i heard u can get this agme onlien for freee.. is that right?? or u have to buy it.. because that's what my friend said.. and in the mall i saw this agme for sale..
There's a free trial on the front page. You can download and play for 14 days and it is both CoH and CoV. But you do have to buy the game and pay a monthly subscription after the trial is over.
Free servers are a big no for games that are Pay to Play. Only 15 bucks a month, which is cheaper then taking a date to the movies.
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't

Not to mention that if you get the good vs evil edition or both games in some fashion you can play both for the same fee.
No it looks like it is still running I went to www.coh.com and clicked on the news link from there and it works and gave me a key towards the bottome of the page in red letters.
I click on the trial offer link and there is the box at the bottom that says 'don't miss our dvd giveaway contest' and there is nothing about a trial key. I enter the contest and still no key. I go back here 'http://www.mmorpg.com/gve_trial.cfm' and still no key.

Originally posted by Status_Quo I am at my wits end. I got the email about this and want to try it out but can't get a freakin' key to show up.
Check you email, I grabbed one for you and pm'ed it. I dont have a clue why it wouldn't be giving you one unless it thinks you aren't logged in for some odd reason.

Yeah...but a game wont give u head. It also takes 2 hands too play, so you are shit out of luck . Seriously I have been married 19 years and i would rather play CoV. Enjoying it very much right now. I mainly solo and I find CoV great for that.
I have a quick question along this topic. I signed up for the 14 day free trial, and am downloading the game, however Iam now on the Fixing files part of the updater, and its rolling along nicely (downloading at about 500k/sec) untill I get to this one particualr file (piggs/player.pigg) and it just stays steady at this file.
My download speed shows the same, its just not moving anymore, like it got stuck on this file and cant go on. My time remaining stays constant and nothing fluctuates at all. It shows that I have downloaded 223M/2.1G but it just wont go past this file for some reason. I have tried to start over on this 3 times now, everytime it gets stuck on the same exact part. I waited 3 hours yesterday leaving the updater open to see if it would go past this, with no luck.
So my question is, should I just leave it open and running untill it finally starts moving again? Iam running on broadband cable, and I know it is not my connection since Iam able to visit other sites/play other online games. I signed up for the 14 day trial on Sunday, and it is allredy tuesday and I still have not been able to download/install the game, so 2 days are allready wasted waiting for this to work.

Yuck. That "checking" step can be a slow process, but it should be pretty consistent movement. Of course the good news is you don't have to do that every time, just after new patches (or if your game crashes).
When you say "start over" do you mean restarting the updater and getting the same check effect? If so, I believe the official advice is to delete the directory or uninstall the game (there's an uninstall.exe in the game directory). Then reinstall. If the actual download process went pretty quick for you, this shouldn't be too bad.
If you've done several clean installs and it's still causing the same problem, triple check the disk space and then let me know - I'll try to put that one pigg on a 3rd party DL site for you. Player.pigg is 57 meg so a rapidshare or something should work.
each time I have started over it has been a clean install, I uninstalled everything previously on there. The actuall download time only took me about 50 minutes, but the "fixing file" part gets stuck on that same exact spot everytime.
I have 250 GB of free space, so its not disk space issue.
I have tried every solution I can think of, to no avail.
I just got an invitation from MMORPG, and the game is downloading. Thanks a lot guys, I've always wanted to try it, im not gonna pay for it as I live in a poor country of South America and 15 dollars is something I cannot afford, maybe when I get a good job... but first comes the eating and living part... lol
Alright, rapidshare's been full but I got that file up on megauploader. Put it in your /piggs file and hopefully the updater won't be stalling there anymore.
That sucks. Of course, if we could get it working you could just pick up another trial key so that's not a big deal, but unfortunately I have no idea and I imagine you're sick of playing with it.
One last thing you might try. It sounds like you're downloading ok but the checksum isn't validating for whatever reason. So, run it again and when it stalls on player.pigg, cancel it.
Then create a shortcut to CityOfHeroes.exe (not CohUpdater.exe). Adjust the command line so it looks like this:
"C:GamesCity of HeroesCityOfHeroes.exe" -project coh
Obviously making sure the directory is correct for you. That should run the game bypassing the updater, but only works if the game is properly updated. Just one last thing you might want to try.
I would have loved to try this game, but ncsoft refuses me access to my account, and whenever I try to create a new one it simply doesn't ever show up. I go through all the motions, I validate it, but when it comes time to log in magically doesn't exist.

sort of, yes and no, the client is free to download. It will download all content up to that date. BUT, you need an account to login and play.
There are multiple site that offer 14 or 30 day free trials.
If you buy the retail box you get 30 days free up front.

thanks for the effort, but no luck with it. It stalls at the same exact spot again, and like before wont move on.
Im pretty much taking this as a lost cause, even if I do get it to work anytime soon, I will only have about a week left in the trial period.
dont know what to say about it, I posted the problem on the COH forums, and submitted my problem through the plaync, ask a question report. Oh well
Thanks Amarsir for taking the time to upload that file for me, sorry it was unable to fix the problem.
