Aside from technical problems, I like it. The way dialogue progesses now is a lot more fun and you can definatly be an evil asshole.
But, there are so many technical problems that its probably worth waiting awhile, until its gotten a lot of patches. The engine and aspects with the interface and options, the game box and manual, optimizing and just general quality all feel rushed. Give it more time and hopefully it will be better. I know some people who have mid-lower end systems say they can run it well, but I have the recommended specs for the game and it runs just terribly. When im in the wilderness or an area that doesnt have many NPCs its not too bad, but as soon as i enter a town or area with a bunch of NPCs, it bogs down SO much, im talking around 5fps. I have to zoom way in just to get an o.k frame rate.
But what I have played of it, I like a LOT more than the first one. The original had a terrible plot and dialogue, NWN2 is a lot more fun. Its just getting past the framerate and technical problems.
Also if anyones having trouble with the camera, go to your nwnplayer.ini file in your MY DOCUMENTS folder, NOT your NWN2 folder, and find the value camerafollowalways, and change it from 0 to 1, then 'save as' and save over the .ini file. This will make the camera feel just like NWN's.
Like Orcc said, its a good game but it has some technical issues right now. NWN was the same way, all will be well after a few patches, they already had a 80mb patch the first day it was out which is good news, and patch 2 is already planned that will be addressing alot of toolbar issues so far.
Just give it some time and it will pan out fine, remember its also up to nVidia and ATI to release drivers, Obsidian dosent have much control over that besides recoding the entire game.

I'm liking it. Severe bugs, but the story is way better then the first one. First one pissed me off with its "Will you help us?" "No." "Too bad you will anyways." And you can craft, which instantly gives it more depth then DDO will ever have.
Ya'know... there was plenty of previews and reviews both here and elsewhere, way before and soon after the games release.
If you didn't do the research anything about the game before you baught it then it's your own fault, for anyone even minutely informed this can be a good game for you, it just depends on your own expectations and what your looking for in a game along these lines. Most important factor, you have to willing to look at it as a building block and not a finished or polished game.
'Cause, y'know, everyone loves paying full price for a half-finished product. I mean... right?
I know it makes my day, fer sure.
By the way, the lack of z-axis is weak sauce.

Nor did it have any of the neon crap, or bug mounts. It didn't even have any "combat moves." You turned on attack and jousted with simplistic swings. It was a better game then. if you can't guess why then just uninstall the thing and move along. - Crabby

Just leave the Gnome to rot in the tavern.
