Worth playing now?

Hi all,  playing FF12 recently has really made me feel like playing FFXI again, i played when it launched in the US for a few weeks, didnt get all that high level (i think all my friends at work started up something else).  I tried the game again about a year after, but there was nobody around to group with, and soloing as a white mage is pretty much impossible.  I think i gained and lost level 10 about 19 times trying to solo for some xp (couldnt find a group as a white mage, go figure) and said screw this, im gone Now i see they got this 30 dollar version of the game and i got FF on the brain, is the game worth returning to?   All the other MMO's on the market have gotten old to me, would like something fresh.  I always liked the idea of this game, just never gave it any serious play time.

Thanks in advance for any and all replys.

After further reading im seeing they added a buddy pass thing, is there anyway i can beg someone to allow me to try out their buddy pass?   Would hate to spend 30 bucks and once again not meet anybody and end up soloing in a game not meant for soloing image

Thanks again foryour time.  If you can help feel free to PM me.  Thanks

Its really hard to say, I've never experianced anything like you said. Which I don't seek for a party at lvl 10 either. Maybe i'm an overachiever because I solo all my jobs to at least 15 before I seek (Yes, even Whm) But thats not important.

There are 32 Servers to date, the one you were previously on must've sucked. Or you just signed on during the wrong time. Soloing as Whm does indeed suck, Use a Hammer. If you come back again, and still want to be a White mage, Do Red mage or Black mage first. Get them to 18, Do subjob quest. That way you can use spells like Blind, Bind, Stone, Water, etc. When you're soloing as whm.

Umm, If wish to get anywhere in this game, You need to give it some serious playtime upfront. Levels 1-10 Is about 1 day's work (Like 5-6 hours on Whitemage).

Sorry, but I'm not too enthusastic about somone who quit after level 10 asking if the game is any better.(Even if you previouslly played it before, As stated, But Level was unstated) If you didn't like it then, You're not going to like it now.

I understand what youre saying.  I may have only got to level 10 the last time, but the complete lack of community at the time drove me away.  No groups (and since i was a WHM) shocked me.  I woulda thought there was plenty of people around to group with, but just wasnt the case at that time.  That and at least a little bit of frustration, heh.  Im sure if i got up a few levels and found some cool people to hang out with id be happy in just about any game image    Ive played quite a few MMO's, most of them to near end game, but lack of community and the inability to get a group sometimes ( i dont like waiting around doing nothing for an hour to try and get a group)

I'll give it some more thought, thank you for your insightful post.

Well i happen to have a buddy pass you could use, since someone didnt message me eariler lookin for the code. Well as you said you dont like waiting around do nothing for an hour for a party... sometimes it could take a couple hours later in game to get invites depending on your job. Well waiting for PTs you could go out to easier area knowing you can solo and such, farm, do quests for fame and alot of other things. Making friends isnt easy i know, but it so happens ive bought a couple world passes in the past week or two.. and have had alot of new players join. alot of em are from here ^.^ just make a thread asking whos in fenrir, i can hook you up with a world pass ^^ that is if your coming back to the game and using my buddy pass :P

just hit me up with a message, ill give ya the codes

All i can tell you for long term is that you need to invest ALOT of time,so if you can't i wouldn't bother replaying the game.I realize it is hard for a new player to solo a taru with no sub job ,but you really need to hit level 11 no matter how slow/painful it is.This is the level a whm gets cure2,wich is what you need to actually have a successful party at low levels. After a long time you will understand alot of the game ,but to save you the struggle later on i suggest you spend MORE time earning gil and less time worrying about level.Visit sites like pikkopots to understand gardening.I can tell you a few hints that easily attainable for you.Kill crawlers for silk, then sell the stacks and re invest your gil into buying 10 pots. You have to do the homework but i can tell you rice sells real fast and is a fairly easy/fast crop to grow.

Most players in the game that are serious about making gil, purchase a few mules and have 10 pots on each of these. The reason gardening is good,is that you don't have to spend the time it takes farming or mining. You have to watch the market and do a little homework to decide whats nice and easy to grow and sell.Later on you will become more curious and discover cuttings/saplings,but thats another step that a new player couldn't afford to get into yet.

You might not think 1-3k is alot of profit but it adds up,especially if you start early in the game before gear/spells starts to overwhelm you with cost.   10potsx2k=20k.  2 mules means another 40k,thats 60k a day wich is quite possible selling something such as rice.Items that are very hard to get or are sold out fast on guild merchants are usually good sellers.Region controlled merchants can also be a big advantage in your scheme of things to making gil.

One more hint before i leave you.If/when you have the gil ,spend time to craft cooking,it's not very exspensive and easy to level to a useful level. This can provide you with simple things like food for attack or drinks to regen MP or HP.Good luck the game is really a great game if you have the time to spend.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Smart post wizardry. I like how brief and to the point it was. The idea of doing stuff with gardening is pretty cool. I will only be able to group for medium periods of time so getting gill is ideal right at the beginning. White mages are tough to play because like all healer classes, you have to have thick skin (people usually yell at healers lol), but hell I'm up for it.  Trust me you might have to invest a lot of time in this game but nothing compared to Eve online.

To play Whm you need an attitude, You cannot let people walk all over you, If you're doing a good job, Deny them Cures. When they die, Deny them a raise. Let them homepoint then invite somone who isn't a little Bitch to the party. (I'm a 75 Whm btw <.<)

Just doing it once will set an example for the other 4 Members in your party and they'll usually get their asses in gear and cut the bullshit.

I have also become very burned out/bored with WoW, and would like to try something new.  I have always been a fan of the FF series, the story lines and gameplay never dissapoint.

I hear that alot of the end-game content (Notorious Monsters) are camped by Gil-sellers.  I would hate to invest the time and dedication, which is alot from what I gather, only to be dissapointed or discouraged at later levels. My question is, would it be worth it?
