chocobos?

in Final Fantasy XI
i havent played this in awhile and i was just wondering what the deal with the new colored chocobos is?  are they like normal mmos mounts now or are they still the way they were?

    Chocobo Breeding has been intorduced, They take about 1 Month to Raise. The diffrent colors mean nothing (That we know so far) Its almost been 2 months since it was introduced So there isn't much knowledge known about color. But your choco's stats raise and lower with the diffrent things you do while raising them. At the moment Raised chocobo's are slower than ones your rent, but as the months progress people may find ways to make faster choco's. Refer to this for more information.

    ok thanks for the info.  seems like its interesting may bring me back to this game but im not sure yet that was one thing i hated the most was the chocobo system

    I thought the color of the chocobo meant on how fast they are? or points them out differently? idk it was like that in FF7 i thought it was like that in all from what i knew?

    Chocobo's vary, afriend of mine has a black 1, he tells me its faster than rented ones.

    Thats because each chocobo has its own stats, I"ve seen black ones that are just a little faster than walking. And Normal Yellow ones that run faster than rented. To date, color means nothing.

    ahh ok, so is it what you feed them etc? that changes there stats..

    Different Food does change the stats a bit, But also what Care Plans you have them do. STR of the chocobo affects how fast they run. Refer to this for care plans.
