Sooo, I can't find an mmo to play, worth playing - SO....

Zaxx99Zaxx99 Member Posts: 1,761

I haven't found a modern mmo worth playing in the past 2 or 3 years worth playing. I'm not picky either. All I want is a modern mmo with modern graphics that is half as good as the old Ultima Online (pre-trammel) or half as good as the old Asheron's Call Darktide server before everyone left is level 275.

So instead of wasting $15 a month on a piece of crap mmo that is super-streamlined and boring as hell (ie WoW, EQ2, GW, or all the others)... I simply put that money aside instead. Now I used most of those funds for a sexy new video card for my customer built computer I built last May. My custom built computer includes a AMD 4400+ Dual core cpu, 2 GB of memory, and an SLI capable motherboard. But in a hurry to get it built and running and lacking sufficient funds for a video card, I simply bought a $130 Nvidia 6800XT video card. Not bad. The computer runs great actually. But now I just ordered the brand new, hot & sexy EVGA 8800GTX video card with 768 MB of video card memory. It even includes Dark Messiah free. Heh.

Yes, I'll still have no decent mmo to play with it, but just think how good Asheron's Call will look, lmao. j/k. All I know is that I just ordered this card, but there is no way in hell I'd trade it for WoW and 100 months of game time on WoW, even thought that would total a helluva lot more then this card at about $650.

Hmm, maybe I should have labeled the title to this topic as WoW -vs- EVGA 880GTX 768 Video Card eh? Heh.

At first I thought this topic was going to be a discussion about indie
MMOs, but it's just a guy bragging about a computer he payed way too
    much for.

    You dissapointed me, OP.

Well hopefully you get a functioning 8800GTX and not one of the recalled ones...

No. Not a computer there tuff guy. It's just a video card I'm really talking about.

Oh, and by the way, (most) Indie games suck. I'd rate them right up there with Romanian games and the beloved "Mourning" released in 2005.

Seems like computer bragging to me. Also, I agree that MOST indie games
do suck, there are still some out there that are quite good.

Well, if you don't like MMO's of today, then getting a new computer/upgrading is a good investment. I think most of us are going to upgrade the computer in the next upcomming years. With Huxley and Lineage 3 being the first next-gen MMO's to announce using the unreal 3 engine, I don't think it will take long before other MMO's start using this one. I think the Vanguard:SoH expansion is going to use the unreal 3 engine? I think I read that on wikipedia somewhere.

    1) stop bragging

    2) GW is free online play and actually takes skill.

    3) no graphics card can ever be "hot & sexy." You look pathetic.

I would rather play an mmo that doesn't has the higher the level the higher your max HP/MP attached to it.

What kind of a noob are you?  I just bulit my l33t custom PC (while blind-folded and with one arm tied behind my back) which includes:

Prototype Intel 985 Chipset Motherboard (Dual 775 sockets)
2 Engineering Sample X6800 Dual Core CPUs (unlocked)
    8 GB of Corsair Dominator PC2 8888
    2 150GB Raptor HD in RAID 0
    2 750GB HD in RAID 1
2 Developer Model 8800GTX++ with 1GB of GDDR4! (beta SLI setup)
Hand Crafted Water Cooling Kit (tubes made from the guts of Wild Starving Man Eating Lions which I hunted myself with only a blunt ice cream stick and the reservoir has miniture sharks with laser beams!  heh heh!)

Oh yeah and by the way I did this by saving my milk money!  For you that can't do math, WoW has been out for 2 years.  $15/mo * 24 months = My Mega Custom PC!!!!

And I have a GF too and she only took me saving up my candy money!

Oh wait, wtf are we supposed to be talking about here?

No, seriously, you should have labeled the thread, "My new video card."

Well I have to agree with DirectX10 comming out id say investing in a graphics card is a good idea as well as getting Vista [when its ready].

Game wise well im sure there are many mmo's out there in development to take advantage of the DirectX10 revolution, however right now EvE will be a good choice as soon next year at the latest its gettin its current games graphics engine replaced with a brand new DirectX10 based one. Ive seem some of the screenshots and id safly say the graphics may exeed what was achieved in X3 Reunion.

As for the other games that are out there right now i dont know if they are doing the same concerning upgrading the graphics engine.

Hmmm, you should have try wow again- it has its latest expansion - The Burning Crusase which will be release by January, 2007.. Blizzard make it much much better so watch out!  with a new computer - that's cool to play :D

Yea but if you noticed by his OP he wanted a game that would take advantage of his high end computer not one with subpar graphics.

And frankly if he didnt like wow before there is no reason for him to like it with the expansion as all it adds is another 10 levels and some very basic PvP.
