Had the potential to be the greatest mmorpg from its launch in 2003 for at least the next 5 years . Now sadly a pale shadow of its former glories .Its almost a joke that they have the audacity to release this package .

They reaaly like the "Buy this new version of the game you allready have to get a special item that may make you rich".

    The economy cringes.

    No thanks.

Some advice to anyone interested in this . . . purchase EQ2: Echoes of Faydwer instead, it's 10 times the mmorpg that SWG is.

Star Wars Galaxies, once a great mmorpg, has been such a controversial mmorpg since the drastic changes to the game.  A repackaging and a few bonuses does not change the fact that it is a very poor mmorpg.  Go with the SOE dev that have talent and stick to their vision, not the ones who abandon their subscribers.

This strikes me as a desperate attempt to save what's left of a once great, now dead game.  I only hope this means they are one step closer to putting the final nail in the coffin.  Still, I get this feeling they will keep hammering nails in long after the damned thing is adequately sealed.

[Here's a list of all the games I've played and/or my computer specs to show how much more seasoned or technologically advanced I am than you.]

SWG is infact, not complete.    Its broken in too many ways to count.

Save your money, go buy something else.

I think they release a new package for this game twice a year specialy just before christmass like this, they figure they can sucker in a few parents who will buy this for their kids thinking how much they are going to enjoy it.  Poor parents.

    KK.

A once great game was destroyed by the introduction of NGE and now they try to sell a complete package of this "new" SWG, I wonder why, could it be cause they wanna have more people on their empty servers?????

Of course it is the only starwars mmorpg around so I won't say "don't buy it"

But if you do wanna try it and you do not like it don't say you haven't bin warned

I heard they reversed a lot of the crap that got screwed up with NGE...except the easy jedi thing....so i'm tempted to try it again.

But i wont pay to try it, im content waiting for one of those "reactivated your account for free for 10 days to try it again" things to happen.

    It is not complete....

They still have not finished the expertise trees for several of the professions and there is still the matter of that huge line of sight bug that allows mobs to shoot through solid objects and kill you while you are getting the cant see target message.

Until these things are fixed the game is not by any means "complete"

This is just an obvious cash grab by SOE hoping to get some money out of unsuspecting consumers during the holidays.

    Not Fixed No way image

    Hi there

I still play SWG every now and then and its no better than it was Pre NGE.

Thay may have enabled a few things like "being able to open up 2 tool bars & allowing all display boxes like the radar and Quest box to float onscreen" to where ever you like but it is not enough to save this game. Its nothing more than what people where screaming for back in Pre CU days. To little to late SOE.image Save your hard earned cash and try other offerings that people at mmorrpg.com rate dont get fooled by the SOE hype there very very good at it.

Today one of the most iritating things they screwed up was not being able to let other guildies check harvesters  when your not around I mean what idiot came up with that bright idea you brain FART u image.

    Ps

I am holding onto my SWG accounts as I used to play Anarchy online for near on 3 yrs, then I left to play SWG I lost my accounts which I had spent a hell of a lot of time and money developing so I do not want to loose my SWG accounts just yet! again all the hard work I have put into them & money plus thay are my little Vurtual Family image Plus I will wait for something else to get my bit into whilst I play freebee online MMO's like Flyff,Rappelz, spacecowboys all good free fun.

I still play and am still having fun. The Spy expertise was announced today and it looks cool. I may have to try that profession.

I couldn't agree more. Too many loose ends
Star Wars Galaxies has made such a bad name for itself...only children that are just discovering star wars will be interested. Would be better to market and create a game for the age group with credit cards. I wonder if they still give 30days free with the software purchase(doesn't look like it...unless I missed something)
We will know its over when Wal-mart refuses to allow any SWG product on their shelves. Then maybe Lucasarts will create a mmo game that will be able to stand the test of time.
just remember....friends don't let friends play SWG

I'm playing the game again.  It really hasn't changed that much from NGE.. they only changed a few things.  I would recommend trying the 14 day free trial before going out and buying the game.

    /agree

Is this episode one new step towards the day SWG will finally die on us ? I used to be an hardcore fan. And I mean an hardocre, pre-beta, forum-hooked fan... and I was so deceived by the direction this game took that I can barely understand why people still play this game nowadays, especially with the changes it underwent since release/NGE and whatnot.

This game was so promising, full of well-conceived feature, amongst which was the class system, that I can't understand how ti went so low today.

Hopefully, a future MMO title with the same IP will restore the online franchise's reputation... in the meantime, see ya in Vanguard ;)

This will probably generate mass agro, but so be it.

SWG is getting into the best shape it has ever been in.  Rather then being mostly focused on the Jedi vs BH wars as it was pre-NGE, the game is finally focusing on what it should have been from the beginning, the GCW.  ALL professions now play a role in the war and all do so with working specials, unlike pre-cu where many professions had completely broken and non-working specials.

i reactivated my account a few months ago and all i can say is "WOW" ... i never seen a company destroying a whole game like that.

whats SOE trying with this package? who the freck will buy this? they would have done better if they just give us some classic servers like every1 demanding in theier forums. cant be that hard can it?

Meh, just wait for one of the private servers to open for pre-cu...err, not advertising them or anything.

A few months ago maybe different with right now. But i would say SWG is improving in a different route by attracting new players while leaving the old players in dust.

So to all vet players of SWG stop whining about how bad is SWG is while most of you hate it but u cant convince global players that SWG sucks. Theres always a new player to every MMO.

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

I will never go back to this game and the reasons are very simple. I don't like being lied too. Fact is that the dev team for this game have flat out lied to its players, not just a couple times but several. Its not like they gave any warning about tottally changing the foundation of the game twice, they just did it and will likely do it or something else stupid again. In the months prior to the NGE, i was promised all sorts of fixes to classes that dont even exist anymore. To my knowledge, no one involved in this game has appologized to the previous player base for there total disregard for their time wasted on the game due to revamps, that would have show at least a little compasion.

Regardless of my feelings on the subject, this new box will generate some sales and I sincerly hope new players that dont know any better enjoy it and don't get screwed by devs with a proven record for screwin people in the name of fu...er sales.

If you do end up here for info before purchase, please heed the advice of other posters and find a better game to spend your money on. I would suggest tryin COH/COV but stacked against SWG I would suggest anything else mentioned in this thread.

all these new professions are still broken.
it is still a jedi v bh game.

and for your info it was not a jedi v bh game in the beginning.
swg had a complete society, the best part of the game was crafting.
when soe nerfed crafting this killed the game (millions left the servers over a period of time)
also when somebody did make it to jedi master in the original game you could only bow to them and give loads of respect, becuase you knew that it had taken them 1000's of hours to get there, now any noob can be a jedi ( iremeber watching and being involved in 100's of characters trying to take down 2 jedi masters.

i have been unable to find a game since which would compare to the early days of swg

forget swg now..it aint worth the time and effort..you have been warned!

    "move along"

3 Year 6 months Vet since beta (i still subscribe now and then to try out the new stuff, everytime i wish i hadnt wasted my money, i cringe and cancel)

How i feel as a vet "i feel as if somebody set off a nuclear weapon within the game, killed off all my friends, all the player cities, the economy the starwars feel" in other words shafted by SOE. I know folks who put a full 2 years of their life into this game and soe couldnt give a toss..They have no respect or value for their player base, when you subscribe to this game you become a guinea pig testing their new not even beta crap. Go play something else that works and aint in beta..Beta should be free.

Well, if you like investing loads of time into a game and then having the company developing it destroy every single thing you've accomplished in order to satisfy the ego of their management staff and new lead, have at it.

    SWG... RIP
