too- the recruit message was amazing- like something out of a book or a movie it was so excellent. That guy's name was Shavya that was recruiting if you do join the server.

My 2 Troll chix are Issianna (level27)  and MorningGlori (level 1)- just made MorningGlori this morning so I could start a new char with a friend that just resubbed.
