does anyone know were i can get a film maker for my pc like it records what happends on your screen i would like to make some mmorpg movies....please reaply when able to (pls no flaming)

    I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

    Yep, you need a device known as a framegrabber.

    They make them, but many of them can't grab video when you are doing DirectX stuff, because most full-screen games grab "Exclusive" use of the video system in your PC.

    Basically the device you use has to take screen shots at the rate of the refresh of your monitor and it has to capture audio if you want audio.

    Yuo might be able to find a hardware device that sits between your PC and your monitor and grabs video out of the video signal?!?! It would also need to capture audio.

    Hmmm...

    now forgive me if I sound like a total retard as I have never tried this, but couldn't he just use the video out option on a gfx card such as the ati 9800 pro to go to his tv and record with his vcr?  I know this would only record video but he can use something seperate for recording of the audio and then attach a camcorder by use of a firewire and feed the video back into his HD and then use video editing software to add the sound.  image

    Yes, if you use a VCR, it could easily be done, but the quality will not be great. TV-Video out on a PC does not come close to the quality of the PC video.

    But yes, he could connect the S-Video (or composite video) out and his audio out to a VCR and record... But the quality will be horrible. Then you will lose even more quality recording it back into the PC again...

    Fraps slows down most 3D games a lot. It's usually best when you have a game that already allows recording in-game demos and then when you play the demos back, you use Fraps to grab each frame. There's also CapturePad, that has more options than Fraps, but hard to use in full screen.

    Personaly i play Eve Online atm and i have no such "slowing down" problems.image

    I used Fraps too,

    But i've only recorded FPS games (Unreal Tournament 2003,Unreal tournament 2004 Demo, Counter-Strike etc...)

    dude i had one before i had to reinstall my os but i dont remember the name but if you happen to find one that doesnt slow the gameplay down please tell me

    id reccomend fraps, me and my friend used to use it on endless ages to make videos, it was really fun add a bit of music, some editing and you got a really cool video
