Flyff is a game that offers monotonous hack and slash, selling in a
shop, and flying around. Beyond that, there is nothing more to the
game. There are very few dungeons or content that you can do with your
guild. I understand the Asian market may like games where all you do
is hack and slash for levels all day long but that is not what the
majority of American players want. They want a variety of goals to
work towards...something that offers good treasure for your efforts or
for solving a specific dungeon quest.
Also,
since playing their new game Rappelz, I haven't had any interest in
going back to Flyff. Rappelz has some much potential as a much better
game with way better graphics. It already has a lot of quests. All
they need to do is add more dungeons.
Unless they can add
more content and things to do in Flyff, they have lost my interest. I
couldn't care any less about having a dog running around with me as a
pet or buying a buff scroll for $5 in their "cash shop" just so I can
get 1.5X EXP for an hour. I would rather pay for more content in
their cash shop rather than paying $30 for some suit that makes me look
like a ninja.
I think the focus of the people who run this
game is in the wrong direction. It should be less on frivolous items
like pets and masks and more on quests, content, and translating to
English properly.

First of all, you do realize (right?) that Flyff doesn't require the same specs as Rappelz? I have a laptop with 64 MB video card and cannot play Rappelz at this time, so according to what you say I should stop playing to Flyff and throw my laptop as well?
Second, Flyff's atmosphere and Rappelz' are not the same at all, you are trying to compare two different things here. Who said players only liked dark, classy 3D games with adult-like characters with Uber-cool armors? Some prefer a different setup, and I'm not criticizing Rappelz here, I think it is a great game. I'm just stating what you fail to see: not everyone shares your opinion, nor your likes and dislikes. Actually, at the very best, only some people will do.
Third, Flyff like Rappelz (and like any MMORPG) is mainly about teamwork, the ability to get to make new friends and share fun and interesting moments all together. In that sense, Flyff works very well. Plus, I find it proposes a good variety of classes and unique abilities that make partying and building strategies a good experience.
Fourth, Flyff is actually very well done. Its graphics for example, I consider much effort has been done into designing Flyff's towns, characters, monsters, as well as spell/skill effects. The characters' and monsters' animations are also of a professional level.
And finally, let me restate one thing you said:
"I understand the Asian market may like games where all you do is hack and slash for levels all day long but that is not what the majority of American players want. They want a variety of goals to work towards...something that offers good treasure for your efforts or for solving a specific dungeon quest."
You obviously don't know what you're talking about here, I have rarely seen so many false generalizations in such a small paragraph. Get to know people and cultures better before starting writing "We are better because we do this and that" sentences.
P.S: One last thing, you talk about translating it to English "properly", the guys who translated it for us players are already doing us a "favor", you should be glad they did it in the first place.
No, i dont play Rappelz or Flyff, and yes i have played them so i know what i am saying.
My Brute - Dare to challenge?
Who'd win in a fight? Scorpion or Sub-Zero?
They are all the same game. I see no point in this argument because as far as I'm concerned, Rappelz and Flyff are both horrible. This also goes for the other 99.99999999999999999% asian MMOs that are pumped out at a rate of 5 titles a nanosecond from the same developer. GG

Every game in existence has some form of repetition. It depends on the game developer as to how entertaining that repetition really is.

Honestly, I played this game from the very first day it went beta.
I played and played and played.
I made a hell of alot of friends, most of which I plvled.
Many of them passed me up and became some of the higher-lvls.
I got to 50 and hit a brick wall. I literally only played to help my guildmates out.
The game was so damn slow.
I had ppl from CW and Advent that offered to plvl me, but I refused, solely cause I did not intend to play this game much longer.
You guys can say how fun this game is and how great it is, but the truth remains that there really isn't much this game offers besides grinding, "pets", fancy flying items and costumes.
Don't get me wrong, I had an immense amount of fun, but in the end, you really just want to stab yourself in the head w/ a pen just to make the pain of lvling go away.
I almost made it to 7x btw, so don't say there's a whole lot more I'm missing.
I never did take on CW though, that is the only regret I have quitting this game.
I was on top for the first month. (I missed the race to 50 by 1 day)
But then I just focused on friends after that.
IGN was Carmine (main char) if any of you remember me.
I loved the community, graphics, gameplay and absolutely LOVED giant hunting.
I really only hated the grindfest (especially having to lvl buffs as RM) and lack of inventive quests (almost all are gather-this-many-items-for-this-npc).
There were other quirks, but that's what made me leave in the end.
If you're going to flame, at least do it intelligently.
I'll just laugh at you if you can't even form coherent sentences.
PS: Rappelz was more of a grindfest, unless I missed some secret to lvling.
