You're missing so many great metal bands. Dream Theater, Slayer, Lamb of God, In Flames, etc.
I'll refrain from pissing all over Korn and Limp Bizkit. Their music does a good enough of a job doing that.

My favorite song by them is actually "In the Wake of the Bunt".
None of these is the best metal band, but if I have to choose one of those, Pantera. They are the ones who keeped metal alive. They rock, same as Metallica, but their latest albums suck.
Check out these good bands: Megadeth (old albums), Chilcren of Bodom, Opeth, In Flames, Funeral For A Friend, Stone Sour (my opinion), Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Helloween, Sonata Arctica, HammerFall, DragonForce, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, and many more.

Heh, the first one is a little less production, but it is really good.

I'd say Dream Theater, Opeth (really poetic funstuff), and Slayer.
Slayers some good oldschool shit. I really wouldn't consider Korn or Slipknot in the same category of those guys, they arent bad, just...not the same thing IMO.
Sepultra isn't bad either.
Slipknot is emo metal
