PS3 Woes

Seems the PS3 will not be compatible with many of the previous generation's games.  Better keep your old PS2, or even PS1, if you plan to play any of your old favorites.

    Yup Sony still having issues i see... i for one will not buy one for quite some time. i see no point in it. i mean really the game selection isnt all that great sure its just coming out. and the price for god sakes who wants to pay that ill just upgrade my comp i think hehe image

    I was thinking about waiting in line for 1 of the 20 ps3s that will be available 8:00 am on friday.  Then there is a chance I could get 1 of the 10 ps3s that will be available at walmart at 12:00 am on friday.

    The only reason I want to buy one is to sell it on ebay.  Do you all think I would make a profit?  Is it worth it to buy a ps3 and sell it on ebay? (right now I'm thinking I could make $1000+)

    I am not one of those Sony Bashers I see all over the place, but I do tend to see a recurring theme with them.  I think the fate of the PS3 is tied too closely with the Bluray/HDDVD fiasco.  I hope they make a patch at some point that will save their ass on this promise they won't be able to fully back up.

    I read the article image and it said they will provide patches in the future, but they will not be able to get ALL the games covered.

    there are already games that don't fit on a regular dvd.  You're think of the wii controller when you're think of a marketing gimmick.

    The wii controller is what I call "an actual innovation for next generation consoles."

    If there are games that don't fit on a regular disc, I'd rather have to change discs halfway through then pay an arm and a leg for a console that offers nothing new. What exactly does the PS3 offer that is actually innovative?

    As someone posted elsewhere, your use of the word gimmick is incorrect.

    I had the opportunity to play the wii last night, and I was totally skeptical. Excite Truck weeeeee ><. But afterwards, it is totally awesome. Everyone who actually tried it (as opposed to criticizing it from a distance) had a blast with it.

    **On topic**
    This will be one of the ugliest launches e v e r. System issues, production issues, and games keep getting bumped. When a company defines "launch titles" as a 2 month period to make it look better, red flags should go up.

    Blu is better than HD in my opinion but I guess we'll see who wins...if either.  Someone made a chip for players that allows them to read both formats provided the player manufacturers put in a way for the player to adjust its laser.

    So? The hardware of a system means nothing to the potential of a game or program. Sure you can pull a hardware move out, but certanily not software.

    The OS in a playstation 3 is a cut down version of windows XP.

     

    And the games are programmed the same pretty much where it counts.

    Sony's always had problems with not delivering what they said they would. There was supposed to be a harddrive like the one xbox has, way back when the PS2 was coming out. Like that happened. I agree, every day, as my 360 sits on cabinet collecting dust, the Wii is looking better and better.

    Lol, I saw this the other day. I also saw today that the PS3 does NOT scale older HDTV's properly to 1080i or 720p, instead it runs the games in 480i, not even HD. So now you have to pay $600 for the console, then $1500 for a new TV to play it on.

    Not to mention, HD-DVD has already beaten Blu-Ray, its over, literally. The only thing Blu-Ray had going for it was storage, and that is now gone. As of RIGHT now, HD-DVD's can hold a max of 60 gigs, Blu-Ray can hold a max of 25 gigs. HD-DVD's can be dual layered, Blu-Ray disk cannot as of right now becasuse the format/material's are to fragile, and its still year(s) away from being dual layered, if it last that long.

    Yea, that was me about a month or 2 months ago, once again concerning the Wii. Hes just a lost troll, and console talk is his favorite snack.

    Yeah the PS3 has nothing new to offer. Just compare the 3 consoles and what they have to offer:

    Wii- innovative controller, fun gameplay

    Xbox 360- Xbox Live, good graphics

    PS3- good graphics... and uhhh.... ummmm..... yeah

    And if you look at teh games:

    Wii- Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Red Steel, Madden 07

    Xbox 360- Halo series, Gears of War, Dead Rising, Saint's Row, Forza Motorsport, Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing,

    PS3- FF, MGS

    Xbox 360 - Oblivion!   Assassins Creed!  Too Human,  Bioshock, Mass Effect,  and theres others. 

    plus Xbox Live should be the #1 reason to go xbox.  Wii is also very cool looking.
