I just spent 4+ Hours downloading this game after searching every host they had to get a free one, and what happens? The .exe won't run, it just freezes up my computer making me have to reboot it. Real nice Americas Army, you're the best.
Anyone know a host of theres thats free and actually works?

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Yeah come on man. This space could have been used for the ten thousandth Eve sucks/WoW sucks/EQ2 sucks thread. You're breaking the rhythm of the pub by not making the same damn thread over and over again.
I got this link somewhere a long time ago.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I didnt have any problems downloading it but that was way back when it first came out. I'm not sure how the servers are now.
The good thing about AA is that it gives you a good feel for the kind of training that soldiers go through. Being a Vet from the first Gulf War, I found it pretty interesting.
lol. You're kidding right?

ANd use a download accelerator...
America's Army is the best free FPS, and it does work. Any downloadable game can have errors. It's the internet that is to blame, not the game. Re-download it and I'm sure it will work, unless your computer is to blame.
As an aside, what a bunch of dickheads we have that frequent this site. EDIT: I am speaking of the smartasses who responded rudely to your post.
Uhh.. No, it's a FPS. There is no persistant world and the game is done in matches that reset after somebody wins. There is no part of AA that you could consider a MMOFPS. Planetside is a MMOFPS.

AAO has allways been a hit an miss for downloading,.Been playing it since 1.5 and sometimes it DL's no prob, other times its painfull and frustrating. its by far the best FPS out there for clan play..or ladder matchs..Its a simulated game not arcade,.Most of the time players that like Call of duty or CS dont like AAO,.I like them all,. but im rare it seems..
Make sure your anti viris is turned off,,and use a DL manager..sometimes it helps to reboot after unpacking it befor you try to install...Good luck.!
Next time...if its not MMO's then it goes in the off-topic section
anyway, i myself despize AA, because i find it a bad FPS with bad controls.
Give me Red Orchestra

Rightly Said. Rightly Said. And i've played AA and i dont truely like it.

What part of what I said did you not understand?

your actually right on, not sure what the hell he is referring to but i agree it is interesting and kind of cool the stuff you learn from playing this game.
although i didn't much care for the actual game play, it was alright but pretty good for a free game IMO.
Half of that crap doesn't even exist the other half that does exist isn't even close to reality.

The game is realistic yes,.It allso simulates some fundimentals about combat,.like taking fire and guns jamming, teamwork group tactics,.and training the eye to spot enemy movments...
But is it like real life war? no,.. is it like paintball? yes,.
The game starts off in a virtual recruiting station for starters. While there you learn more about the army and watch video's on the different MOS's they have. Before you can engage in multiplayer combat, you need to go through a form of Basic Training. In this Basic Training you are introduced to actual equipment that is used in the Army. You also get to fire (virtually that is) actual weapons used by the military. This is all done in a Boot camp style enviroment.
Personally this was the closest a computer game ever came to recreating my days back at Fort Dix in NJ. Unfortunately Fort Dix was shut down in the 90's. At the time it was the oldest active army post.
Now the whole "Unreal Tournament" crowd will be disappointed with AA as it's more of a tactical simulator. But if you're interested in playing something a bit more realistic then AA is worth the try. After all it's free.
I havent played the game in a long time but I've heard from a little birdy that they came out with some update versions that have better gameplay and graphics. It may warrant checking into again.
Its not the same as oldschool,.. Mainstreem and hackers have taken there toll on the game, its got a lil more of a arcade twist to it now,.but still feels like a simulation,.. still good for competitive ladder matchs and clan battles..
Its not as hard as it used to be to aim,..they tweeked the aim help alot since 2.0,.since then the game has gotten alot of new kiddies playing,..heh. but since its free hackers are around each corner and playing on public servers is the shits...
