But have they really learned?

I just read a post where some guy from SOE says they've learned from their NGE mistake.  Apparently one of the lessons was to not shaft your current customers by bringing in changes that eliminate their hard won progress.

Well I'd really like to believe that they've learned their lesson, but here's what doesn't sit right with me:

A) Their recent GCW revamp wiped out all previously earned faction ranks and points, and

B) The proposed beast mastery system will not use rancors (according to Helios) and will likely require former Creature Handlers to trade in their well loved, imprisoned pets for something else.

This evidence strongly suggests to me that Smed, Helios and the "gang" have NOT learned how to add things to the game, without eliminating player's progress yet.  In other words, "they're at it again."

No, they have not learned anything. They're just saying what they think we want to hear, which is "Mea culpa, I learned stuff." They can say that till the cows come home. Talk is cheap. Until I see it in action, I won't buy it.

And I've not yet seen it in action.

exactly. i played for over three years and my main was a Creature Handler. i would love to be able to use all my old pets again, but i know i'll have to respec or something and i'll get screwed out of what i had before - for a second time.

it sucks for everyone whose profession disappeared, but it really sucks for everyone who had a jedi. they still haven't done enough to address this problem.

    just sunset already.

Had they actually learned something, or even believed that the NGE was
a mistake, they would have done something to fix it.  Instead,
they seem content with letting the game die and pissinng off a large
number of customers, and potential customers.
