pvp in war

How will pvp be in war...anyone know?
The reason I ask is due to the way ive seen pvp go in other games.

1: EQ. Had to create servers with different ruleset regaurding pvp Due to the quick realization that higher lvl characters would kill a lower lvl ...run to the soulbinder (spawn point for those that dont know eq) and repeatedly kill players as they spawned helpless...over and over and over

2: RFO: great consept...had promise. But quickley beacame a game where all higher lvl's would do is sit outside the 1 or 2 noob areas slaughtering noobs as they tried to lvl. Of course your races high lvl's couldnt help...they were off doing the same thing to the other races noobs. All this did was drive off every new player beacuse they were unable to play.

3:WOW: At first was fun. But nothing but twinks and unbalanced. And now blizzard is admitting that theres a problem with hackers. I guess that would explaighn the priest using rogue abilities and the invincable characters that have ben run into more and more.

How will this game be any different from other games pvp. Will mythic Work off the problems other games have faced. Or do you think theill just pull a sony...take your money and instead of fixing anything broken theill just nerf the crap out of everything else so you forget about what was broken to begin with (lol...then offer you an expansion saying everything will be fixed...BUT IT WONT)

Best way to combat it would be to make a very small ammount of servers, one would be ideal.

With this sort of server setting it should be no problem to find some more newbies to mob up on the more advanced characters...

Nothing more scary than a horde of zombies newbies running at you

The fact that a mob of newbs can zerg a high level makes me very, very happy. Just like in the tabletop game! Goblin mob FTW! Heheheheh...

Funny how this post says pvp in topic then he states all the notoriously anti pvp games in all of mmorpgs, lol

Well, I've never played RFO, but I have played the other two and I'll give you what I know based on that.

    The difference between this game and those games is that PvP is the whole point of the game.  There will not need to be special "PvP servers", as there was in EQ, which were essentially just chaotic free-for-alls  PvP will also not be bound to a battlegrounds type setting as it is in WoW (which was incredibly boring and monotonous).  In WAR, PvP takes the form of RvR (realm vs realm) combat.  Everything you do...pvp, quests, etc...has that RvR focus to it and contributes to the war effort.  Here is a little excerpt from an interview with Mark Jacobs of Mythic, the creators of WAR;

Q: Having been in this business for a while, what do you think are the key ingredients to making an MMO that people are going to want to play?

Jacobs: “There are different stages. There is the beginning, the middle and the end, and at each stage you have to give the player what they want. For us, the endgame is all important. That’s the difference between Camelot and EverQuest, and Camelot and WoW. Mythic’s endgame is the strongest endgame of any endgame out there. You look at our RvR (realm versus realm) system, it is the most interesting, it is the most exciting, it’s the one that has held its ground for four or five years, even against a juggernaut like WoW.

“For us, with Warhammer, it is the endgame as well. We have to have a solution that’s better than Camelot, better than WoW, better than anything else out there. And if we do that, then the players will stick. And that is why we are putting so much time into the RvR system. (In Warhammer) It will be for RvR what WoW was for PvE (player versus environment). Blizzard crushed the PvE experience; they nailed it 100%. We want to do that for RvR.”

I like what he said there in the last paragraph about WAR being for RvR what WoW was for PvE.  The eternal struggle between the two factions will offer an ongoing objective in the endgame, not just the occasional arena or open-world encounter.  Mythic has stated that this game will be roughly 80% PvP and 20% PvE.  To me, that's a nice balance.

If you want more info on WAR's PvP and RvR, check out their website at www.warhammeronline.com or check the forums at www.warhammeralliance.com as the devs are fairly active there.  Hope that helps.  image

level isnt a factor in WAR.

its very simple: 4 newbs can kill 1 hardcore geek. it all comes down to if the hardcore player is going to use single targetted abilities/ etc. because you actually have to tihnk before doing, in this game :P
