I heard in the Beta they were experimenting with them and they basicaly became a de-buffer based class with all their special bullets, and they no longer really put out large amounts of DPS. I ended up cancelling my pre-order for this game so that I could find out from people who are in game how Ranger works now...
Did they keep all the weird changes for them, or did they make them capable of soloing again? I tend to like playing games Solo, but apparently they made this game very hard to actually solo after the first few areas =/ any word on how the game works for soloability also? Especialy for Rangers (who I hear have to pay a small fortune to keep ammo for their guns T_T to the point that it's easier to get a melee weapon and a gun, instead of just a gun...which blows...Rangers = Range >_<)
Comments
I play the PC version so I can't tell you how they played in the beta, but I frequent the PSU forums and I haven't really read anything one way or another on any changes to the class since beta.

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
I'm not playing a Ranger, but a friend of mine do, so here is what i saw about this class :
-I could say that they are not as bad as you make them to be ; they can easily do 55-60 damage with an up to date gun (he is level 12 btw).
-If you solo, there is a great posibility that it will cost you a LOT of meseta to keep your pp full. I recommend using a sniper, or whatever it is called, they do slower but bigger damage, so less money to put in pp recovery.
-As far as I can see, he doesn't seem to have any "special bullet" ... unless you are talking about element bullet.
-I don't know about the ranger for the soloability (We're always grouping when he's there), but i have done some mission alone, and yea, we can solo most missions that are 5 level above our own from what i have seen. (exept maybe the one with bosses ...)

Compared to hunters rangers do similar single target damage. For example, I'm hitting for well over 100 per shot with rifles and I'm only 22 (I don't even have the best rifle you an get, had one fo about 30 minutes and then busted it with grinders). However hunters have lots of attacks that can hit multiple opponents. So overall they do better damage (at least if similarly geared). This will change somewhat when the last planet opens and we have access to higher level shotguns (right now the best ones in the game are only rank 3 Cs, and can't be ground).
Rangers are a little expensive to run. A hunter only needs one or two good weapons, a ranger needs at least 4 so that you can swap out guns when you run out of photon points. When I solo dragon runs I usually use up all the photon points in all of my guns by the time I get to the end and have to whip out my spear (until I hit the recharge cube). Right now it costs me about 250 meseta to recharge everything, but even after that I making a few thousand on an average run (at least if I solo it). I also save some money because I almost never get hit. I've never had to buy a Monomate or Dimate, in fact I usually have full stacks of 20 of each.
Overall, I think Rangers are balanced pretty well with hunters, at least for the time being, We have no idea what things will look like once the S-rank weapons are out.

Oh and lvl 10 Ranger owns. XD
Im a cast hunter and i do prefer to use the gun/ saber combo to solo, this lets me stay away from mobs and knock em back, also both weps recharge fast only costing me 50 meseta per run.
im planning to do the same combo once i get my hunter lvl to 5 then hitting ranger.
Now theres a huge difference from rangers of pso than those of psu.
Pso rangers at lvl 100 up had the best hp and the best def, they outclassed hunters by far. many people where hunters to use the different cool weps aval.
in psu the hunter now has the highest def and hp, but lack longrange ability, to dish out dmg you have to be in the enemies face, thus hp and def are needed direly. rangers dont need those as they stay afar from the enemies.
as for your suvs, they are in the grm shop in parum, you need a class b armor with an extra slot aval.
the galting gun cost 2500 and the lazer one 6000. they both give 1 extra endurance also.
