What was your starting city in preCU?

BaronJuJuBaronJuJu Member UncommonPosts: 1,832

So what city did you first load into in preCU?

Mine? Doaba Gurfel, Corellia. Ugh, what a place

Hilly as all hell, tons of creatures much higher level than I to hunt. Spents days out in the middle of nowhere hunting with my cdef weapon. Folks rarely stopped by there and it took forver running missions to save enough to get out of there and on to Tatooine where I spent the next 3 years, running on foot end to end on that planet multiple times.

Mos Eisley, I remember loading into the city and walking around for a minute or two and suddenly I was being attacked by some NPCs. I was incapped and a couple of PCs killed them and started laughing at me. I was laughing too, they gave me some pointers and left me to find my way in SWG. Back then there was no tutorial or helper bot, I was broke and didn't have a clue what to do, but It was exciting. Every day there was something new to be learned, it used to be suck a deep game...sighimage

    Coronet!

I remember the spaceport was full of players, being as it was a hub.  I stood there for about 10 minutes listen to the conversations, had no idea what most people were on about image

    Great days image

    Restuss, Rori

I spent most of my first month in the game on Rori. I really liked Restuss it was a great place. I guess it's fitting that the destroyed my starting city...

I don't claim to be right, I'm just posting.

Read in the book this was the place for artisans and crafters, figured I should head there. Was kinda cool in the beginning, we had our own little "mini-community" of DG'ians. After a month or three most folks finally had enough cash to head to Mos Eisley, I went there as well. Spent most of the rest of my time in SWG hunting the wilds of Tatooine.

    Funny story:

I remember I wanted to go to Endor to see some Ewoks. This is like a month after release. I finally saved up enough creds to get there. So off I went. I ran from the port there in search of the little furries, and was promptly sent to the cloners by... something. I was like "well, that sucked" and went about my business. Wash, rinse, repeat. After about an hour of being killed mercilessly and all three of my bars solid black, I figured it was prolly time to head back home. Ooops! I didn't have enough cash to buy the ticket back. What to do? Missions? Yeah right! So, I sent a few /tells to folks I knew in DG and they scrapped up enough money to finally bring me back home... only took a week or so. :D

Here's to the good ol' days :(

    Mos Espa.

I remember groups going out any time of the day. How's that for a population...

Mos Eisley was the town I hung around in the most. I remember chatting with people in the local cantina as we watched the dancers dance. I also remember those buff bots giving out free buffs to people...

haha it's funny, i started in the most backwards city, with almost no population when the game first came out, which is now, after the... NGE... has become the largest hub (not hard really..) in the game, yes that's right, i began my journey in Rustess. even after the game shot into its prime.. nobody went to rori >_> i mean come on! all there was was meat! which you could get on naboo =p

my real (NPC) hometown was Kaadara, on naboo though, back in its prime when the catinia was full every night, and smithies running around... ahh and the lush rain.

anyway, i think it's funny how restuss is the largest part of the game, now, and it was for me when i played as soon as shadowfire came up, kind of went full circle for me :)

shout out to shadowfire + pheonix rising if any1 is here to read it!!! imageimageimage

Doaba Gurfel, Corellia is where I started as an Artisan.  That place was deserted and only met 1 person who had to save me after I accidently attacked a Corsec NPC

Ran around and got my ass handed to me by durnies. Running delivery missions miles into the wilderness.

Then I got twinked for the sum of 10k, it was like winning the lottery. Went and got myself an launcher, not understanding weapon certificates, and wasted 25% of my casy on a weapon I could not use.image

    Daoba Garful, Corellia.

It was night, the whole place had a blueish tinge from the street lamps.  I remember looking at my inventory and seeing my basic Artisan gear.  I quickly started surveying materials to build a Cdef rifle.  Oh...and a pair of shoes, I remeber thinking, "Just what the heck is Fiberplast?  And where did I find it?"  I then noticed the little schematic for an organics survey tool.

I remember the hilly terrain and how my scout terrain navigation skills slowly leveled up making the severe terrain a bit easier to handle.

I remember my terrible surprise after attacking the first butterfly nest.  I had NO idea that there was multiple waves of critters!  I hooked up with a wookie and we started running around killing critters and harvesting until we managed to come across some of those cats..  I cant remember what they were called, but they were fighting a herbivore and then came right at us.  I remember the very briefly thinking, "Hmm a CDEF isnt really all that great a weapon."

I remember making and selling my first Bofa treats. I think I earned about 40 credits on the sale.

Oh and who could ever forget thier first spice downer and the grinning wookie who gave you the spice to begin with.  You know the one you met in the medical center as you slowly healed people with your Stim Pack A's.

A bit later... I recall buying a Dewback from a vendor, figuring Id have a nice mount.  Of course I didnt know that I had to be a CH or hire one to train it, I remember my disappointment as my stupid "pet" didnt do anything except stand there.

I also recall the first Pistoleer box I attained, shortly after realizing that it probably wasnt a good idea to have Scout, Marksman, Medic, Artisan, Brawler, Entertainer all at the same time.

Oh who could forget that golden moment upon attaining your first Master box (pistoleer) and getting intentionally TEFed to start fighting, and the humbling experiance of finding yourself Mind Incapped after about 15 seconds.

    Those were golden, glorious days.

My first toon, Morrigane, first set foot down in Mos Eisley. I remember the second day of her existance running delivery missions on foot all across the planet, because I didn't want to waste my precious, hard-earned credits on shuttlefare, or there wasn't a shuttle close to where I needed to go. Oh the heartburning when I accidently bought a ticket for the starport instead of the shuttle back to Mos Eisley! I was devastated, having stupidly spent more of my stash than I had planned! Funny now, but I was upset then.

Mos Eisley, it was packed out with people everywhere. I played for like 10 hours straight. You know how you play a game and it gets old after a week or two, that's what I thought would happen, but it never did. I would take days off work just to grind with my friends, just to grind( it was fun as hell). What a pimp ass game, bring it back please. I miss parking my YT in an astroriod field and going into the passenger area to splice some weapons, loved it. Why did it have to end. And the people you got to meet, that was just about the best part. Good times. image
