I need help...

I'm not really addicted to gaming as much as I used to. I go outside, have a girlfriend, go to school, pretty much I let my gaming life co-exist with my social life. My gaming life is starting to crack though, becuase I just can't find excitement anymore no matter which games I turn to.

Currently, I play Dark Age of Camelot. I have a Realm Rank 10 Berserker which has about 110 days of /played time. I've really gone all out on this character, decking it out, and even occasionally spending real life money on in game currancy so I can get new gear to compete. I've put so much time and effort into this character that it has literally become a part of me, therefore, letting go has proven to be an impossible task.

Everytime I got frustrated with DAoC, I tried other games. Hell, I've tried most MMORPGS out there but nothing has matched the structurized PvP system that DAoC has. In other words, I always come back. I've been playing DAoC for 5 years now, since it was released, and I am beginning to want so bad to find the next game that I will spend this much time playing. In the past 5 years, DAoC has brought me some great memories that I cherrish and sometimes wish I could relive knowing what I know now.

Presently, DAoC has turned into a piece of garbage. The ratio of new players to cancelling players is devastating. I actually believe that EA Mythic should be paying me $15 a month to play DAoC... The game has become very generic and boring compared to what it once was. Too many things like /map, /rw have been added to ruin the adventurer mindset I once had changing it to a sort of FPS counterstrike mindset. PvE is literally touture, I honestly have no earthly idea how some people enjoy it when they could be playing other MMOs that are 10000% stronger in the PvE department then DAoC is. Dark Age's strong point was RvR. Having three teams, unable to communicate, advancing realm rank titles, keeps to be sieged, relics to be taken, DAoC was a gold mine back in the day. Now with the VN boards, all the magic is now gone. EA Mythic has added the ability for players to have characters in different realms on the same servers with no time inbetween logging into them which has brought crossrealming to the game where people can log on their Albion character, learn about a raid, log on their Hibernia character, and notify their alliance before the Albion force is even set up to move out. In adition, the Hibernian realm is so unbalanced that the realm I play (midgard), can't scratch it. Its been like this for over a year now too. Line of sight bugs and other exploits which Mythic refuses to fix has brought Hibernia to be an easy mode realm. It has gotten to the point where the ONLY way to have fun in the game, this is if you play on my server atleast (Caerleon), is to ditch everything you've done and switch to Hibernia, or follow the bandwagon.

EA Mythic doesn't communicate with their players anymore. Additionally, they do not focus their effots to the important things that need to be balanced. Just this week, they nerfed a fairly balanced class when they should have nerfed the INSANELY OVERPOWERED BAINSHEE AND ANIMIST that destroys everything in seconds. I'm serious, if you don't know what I'm talking about, Imagine a force of 10-25 people defending a keep from 60-90 people, and that small force obliterating the larger force in less then one minute. That is how overpowered Hibernia is. To pour salt on the wound, DAoCs population is falling to the point where on my server, it would be a miracle of jesus christ of latter day saints to have a force of 40 people let alone the fact that noone really tries anymore becuase they know that they will die to Hibernia exploiting/overpowered classes.

The reason I need help is, becuase the fact that I have vented this much about this game and talked so much trash about its company...... I can't stop giving them my money. I have spent far too much time to just easilly walk away, it has become apart of me and without something equal to compensate for it, I will be left feeling empty. I keep hoping this will get better, and I keep hoping that EA Mythic will finally wake up and fucking realize that their game needs a lot of reworking. But I also know that they are so scared of losing those bandwagon hoppers and Hibernian players which probably make of most of their revnue anyway. What should I do?

I read the first paragraph and the last paragraph...

Try something else that you do like... if there isn't, then tough luck... To me it just sounds like you're trying to hang on to the idea of the world, the idea that an mmorpg can last forever... It won't, especially because technology does advance... Understanding of new concepts does happen... And some flaws already created in a game can't or isn't worthed fixing... Move on...

My advice, just let it go. I mean, you sound like breaking off with a long time girlfriend. You enjoyed the game and now it's time to let it go. It's just a mather of time anyways if your story is truth, that DAoC will die in flames just like all empires do. All games are doom to the same thing. Just like all people must died.

I have read the whole text and wow... maybe you should take a break of
MMO's... maybe try something a bit more simple like a FPS, RTS,
Adventure, etc... just to relax a bit and then start trying all the
trials in the web and choose your favorite... I am still looking for
the perfect MMO to me.... Now I am trying DDO and I had a blast playing
it, but maybe in a week I will hate it ahaha. It's up to you ^^

Man, you sound like you have some kind of addiction problem with MMOs, as in you want to quit, but your char has become "part" or you and you rather keep playing because of the time you spent with your char even though you rather not.....

Just wait until WAR comes out...LOTS of RvR, balanced (hopefully) and should be a blast to play. As of now, you should just hold off and enjoy what you have now because as soon as you find another game you REALLY like, im sure you will be addicted for quite a while.
