Having an up-to-date computer has nothing to do with getting into beta. Just keep submitting beta applications and you'll get in one some day. If you really like a certain MMORPG and want to get into their beta testing, you probably should try to join their community early on and get active on the official forums for that game. Maybe a dev for that game or community relations manager for that company may notice you and choose you for beta testing if they aren't choosing totally by random. I did that with Neocron and got in on the very first beta phase.

I tried to participate in Trials of Ascension's forum but whenever I log in and then try to move to a topic or post or do any action in the forum it logs me out and says I'm not logged in.

Your computer specifications aren't going to be the main focus of acceptance into beta since of course they want to test the game on multiple specifications.
Many base acceptance on your experience (What games have you beta tested, what games do you play) they also want to make sure you're going to have time to play (How many hours a week do you plan on playing, how many hours a week do you spend on your current games).
I'm also aware that your reason for wanting into beta is looked into. Many beta applications will ask you for a discriptive reason as to why you want into the beta.
Also, as mentioned before, a good idea would be to show active interest in the game. Participate in the forums, build a fansite, etc. These are definate ways to increase your chances of beta testing a game. Hope that helps you out a bit.

A up-to-date computer is very well needed with some of the bigger games. They have advanced so far and require your computer to do so, SOME DONT, but some mmorpg's have a high standard of comp specs to get in, mainly cus beta is bug findning, stability testing, etc. Being active on the community is a definate plus, good attitude, giving advice, some like it if you are in a guild, etc.
Theres other things that help, but for the rest, its the luck of the draw

3 factors:
- Random luck.
- Your ability to express your opinions/feedbacks so everyone understand you easily.
- Your attitude, they want folks that will feedback, not folks that just want to play ahead of time.
The 2 latest are wherever they actually check for those, and remember, they do beta to save time, not to review who will be a good or a bad beta tester, they have to handle that relatively fast.
As for computer specifications, they need folks from every subclass that at least meet the minimum requirements, so as long as you meet those, dont bother over this detail yourself. Especially that I suspect that many many alpha testers have the top best computers on the market, it might be better to be closer to minimum specifications unless you have the broad new computer that was not for sell during alpha(all new computers top in a mere month, so from alpha to beta, it is many months indeed).
