I enjoy looking at the many impressive screenshots for upcoming games but I'm always a little unsure about whether or not they are "real" screenshots. Are most screenshots sent out to promote these games actual in-game images or is it typical for them to be touched up? littlemonkey
Anything dubbed as an "In-game Screenshot" should be exactly that. Concept Art is usually not what you should expect when you eventually play a game but Screenshots are usually taken with a significantly capable computer running the game at it's utmost performance. The only acceptable altercation would be a border or a label, anything else you can usually expect to be an authentic peice of in-game footage.
I am sure they are real, but you have to consider one thing.
They probably have every graphic feature possible turned on (and possibly some that aren't going to be available in the release of the game) and the game is probably running at 10 frames per second when they take the screenshot...
They are real but not only are all the graphic options usually turned on they usually have the GUI turned off (trust me things look a lot nice when you don't have 6 boxes of information taking up half the screen). More importantly though in games where you can change the camera angles they are usually from some crazy angle you would never actually play at but that makes for an awesome picture. Sure the odd time you will use these angles when admiring the game yourself but 99% of the time you will be looking at it from some much more playable but less exciting angle.
