Why this game will be better than WoW (imho)

First of all, allow me to clarify my meaning in saying this. I
don't think that anything can compare to WoW in a number of significant
ways, and that includes this game. I think WoW has established
and respected instances, a huge player base, now simple pvp, numerous
ways to gear up, and huge amounts of content. Since these things
are very diffictult to compare to, both in the sense that almost
nothing could compare to WoW in them and that it would be difficult to
do the comparing, my idea would be instead to make a number of
statements about what I value in each game and compare. The
settings, I think, give LOTRO a huge advantage. Lord of the Rings
is an established license which, by all indications, Turbine is staying
very true to, even to the extent of possibly hurting it's success,
although I personally believe the real proof of success is the
closeness to the material. WoW is, in my opinion after a 60th and
40th level character, an absurd, crappy, and poorly done setting.
Most of the zones were implausible, random, and very forced, with what
struck me as poor raid design (not in the sense of not being fun but in
the sense of being inconvinient and obnoxious) and it fails to stay
even remotely close to it's subject material. I have been an avid
warcrafter since Warcraft 1, and WoW is simply too out of sync with any
of the previous games to claim it is the successor. WoW also has
(pve) battles that are very difficult, for me anyway, to enjoy
because they are either a pointless show of force by the numerically
greater side, or 40 people attacking a single target that appears very
unmenacing except that it has it's own name. The attacks are like
watching a crappy fireworks show, with a variety of implausible colors
and unrealistic effects. Naturally, what I am hoping for as an
alternative to this is a system that relies on realistic graphics and
archers taking the roles of mages in WoW, with realistic shot effects,
and a system that instead of trying to invent tons of weird characters
that I could write better locations, stories, and appearences for,
simply puts a cave troll in front of you, (hopefully triggering a
memory of a scene in FoTR) and forces you to fight for your life.
Obviously, there are many points against what I am saying, and I hope
to hear someone address what I am saying; I am at this point planning
on getting LOTRO, and the only thing that would deter me is my fellow
player base. Please respond if you think I am looking at

1. Any game is better than WoW.
2. You don't know anything about the game yet but a few screenshots and some biased beta journals. Reserve your judgement until you either play the game yourself or the NDA is released and you can ask the beta testers what they think of the game. Until then, you're no more qualified than anyone else that only knows rumors to make a judgement on whether this game will be good or not.

I've played 6 online games, including WoW. It IS a true objective comparison. WoW sucks. It's the lowest common denominator of games and is generally the introductory online game that lead people to realize there are better games out there.
WoW isn't a great game, but it doesn't totally suck. There's many much worse games than WoW. But there's so many much better games too.
1. There are many online games. PS2 has online games. Xbox has online games. Im sure your talking about MMOs though eh?

WoW is toon-town
it does what it does very well and deserves success - its just it doesnt do very much for many discerning gamers

P.S. I'm not a fan boy but just from having read a few of your threads I would venture that you know less than most folks on the forums that I have seen.
Since when have we argued before? I dont remember seeing you on any other topics, but as for this topic im just expressing what i think in facts or opinions. If you cant handle others opinions, then i would suggest staying away from most topics.

Sandinistas, they have a spectacular record and any disliking of them
comes from ignorance, no offense meant. Regardless, my overall
point was that LOTRO has an established license which it seems to be
true to and WoW is a bunch of people making stuff up. Above all,
thats what I want people to read here. Thank you.

Now tell me what was insulting? Is what you wrote your opinion? Yes ok fact not insult. Is what you wrote limited by your gaming experience? Yes ok fact #2 becauase no matter how many games you play you will never play them all and thus your opinion is based on your limited experience. Are you well respected? No well I don't have any respect for you and I would hazard most people around here don't either so.... Fact. Your tone is overly arrogant and you treat people poorly, I'm making an observation on a character trait you have displayed not insulting you personally.
On the other hand if I had said something like "You are a worthless sub-human, knuckle dragging trogolodyte without the common sense to realize your mouth breathing gutter snipe antics only serve to point out the vacume between your ears" that would have been an insult. But of course I would never say anything like that its just inappropriate.

Are you kidding!? Toontown>>>WoW! In WoW you just spam random buttons. In TT you actually have to make concious decisions about combate. Like Squirt Guns are more accurate than Pies, so if you keep missing you can change tactics to try and help yourself out. The quests are much better written too and TT's raids are a hell of a lot nicer/more fun than WoW's. It's not just throw 13390820492 mobs at you and then have you fight a cinder block monster with a special character model.
And in TT's bizare PvP, you level doesn't mean anything. As far as I'm concerned that putts it way above WoW. I can actually compete with other players instead of getting ganked. Getting pwned actually has to do with how good you are at tag and not how many hours you can devote to the game.
Oh yeah: HOUSING FTW!
An established IP means does not guarantee a successful MMO. If that were true then SWG, MXO, and DDO would have twice the customers of WoW.
