Customizing Controls?

I just picked up the trial and, overall, I think I enjoy the game.  However, I truely dislike the point and click movement that it seems is forced upon you.  I cannot find a way to make any of the keyboards commands customized.  For example, I would MUCH rather have my hotbar keys be represented by the 1-9 keys then the F1-F12 keys, just a preference and what I'm used to.

Please tell me I'm missing some menu somewhere where I can customize my controls?

    I'm with you there.  The game looks beautiful, and seems like it's going to be very fun, but the UI isn't quite what I was expecting.  Seems like there shoudl be a way to map the keys out on your keyboard for movement, hot bars etc.  Rather dissapointing really.

    Try to activate the "press enter key" from the menu options. Then you can use the number keys too, and just need to press enter before entering chat text.

    But you cannot bind skills or macros with particular keys (at least with the ingame tools) and there is no WASD, so F1-F12 is the way to go (along with some macroes ready for targetting your party members if you're healer). Of course, the game is point and click; only in very particular situations you will use the keyboard to move because it's clumsy.

    But, for example, if you get blocked because of too many people around, you press the forward arrow key for a while, and you will move on.

    There is no ingame support for this. The best solutions are to get a gamepad or customize your keyboard directly so the 1-0 keys are the F1-F10 keys. All games don't have to go by WoW standards. After playing L2 so long I find WoW's hotkey system wierd. I don't like having to click on the chat window to communicate, and I often got stuck typing in chat when I wanted to kill a mob.

    This isn't "WoW's standards". *smiling* The ability to remap the keyboard is a feature as old as Everquest and even before my friend...

    I know it's fairly old. That doesn't mean its the best system out there. I'm just trying to get the idea across that just because it doesn't use WASD controls doesn't mean the control system is bad. Point and click works just as well, sometimes more effectively, especially in the Lineage 2 environment. I can't imagine the game using keyboard controls.

    It might not be a big deal to you but it is a game breaker to me... I could stand the point and click system if it were a good point and click system... but this isn't even a good point and click system in my opinion...

    hit system icon

    hit game tab

    Put a check in

    ENTER CHAT

     

    and you can use WSDA and all that other stuff

    or point and click.
