Yeah, the update will increase the level cap by 10, introduce many more missions, open up the planet Moatoob, add in four expert classes, and increase the rarity of items to S rank. Probably more stuff too but I can't think of anything right now.
I'm presently sort of torn about PSU. I love the game and the gameplay is great; I enjoy item farming, meseta hunting, and mission-doing as much as the next guy. But honestly there's a huge dearth of content in the game right now. There are only 10-12 missions, and while you can increase the mission difficulty, there are only three difficulties so actually there's only like 30-36 unique game experiences. This is unfortunate because it is possible to do them all, and afterwards you'll just be repeating them over and over.
I enjoy the game very much and I would recommend anyone to buy it, but I'm a little concerned at the lack of content. PSU's replayability is so good though that it isn't much of a problem...
The lack of content will be addressed in the next update, and i do agree the lack of missions do take away from this addictive game...but with so much to do repeating missions "almost" seems acceptable.
I'm glad someone mentioned this, because its true and after a few weeks it gets kinda annoying imo. I canceled my account because the game dont have a MMO feel to me at all... it just has a regular single player mode feel to it. Even when your in a party, its not like you have to be right there helping the other person/persons fighting.. its just basically to make the mission end quicker so you can repeat it again XD.
The next thing I dont like about the game is hard for me to even believe. The button mashing is retarded. I would honestly prefer the caveman type style over it. Just hiting X X X or Y over and over is dumb, the could have at least made combos or something.
One thing is still even worse than the other reasons I've mentioned. I was literaly a lvl 4 and went to an area where the creatures were all lvl 10. The problem is that they send like 3-5 creatures at you at one time (please note thats 3-5 lvl 10 creatures and im only lvl 4) and they get completely anhilalated. I mean, I could easily clear the entire lvl and not get hit if I was really trying, usually got hit 1-2 times tho, but thats simply because I was goofing around. Now to top things off, I kept going back and killing these monsters until i was lvl 8.. and got the exact same amount of experience off each kill, kinda lame.
These are most of the problems I personaly have with the game, I say most because I could probly think of more, but dont feel like it XD. So anyone, to people thinking of buying this game, there are my concerns with it, you may feel different, thats why I said these opinions are my own. Oh and lastly, (have to mention this) I canceled my account TODAY, its the 1st, and they are charging me for the whole month XD, i should have seen that one coming... thats my fault, but still gay XD
I am really looking forward to this game, I played the online dreamcast version for over a year before moving on to other games. How is solo play and grouping?
Um, they did make combos. Ever watch the hunters do all those fancy moves and toss the mobs all over the place? They were using combos. And tell me what game ISN"T button mashing anyway? PSU just does it faster than the standard click and hack. Eve online is basicly button mashing, EQ, L2, GW, all button mashing. Great tarnation! your using a keybaord and its FULL o buttons! And that mouse, its got buttons! Button mashing is all around you.
I can understand the same missions complaint that's why I do different missions or go craft or shopping or chat or put the game down for a bit. Traditional mmo's have you stuck in the same area for hours on end anyway so for me it wasn't that different.
Also someone gave the incorrect highest rezz for PSU. I can set mine to 1280x1024 max.
This game has a 8.2 user rating on this site. That right there says its a fun game. The real question is, is this game for you?
Yeah the max resolution can be set to 1280-1024 which is what I run it at. Like many others have said get a xbox 360 controller and use the keyboard for typing and you won't miss the mouse in the least. The controls with the xbox controller is really smooth, I can't really see a reason to play without it honestly. I play hunter mostly with the big two handed sword and moving from combos to specials and back with a massive group of enemies around me is soooo cool. So far 2 thumbs up, but as others I used to play FFxi and PSO so I knew I was gonna love it.
