Patching Problems

in Final Fantasy XI
Hey all. I have recently downloaded this game after aquiring a Buddy Pass from a friend, and after updating the POL Viewer I went to update Final Fantasy XI itself. This is where my problem lies, every time I try and patch, it will run for twenty or so minutes and then dit will disconnect and come up with an error saying that either:

A) - The server is busy.

B) - There is a problem with my network settings or cables etc.

I have just checked all cables and my network settings seem fine (although I'm no expert image) and even done a Virus/Spyware scan just to be safe.

This is becoming a real problem because I can't get any of the 8+ hour patch done image

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    *Bump* Still have this problem (it's error POL-1160 I think), it's eating into my trial time image. Anybody got any ideas : ?

    FFXI is really picky about firewalls, Your PC usually has one by default (At least window's does) and most Virus Scanners do, Try disabling them and see if it updates.

    The game is down for 8 hours today for an update, that is why you are unable to log in.

    Today, Yes. But that doesnt affect a week ago when the thread was made. I say its firewall issues >.>
