Want to know what im sick and tired of? People bitching over miniscule things. If you dont like the armor dye dont use it, end of story. If you dont like the armor, dont play the game, end of story.
Do you even play EQ2? Or do you just like to show off youre ineptitude?

Yes, I did play EQ2 for a couple of months, I quit recently. And this isn't "a miniscule thing." Alot of people have quit for this very reason. That's what's forums are for, right? To bitch.
Originally posted by shae I've always hated the armor and weapons in EQ2, a good game with a mediocre artistic team who really have no idea what people want to wear. The robes especially get me going, all of one design with a dozen or so textures, wooo special! I have problems with Class specific looks either, for example I knew lots of people who went with Monk or Bruiser because they had really nice armors, but at the very least they need to offer people alternate options to be able to get a look they like. People play these characters for hours online, while it's usually better to have armor with decent stats they want to NOT puke when they see themselves, I just dont' get why they've never gotten that.
Heres hoping that the new EoF armor sets are a step in the right direction.
Least you ll be safe jogging at night. Never played EQ2 long enough to get to that armor, but wow what a disaster. Might as well go stand on a cliff and direct ships into the harbor.

Right there is all you nee to know people. We have someone who is either new to these forums or recently banned searching the internet for unattractive armor combination in a game they dont even play.
Sadly this site is is increaingly populated by people who, for whatever reason, come to this site with an axe to grind. Instead of offering intelligent commentary they come with the express purpose of trying to spread FUD about a certain game or perhaps even every game other then the one they currently play.
This doesnt mean there can't be valid discussion and disagreement but seriously people the OP doesnt even play the game and is compelled to search the internet for bad color combinations and start threads about it. Sad sad sad.
Ho my God ! Is it really possible to have such pitifull armor in game ?
i took a look at this relic armor, it looks like its made of gold and probably should, i dont get why theres a fuss about this pic, it is noble looking and doesnt look like yer normal cobalt armor, gold plated armor should be a sighn of nobalism.

Sigh.
I played on Antonia Bayle server. I had a 40 warden and 20 illusionist on Qeynos side, 25 bruiser and 29 coercer on Freeport side. I did not get any characters to max level, but I'm sure I did play the game long enough to get a feel of what it's like. Sure I can't prove it to you, but I don't care. I've seen high level max players running around in the clownish armor combinations more then I can count. It's damn embarassing. My warden was beginning to look like a clown too with blue boar hide armor and deep green pants. The reason why use "unintelligent" commentary on this game is because I bloody loved it, but it's ruined by their incompetent art department. The art is so uninspiring and bland it's obvious programmers run art section instead of real artists. They have one bloody person in their art department, how pathetic is that. I would not bother to write comments like this if I didn't care about the game enough. Those link are right from the official eq2 forums from actual players, thohgh it's kind of obvious you didn't bother to look.
I play EQ 2 now and I have not seen any "clown armor" as of yet. But if I did then so what? It's a "Fantasy World". Shouldnt people look like they live in a fantasy world?
BTW that pic of the Gold Armor actually looks pretty cool.

Yeah... I thought EQ 2 was all about the beautiful graphics? Never played myself.

Yeah... I thought EQ 2 was all about the beautiful graphics? Never played myself. You'd think... unfortunately, the game forces an awful lot of people to play at a setting that reduces everything pretty much to "meh" as far as looks go. My computer now is good enough to play with everything cranked up as far as it can go, for the most part, and the game is graphically pretty. I've played EQ2 from beta til now, off and on, and I don't find the armour or the character models particularly good looking. It's a wee bit annoying, but still better than many games I've played. Personally, I'm happy to have all my vital bits covered when I go into battle, unlike in L2 and some other games. Still, I'd love to have more customisation, both with character models and armour and weapons. I absolutely thing tutu2 has a valid point.

My comp can run on max settings, providing there aren't too many people or it goes laggy as hell. The game's enviroments are for the most part very beautiful, though there are spot where textures look a bit repetitive (particularly Antonica) However, even on max settings the game's armors are still an eye-sore so I didn't even bother. The most pathetic part is that many of the game's armors and even weapons are only different by a slightly darker or lighter shade that can't even be noticed, especially those damn robes. It just screams laziness to me and a complete disgregard to the artistic side of the game. This is one of the major reasons why EQ2 population is slowly declining, alongside SOE's going completely overboard with nerfing.
I'm sure the new expansion will bring in a few more new and old players, but the lame part is that despite it being a new expansion all the new armors are just retextures of the old armor models. When you buy a new expansion, you expect 100% new content. That's the way it's always been. Instead SOE went the cheap way. They're really shooting themselves in the feet. With so many new MMORPGs coming out, I can only imagine EQ2 becoming no more then a series of empty chat rooms. If fact, it pretty much already is, which is sad.
Originally posted by Tutu2 http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=grph&message.id=30622 That pretty much explains it all. Can someone pleae give me a MMO where I don't end up looking like I'm dressing for the mardi gras!? So damn sick of it. Virtually every character in EQ2, the higher level you go, looks like a walking clown adventurer. What the hell is it with devs. WoW is no better. Anyone with suggestions.
Go play DAoC they had dyes in game so only the texture was really important the color (except a few items) could be dyed by player made dyes, DAoC armor looks pretty good not the overblown kinda armor most mmorpg's have

Couldn't agree less. I run it at 'High Quality', which is nowhere near the max, and it looks better than any other MMOG I've played.

I have a very good, almost brand new computer with a excellent graphics card and I play it with the setting at max and the game and the graphics are lovely. I guess you skimmed over my post. I can't even imagine, however, that you think the character models are attractive. I find the armour very boring, also... which is basically what the thread is about. That most people who have lower end computers and not great graphic cards have to lower their settings isn't an opinion, it's just the way it is. I've looked at this game with my settings on low and, like just about ever game made, it looks like ass. That bit was an opinion, though.
I'm playing it now. My wings are nice but I fly like a fat fairy! I have a feeling my toes are going to end up bruised.

EQ2 armor is mediocre, and lacks coolness.
But im quite happy for it to remain as it is so I can continue to sit and laugh at SoE.
