Jumpgate Offers Reassurance to Earth and Beyond Refugees in the form of a special offer to try out JumpGate for an extended period of time. Here is their official release about this:
Louisville, CO - March 18th, 2004 - NetDevil Ltd., the independent developers of the massively multiplayer space combat and trading simulation Jumpgate, today announced a special program offering a free thirty day trial (instead of the standard ten) to all players who send in a retail Earth and Beyond CD.
Join the enigmatic Quantar, the warlike Octavians or the mercantilist Solrain as they work to rebuild civilization following the great collapse and defeat the alien Conflux menace.
"We are troubled to see the small online space genre losing another excellent game. At NetDevil, we're hoping that players are still looking for something different in a market saturated with fantasy games. If players want to fly a spaceship, we obviously welcome them to check out Jumpgate,? commented lead programmer Josh Johnston.
To take advantage of the opportunity, players should:
- Download Jumpgate (http://www.jossh.com/support/)
- Create an account (http://www.jossh.com/join_today/sign_up/)
- Package up your Earth and Beyond CD, making sure to include a verified callsign and valid email address, and mail it to:Themis Group

Interesting... hopefully they advertise this better than usual. Jumpgate is an awesome game. It's only downfall has been NetDevil's apparent unwillingness to advertise the game's presence in the market.
Matter of fact the only reason I had originally stopped playing was there weren't enough folks online to make the game feel like a true multiplayer game. If they can get more folks online out of this the game could get REALLY fun.... I may even have to re-activate my own account (or start a new one ) .

Mmm, nice move. However, the requirement to send in your old E&B cd is a bad move, imo. Too much hassle for most, it will cost you extra money and some people just don't like to get rid of their original game-cd's for whatever reason, even if the game is obsolete.
Why not just up the free trial time to 30 days for a while? E&B refugees will notice and come to play if they want, but the cd-thing is just throwing up an unnecessary hurdle.
Yah I'm not sure what that's all about. One of NetDevil's biggest problems has been that they tend to rely an awful lot on snail mail for some things.
They should just have people email them their screen names or something to activate the extended trial. Most folks that try Jumpgate for more than 10 days wind up staying anyway.

I have been a memeber of the JumpGate community for a long time and I believe this a good move on ND's part. We are a small community and we do try to watch over our new players and try to help them. What is happening to the players of EnB is hard on them and we the players of JumpGate just wish to give them a chance to decide on their own how they feel about us.
ND & Themis, are doing their best for us , Good Move ND
From the stars we where born and to the stars we will one day return
Aye I agree it's a very nice thing that ND is doing. I wish someone had done it for the MPBT community when EA dumped on us.
