EBgames part-time??

Sup , I got a couple questions to anyone who has worked part-time at either Ebgames, Gamestop, or something the same . I'm 16 and my parents are really pushing me to get a job, Ive decided I dont really want to work at a fast food resturaunt or something like that. Anyone know what to expect working there ?

I have a friend who works part-time at an EB Games. He said pretty much he works in the back room, taking the games out of the boxes and putting them on the shelves, etc.

He said it's pretty damned easy, but you don't get to play the games, unless you get a really cool supervisor.

Apparently the best way to get a job there is to be friends with the manager. Otherwise it's generally pretty hard from what I hear.

The people who I talk to when I go there generally don't know much about games anyways, or are just retards in general.

As for what to expect, you'll have to be dealing with gamers all day, which could be bad, or could be good. You have to know how to talk to parents who are buying systems for their kids, too. You may end up doing alot of moving around of boxes or stuff, and occasionally some cleaning of the floor/counter etc.

From what I understand, they hire the majority of their people on as part-time only anyways.

a few of my friends work at gamestops, they say it is really easy, but it doesn't pay as well as other places that you could get hired in.  What I am trying to do (and they actually called and asked for me to come talk to the manager on monday image) is get a job at target in the electronics section, which pays about $1-3 more an hour than at gamestop.

I've worked part time at EBGames for a little over 2 years now, since I started university. I can honestly tell you that's it been an amazing experience but I'm sure alot of it depends on the manager you get.

Mine has been super supportive of my hours, I go to school full time between September and June and I also have a full(ish) time job that is in the industry I want to have a career in so with all that I obviously can't always devote 30+ hours at the EB store. If you like to talk about gaming and are pro-active about the happenings and goings on in the industry then this is a great job.

I've actually built a pretty good base of customers that will only come see me and will even call the store ahead of time to see when I'll be in, that feels really good TBH. Alot of girls will come see me because they know I'm not going to hit on them or say something stupid like: "Sims 2 box is right over there".

Either way, I would recommend it in a heart beat, I've had a wonderful time there over the past couple of years and I hope to have a couple more but again, I think alot of it depends on the manager you get because I have talked to a few people from other stores and they've had less then great experiences.

I plan on getting a job at a store like this once I get my licence, because the closest one is about a 15-20 minute drive. I can't wait. I have 2 jobs right now, one job as a dish washer/food prep. at a restaurant, and another job working as a cashier at Giant (a grocery store). The grocery store is easy but time goes by sooooooo slow. and the restaurant job is easy and times goes by decent, but it sort of just sucks. But yeah I plan on working at one of these places as soon as i get my licence because I am very up to date on the industry and I think it'll be really fun. also teh EBgames near me seems to have a cool manager, everyone who is working there is always in a good mood and seems happy.

Mall jobs typically don't pay well, but on the flip side are usually easier.  Depends on if you want to make money or have an easy job I guess.

Actually  as long as the job makes time go by quicker its all gravy.  I have a good amount of cash on me all the time even without a job.
