Worth getting?

I was wondering if this game is worth getting. I'm playing Guild Wars now and loving it, but this game has always looked interesting. How is this similar to the PSO for the Xbox? Is it just a dungeon crawler with a few other people or have they added some more variety to it? I assume there's no PvP right? Also, since I'd probly be playing this on the Xbox 360 is there still a monthly fee added to the base Xbox live fee? Thanks.

First of all, no, not much added to be honest,
you still just dungeoncrawl with a few others.
Lot's of fun w eaons tho, but then again there always were..

Umm, I haven't SEEN any PvP so by assumption there shouldn't be any, no.

Annd, yes, it's the regular fee,
however, as for the X360 you don't have to pay for an Xbox Gold membership in order to play it.
Works just as well with the frre Silver membership.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

No PvP as of yet, but there is rumors that Sonic Team will add it later as many want an Arena area.

Its very likely there will be PVP in the game I cant see them not adding it sooner or later,
I think they will hold it off untill the game has been out in Europe for a while so everyones had
a fair chance to level up.

PVP will probably have modes where you can set your levels for that match like PSO did.

heh what many ppl havent thoug of is this.
PSU is an console mmo, can they upgrade the game by installing new content? NO
    why?
ps2 dosent have much of an harddrive.... the game is Console based
so all the locked content is already ON the disc and not in some patch.
ppl that belived this game will expand more than rather is on the disc is going to get really disapointed.
    alot of wasted cash.
and in 1 week ppl have maxed their lvls and everything and done it all....
so this game ISNT worth getting nor be called an mmo so it should be removed from this site.

i tired the Online mode few times ago... you got 1 quest for level 1 to 10 and then it goes like 15-20-25...

the only things to do is start a missiopn and grind it. thats it. i got to level 6.. and got bored to do the same mission over and over. you got the strating town. and 2 other planet. which got higher quest on them. and few of them. at level 5 you unluck a quest. qhich got monster level  20 in it ....

The single player kick ass. but the multiplayer S*** hard

its really sad because i liked pso so much :(

i cant seem to find another cool mmorpg... i nearly tried everything.

Thats something that made me wonder as well. I can see updates happening on the PC and Xbox360 because of the hard drive, but content updates on PS2's tiny memory card..? I wonder how SEGA is going to fix that.

well they cant if it isnt already on the disc, the other step is expansion. there is no other way.
PSU seems like a scam game.

The other way is digital download on the HARD DRIVE. lol.
All 3ed generation are net/HD capable, and they all have an online service.

PS2 also has a HD. No HD, no extra content.

The bulk of the content that is currently on the disk hasn't been released yet.  Only about 1/3 of the classes are out, roughly half of the photon arts, less than half the equipment, maybe 2/3 (at most) of the missions.   There's an entire planet missing, and none of the "story style" online missions have been released yet.

In terms of content not on the disk, all ST can really do is add new mission styles that are remixes of current missions.  More can be done with this than you would think, but when it gets right down tto it they are not so much "expanding the game" as "gradually releaseing it."

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Yes the PS2 has a hard drive that is sold separately, its
    required for FFXI.

    Educate yourself.

Number one yes PS2 does have HD avail., number 2 the game has been patched twice already since I got it.  I'm playing on a PC but from what I understand we're all in the same world so to answer your question expansion of the game is planned and from what I've heard so is PVP.  The only PS2's that can't use the hard drive are the smaller versions that released late in the manufacturing cycle.  I played the other versions of PSO and though the game conceptually is similar to other versions(It is Phantasy Star Online after all) its been expanded upon in many aspects of the game.

The other refreshing thing about the game is the combat system, if you want live combat in a mmo not alot of options out there for you and PSO offers a good time for those into that type of game.  I would like to see a less linear style in future versions but I can say I'm enjoying it quite a bit.  I play COH's as my main MMO and PSO is a nice compliment for those times I get burned out on COH.

The Story mode is a nice diversion as well, it sort of plays out like a anime series with each episode opening with a intro and theme song in anime style and cinemas to tie the story together, being a anime fan I love that fact its cool to see previews of the next episode at the end of each section.

Hope to see everyone there, look for Flash McCracken or Trey Smooth.
