I have hopes for many of them but again, they all have somethings that turns me down. I will have to wait at the launch to see which one I will stick to it.
Spellborn -- I do not like the fact that there is no auto targeting system, reminds me the SWG NGE Vanguard -- I am scrared of SOE, since they ruined SWG Conan -- I heard it will only play on Vista, I am not planning on buying a new OS for a game WAR -- Looks way to much like WoW (you can start screaming, I mean the look from the screenshot, have the same feeling) LoTR -- Heard there will be no PvP Gods and Heroes -- Not my type of story
Again, I will have to wait til the game are live, many things can change til then. Since the list is very short on the upcoming titles, I will had one. I read stuff about Darkfall, that looks promise for my taste, but I heard that game will never come out, lots of conspiracy theory about this title.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
SoE has its fingers on both Gods & Heroes and Vanguard, and so therefore they will be made to suck somehow. Doubly so for Vanguard, which is being masterminded by a man who assumes that it is his job to torment his players and that "fun" is something that must be earned by the l33t few.
Lord of the Rings is being developed by Turbine, a developer that has totally screwed the pooch on their two previous games. The original Asheron's Call was an okay game for its time, but that was many years ago and Turbine has shown no evidence that they can produce anything other than bitter disappointments.
Electronic Arts has swallowed Mythic, making it a safe bet that Warhammer will be cancelled weeks before release. And you can bet that if this game does get out the door, it'll be on EAs schedule and not Mythic's. When it comes doen to it, I'm not sure if I'm rooting for "unfinished mess" or "cancelled for no reason". . . but that's the choice then it comes to EA and MMOs. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not.
Chronicles of Spellborn? Meh.
Age of Conan? Looks kind of cool, and Funcom is a decent development house. But, then again, I haven't read anything about this game other than the fact it will be really, really violent. Now, I'm all for mindless violence, but I'm still not really sure if there's a game under all that hype.
I was planning on upgrading my computer this year, but, to be honest, I don't see a single game on the horizon that's worth it. The companies with the funding to put out a great game are uniformly run by idiots who put marketing ahead of game design. The companies with big ideas are underfunded and, to a one, doomed. And the Koreans are... the Koreans. 2007 will be another crap year for MMOs. The only hope I have is for Bioware's unannounced project, and that's only a glimmer.
as the person stated before me typed in im awaiting age of conan and maybe warhammer, dotn know aobut warhammer yet, but i eagerly await age of conan. Funcom i thought did a great job on anarchy online and to make a game directed mainly to the adult gamers will be great. imagine a world where the players are lil kids or immature teenagers agruing about who is the bigger noob, and dotn even get me started on all those stupid chuck norris fan fact B.S. i play WoW now for the main reason its a nice comfy game and i know alot of people on there now. However everytime i hear a chuck norris fanfact i instantly ignore the person and my ignore list is pretty full now. So if age of conan can relive the adult gamers of this problem, then heck funcom can use me as a surfboard for all i care
First of all i should state im a EvE fanboi But for some time now i ahve been looking for a good fantasy mmo that i could paly during slow eve times. Slow eve times usually mean im waiting for a few hours for some gear to be constructed for me to sell or use. or im waiting for a skill to finih learning. During this slow time i like to do other things such as eat watch tv see the outside world Go to work etc.
For some time now i ahve ben looking for an mmo i could enjoy preferably a fantasy one as ive already got a sci-fi one i love. So as for the choices it was a close call between...
Warhammer :- I paly the tabletop games so that expalins why this is one of my most keen choices.
Age of cohan :- Its a gritty dark realistic [to a cetain degree] fantasy and its one i know i would enjoy.
Well i finally decided on age of cohan but it was close.
Spellborn is pretty much it for me, with a few others that I'm keeping an eye on for the time being. Originality will do it for me every single time and it's the most ambitious of what is comming out any time soon.
Whether they can pull it off is a completely different story of course, we'll see I suppose.
Why? Because time and time again I like The mmo and really get into it, and then it becomes a total let down. Like DnlL... that..... nuf said.
Vanguard.. Might as well just keep playing wow. Not that I do though.
Archlord... It was a total let down. codemasters have been involved in some pretty good games but that was not one of them.
For the most part I WAS a total mmo addict. The worst was DAoC. And ever since then any new mmo that comes out has really bored me to trears. That vanguard was putting me to sleep at my pc.. Like a 20gig Dl was not bad enought to hype the game for me, I found it was not my kinda game.
So I have given up looking into any new games and reading all the hype. with the exception of
Dark Solstice.
Because thats atleaset a pretty new Idea.
The problem I have is that each MMo that I try is just to much like the last one. They really have no unique gameplay. So two thumbs down on pretty much everything, because I would prefer to be surprised then disapointed.
Warhammer online gets my vote, it looks like they're trying to break out of a lot of the bad stuff current MMOs do. From what they say, you should be able to do pretty much everything with enjoyable gameplay, and shouldn't need to even PVE at all if you don't want to. It's not going for 'PVE grind to PVP' like EVE and UO favor (where you spend more time grinding to replace losses than actually PVPing. Hopefully the devs will not be adding anything remotely like TOA to this game, but since they did to DAOC I'll be sure to keep an eye on them.
Gods and Heroes also looks good, but the last time I looked in on them they were talking about their raids and courting raid guilds as playtesters so I'll wait and see. Age of Conan was high on my list, but dropped to the bottom since the developers have made it clear it's just going to be another raid game, I was going to buy it at release but now won't touch it for at least 6 months after release, if ever.
I vote Warhammer Online cause im a bit of Tabletop Warhammer 40K fan and am still yet to find a good game (not saying one doesn't exist) so this one either gonna be tops or stops .... im hoping for TOPS
And another Game where you can level in PvP is - Eudemons Online
Nothing good is coming out that isn't a clone of another older game. Like I said before, the next batch of games come out in 2009 and I wonder what the odds are that at least one of them will be different.
OK, STO is different.
PotBS is different.
I have no interest in either.
Maybe I just can't jump on the level-based/instanced game bandwagon.
Looking forward to WAR quite a bit, think it's just because I used to play Warhammer and 40k tabletop and really enjoyed doing so, I may be completely disappointed with the mmo. Spellborn is kind of intriguing to me, but mainly from a character creation/customization standpoint, not sure if I like the whole skill deck combat system. Really looking forward to STO and Divergence (if it actually does get made and delivers on all the stuff they talk about on website). Who knows though, I'll probably try all of them out, just cause they all look like they have some interesting gameplay aspects.
BioWare MMO's! Which will prolly be a 2nd gen MMO, but maybe we will see a 3rd gen.
Of course, you could listen to peoples like Brad, in this case it mean BioWare MMO should be a 7th gen or something like that(since EQ2 is 3rd gen and Vanguard is 4th or 5th according to him, diluating the significance of gens)! I rather keep it simple.
UO-Gen
WoW-Gen (EQ is here, as most MMOs)
3rd gen? I didn't see any yet!
In the tiny list you offered, I put WAR, but...I dunno...will give it a try, but I think they will fall squat. Won't pay to try the other in that list. Rather buy interesting games, speaking of, I still need to buy Total War 2.

My hopes are for AoC, I've liked pretty much all I've heard about it and I'd like to live in a gritty world, run around in the borderlands avoiding death and playing with a combat system that hasn't realy seen that much sucess in the MMO market yet.
Warhammer I know will do fairly well but I think I could use a break from select your button type action.
Hard to choose between the poll options, but I'm mostly keeping tabs on Huxley and Aion. Huxley is still a grey zone if it's an mmo or not, but it looks awesome nevertheless.
I'm keeping an eye out for any info on that new hero mmo by marvel, haven't heard much about it yet but I have high hopes that they'll be able to pull something awesome off.
Originally posted by qwepoi I voted vanguard because i think it has alot of potential, AoC also looks amazing from the little i've seen though, i'll just try em all until I find one I like
I voted vanguard, but I think I will try them all as well. Not sure if I will stick to any one of them though...for me UO:KR is coming out soon, and knowing me, I guess I will carry on with that, lol

Actually waiting on a game that isnt on your list and thats Gods and Heroes
Read the list again.

Gunna make it orcy. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
AoC - the most hope for.
Fury - this game looks good.
