Favourite Race not in WAR

Simple question. Do you have an army from the tabletop that you would like to emulate, or have you been into one races lore in particular. Also you have free reign to say what class(es) you would like these races to have.

For me its Wood Elves. I would love to play a waywatcher scouting round the border or in far off lands.

I gotta give it up for the Vampire Counts. They could have some very cool classes between Wight Lords, Vampire Counts (with the different houses? Carstein 4tw!), Necromancers, Undead Knights, etc. Lots to delve into with the Undead in the Warhammer lore.

I personnally think a Vampire Count with some cool combat abilities and some light necromantic magic would be pretty kickass. Solid fighters with some solid evil offensive / zombie summoning magic to boot. Could be fun...

My favorite is the Lizardmen. I always had that taste for the more "exotic" races in any sort of universe. Besides, the whole Dinosaur theme drives me nuts everytime, a charging Triceritops, how cool is that?

yeah i love the lizardmen, they are a nice change to the normal classes that all other games have image

My reply must be ... Bretonnians!!

    It's just classic medieval-ness.

A close second would be Lizardmen or Undead.

And yes, the undead leaders would be very difficult to best, but if they had to go from being a skeleton, to a zombie, to a ... whatever ... then they should be hard to kill.

Vampire counts are interesting when you consider that the obvious choice for one of the classes (vampire), could be sub-divided even further once you get into the 5 bloodlines (Von Carstein, Blood Dragons, Strigoi, Lahmia, Necrarch). It would create a similar point of contention as Chaos. Should they allow all of them to be playable, or only one bloodline for players, the rest as NPC's? Or would they choose four of the five as all the classes (eg. Blood Dragon as your tank/warrior, Necrarch as primary caster, Lahmian as your secondary Caster/Crowd control or dps[they are extremly fast in the context of fantsy battles], and Von Carstein as your summoner/pet class (mmmm zombies and skeletons))

Wood Elves! I love em. Just got Rulebook and Armybook couple of days ago and now I'm gonna go for Battalion.

Every time I read your post, I die a little inside...

Humans. Not only outside of The Empire, but also inside - This game seems to focus very much on Altdorf(Which is understandable - It is, afterall, a game about destroying the opponents capital). But Middenheim and the great Ulric.. Always been my favorite deity. Would be cool to have Kislevites. Tilean, Cathay, Marienburg, and heck, let's not forget about the halflings! They're after all the best cooks around :D

I've said it before, but.. Vampire Counts simply won't work as a playable race. Do you know what a battlemage is? Well, think.. EXTREMELY potent caster. Casters that can take down entire regiments with a single spell. Vampires are just as powerfull. True, they don't take down entire regiments - They create their own regiments. They truely are 'An army of one will'.

I voted Vampire Count but Tomb Kings would go along the same line for me.

    - Remember Nagash!? - the miniature was huge! (where did I put it?... I know it's under my bed somewhere lying in slumber - dead but living...) anyway I tend to like all the other Undead special characters as well.

well I play/collect Wood Elves in the TT game, so it's an easy pick

Second would be Kislev (I do have a v small Kislev army :) ) Tsar Boris rocks

about Wood Elves. I would love to see them ingame, but I think they
will be one of the last races to make it into the game (as a playable
race), because there are allready 2 Elven races. And eventhough as I
said I would love to see them ingame, I think 2 elven races are
    enough...

Heh...I still prefer my Skaven Warlord with the Chaos Armour, magical banner and the dwarf bane weapon. The friend I play against plays dwarves. He hates my Warlord. Threw a whole unit of longbeards at him and he killed them all on his own. :P

well boris is a v good
hero to fight alone against big units. He got that special ability that
for every attack made to him, he can make an attack back. So when
fighting a unit spearmen, 4 spearmen in base contact, 2 ranks makes 8
attacks + his own attack + attacks of his mount (that bear is fucking
cool!) = pretty damn much :D

but yeah, I mostly make my own characters, I like that more then using a special character.

Plague lord with warpstone amulet, bands of power, and weeping blades is my favorite.  4+ ward save, str 5 (9 with bands of power), toughness 5, inflicts d3 wounds, 6 attacks...good times.  image

Vampire counts all the way, they rule!! And manfred kicks much bootyimage.

If you've played Warhammer, or more to the point played Vampires, you'll know who manfred is.

Manfred Von Carstein! The original bad boy in black. He's a bad SOB.
I use to play Carstein Vampires (Sylvannian Levy-ish so I could have archersimage) with a huge mod army of units mixed with Skeletons, Zombies, and the Bretonnian Men at Arms models. It was a bit expensive but man did it look good and Vampire Counts was so much fun.

I played against tons of Chaos players and they always got so mad when I summoned zombie units and skeleton flanks on their knights.image Should've seen the look on their faces.image Never underestimate a Carstein...

I can say that I lived that experience and yeah I guess I had that look -> image on my face when Manfred summoned his skells... damn him! (oh and btw I was Chaos).

WEll, I dont have the time or the money to invest in ht TT game even though I want too. And my time seems to have a major lack of TT players, I mean a huge like, like no one at all. At I don't plan on going to some gaming centers two cities away to play. But I have read up on the armies some and I have to say counts. I know I know, too powerful to play as an idividual character. But I've always had a soft side for vampires.

You could always try getting a few friends together and starting a club. Start with skirmish sized forces (very small points values).

And as to the poll, its nice to see a good spread of votes, even Chaos Dwarves got some which is surprising.

       I like Kislevites. image

Drunken, angry, Russian-esque barbarian people. It's just too awesome. Oh, and mounted archery FTW.

Skaven would be my top pick
Secondly would be the Beast of Chaos.

Both races are pretty damn cool looking.

    Amazons!

They were in the original release of Warhammer (black books) and lived in Lusitania with the Lizardmen... even had a line of Citidel models that were rather....umm... in a state of Undress... when they went to the Boxed sets and aimed the game for more mainstream audience the Amazons disapeared...
