Please help me fill the swg @ jtl void!

I need some help please! I am spending all my money on MMO's that are not doing it for me. What I'm looking for is interdependence with crafting/resourse gathering, customization of skill sets/prof trees. star wars galaxies at the release of Jump to lightspeed, or even at the hologrind was for me the perfect game. I would still have 3 accounts and play at least 30 hrs a week. I have played the following...and they did not fill the void:

DDO; WOW; Guild Wars; Lineage II; City of Villains; Everquest 2; FF XI; Dark and light (to be fair to DNL i couldnt get it to run well, so i never really had time to evaluate it).

none of these titles offered the solo content, open ended gameplay, crafting, economy, customization...ect.

heres the deal. If this means anything to you, My MBH/MCM would go and solo a Krayyt dragon, then I'd take the loot to MY CITY! Put the loot in the house I MADE! Log off, log in an alt harvest components and make factory runs of great items of all sorts from food to pets to houses, starships...ect. you get the idea. If anyone can tell me of a game that seems like it has these attributes, please let me know asap! Thanks for your time and reading my post.

UO AO and RYZOM? sounds great i will try them all! I am real happy you all took the time to reply and I will research the gateway?? Anyway know i appreciate your help!

thanks saft! I wish you could be more helpful too! Sounds great and I am a fan...well i played the first couple on my commadore 64! I still remember collecting mandrake root at midnight or something like that! I loved those games. thanks all for your input. i will get UO even just for the nostalgia(sp?)

EVE is cool, you are in a ship at all times though...no land. so no lag at all detail character developement and economy, not sure ill subsribe or not but it is fun.

Vangaurd and age of conan look good...so many! SWEET!

Age of Conan, with exception to player housing, since they decided not to have those at release, the crafting system meets or exceeds every single one of the points you made.

    Ultima Online.

As it stands now it is very much like what you have requested.
I believe a lot of the devs from UO actually created the pre-NGE SWG

There are some great player run shards that I am not allowed to recomend.

and I believe there is a free client download and 14-day free trial somewhere.

Also there is a program out there that technically is a gateway to all sorts of player run shards.

I wish I could be more helpfull

Good use of words. Yes there is a (2)Gateway for UO(1) players. I'd recommend UO too! image

Its best if you wait for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. it should be out in a few months. it has exactly what your looking for, although its a little rough on the solo content.

Right behind you bro, I've tried like 1123749812507862905387 other MMORPG's looking for something to fill the void left behind from SWG pre-cu..  Those days were SOO good.  When I asked someone reccomended The Saga of Ryzom. I've just installed it and I'm now patching. Its free to play forever, but non-payers are restricted to level 21 in each skill, like say you can only get to 3333 in marksman.. (to make a reference from swg.)  Apparently there's no professions you just gain xp as you go.. I'd also recommend Anarchy Online because despite its graphics, its a very intericate game, at first you probably won't like it but level 15+ are fantastic. Its also free to play until January 21, 2007 I believe.

As for EVE I didn't think much of it, but people tell me you have to play it for longer than just the 7 day trial to get into it.

    Good Luck man.

Yeh, I am the one who recommended Ryzom and, from what I have heard, it is the best place to go for pre-CU/NGE refugees. Check out the site, or vivid's last thread to see my explanation. Its based around crafting and you are NEVER forced into anything. Completely sandboxed, everything is up to you.

Yeah, been playing AO myself for a long time, but they pushed the date back (again) the free "trial" ends in 2008

    Just play SWG again.

Can someone please tell me whats wrong with SWG? I played for around 6 months or so, before and after the NGE and CU. So what if it changed. It changed for the best. There were so much hackers and exploits in the game before NGE. They changed crafting. Big deal. Atleast there still IS crafting, unlike many other, hack and slash, be the first one to the highest level games. There is one cool thing about SWG crafting; you depend on other types of crafters to make items. I love that.image

The NGE isn't that bad. And can someone please tell me why everyone says "Oh, I hate the NGE! Blah blah, etc, etc" but they never explain why? SWG is still fun no matter what anyone says. Those 6 months I played I never got bored once. (Maybe it's just because im a major Starwars fan.image)

But well, if you don't want to play SWG again and want crafting, actually, I would suggest Runescape. I know its a complete shot in the dark, but there are many skills that you level up. Im talking about the pay to play version, not free one. Even though Runescape's community is basically made of 10 year olds, the game itsself is still very innovative and fun. You can make arrows, bows, wepons, armour, runes and probably many more that I can't really think of because I havn't played Runescape in years.

Some people are most likely going to call me crazy and rediculous for choosing it, but Runescape is my anwser.

Give UO a shot, and if you worry about the graphics, then don't, as we are becoming a graphics update next year :)

Thanks again all for the input. been tryin ryzom... It's cool

Punkmonk, thanks for suggesting runescape, I'll check it out if UO doesnt do it for me. As for SWG...as I said before, I had 3 accounts. for years its all I did. The game suddenly went from 28 profs of which if you were clever with skill points you could master 3 profs, (melee stack...ect) to 9. Combinations were limitless.  The amount of special attacks, the ability to solo high end content, the interface, the path to jedi, all these things changed in a month, and to be honest, I cant remember ever being asked if i thought a change was needed. The game was butchered completely. i did go back...3 times now. The game does nothing for me now. Perhaps it has something to do with me being bitter, but for years i spent every free moment I had playing that game, and I didnt want the change.  An original rules server would have shut me up just fine. Many people have said it better than me but basically it's just flat out a different game.
