You win something, completely free, above hundreds of thousands people that have been waiting to get in for 3 years and know the game, it's developers and it's community inside and out. You WIN this from a company whome you know is in it's final months of ACTIVE development and is probably working around the clock to get a quality product out in to the market and even with EVERYTHING going on they still had the courtesy to at least take a minute and tell you they are getting to you shortly.
And even with ALLLLLL that, your going to start to say that Spellborn is losing credibility because they havn't gotten to you fast enough? Because they might take what... 1 week, 2 weeks, ok lets say worse case scenario even 3 weeks longer then they thought it would be?
Wow well you know what, I feel horrible for those that lost a chance of being in Beta and you managed to get in but just so you don't freak out to bad, no company has ever run a beta better then the boys and girls over at TCoS so don't get your knickers in a bunch to quickly, I'm sure you'll be getting notified of something really soon.
Originally posted by Amorphism I was expecting one of you to try to turn me into a whining asshole, so congrats shae, you got the job.
Well, depnding on your POV this could be a whining post but I think that I'm not asking for something out of the legitimate realm, because they, as you say, "at least take a minute and tell you they are getting" but with a date - two weeks. I didn't post this exactly on the day they promised to notify us, I waited.. and then thought a word in the subject would be nice.
shae said: "and even with EVERYTHING going on they still had the courtesy to at least take a minute and tell you they are getting to you shortly."
By the way, Freeze is a PR manager, so letting people know things on the game over online boards is one of is job functions, so don't make it so big as a courtesy, you're really exaggerating.
Well firstly Amo, I didn't call you an asshole or accuse you of whinning. Had I felt that way, and ask anyone in these forums, you'd know it because I would have said it. I don't think you are either and if you got the impression thats what I was trying to impress on you then I appologize as I was probably harsher then called for.
My point WAS this though. It's a rough time for the folks over at TCoS and they are working their collective touches off. You are absolute right, it is Freezes job as the PR guy to get information out but it's also not his only responsibility, his is a very WIIIIDE sweeping title. In times like this, hours spent at work are chaotic at best, it only stands to reason that some things will take some little bit of time and I really don't think thats unreasonable considering the goings on.
Also, as I said, lots of people have been waiting for YEARS to get into beta. They have been part of the community, contributed and have loved the project from the begining AND still have yet to even be considered for a Beta account. Someone getting their 'rant-on" about not being responded to effeciently enough is well... a little rude to these people and it would be great if you could perhaps just a show a little class in this instance and know theres others out that would absolutely love to be in your position, having a Beta secured and waiting for you shortly.
Beyond all that! There are large posibility's that there is a overall plan to get you into Beta properly, with a minimum amount of technical difficulty's for you to endure. This takes planning and clarifying before everyone knows what's going on, if there is a hold up, I'm sure that would be it.
Sorry for not getting back to you before the specified date.
The last few weeks have been extremely busy with a major presence at the G* games expo in Korea and numerous engagements that have resulted from this undertaking. While this didn't have any effect on the development progress, it did take quite some effort from our marketing staff. That same staff is also responsible for a new upcoming trailer that is scheduled to launch on the 30th of November. The content of that trailer got the attention from some major entertainment outlets, which again drove our marketing staff into working 24 hour days.
Behind all this good news lies that sad fact that we didn't deliver on our promise; something that we will make up very soon with an email update too all winners.

nonsense i appied for beta a few days ago on spellborn, i know there is no chance of me geting in anyway i just thought out of randomness, hehe a very long que for beta testers. im in a simiar position myself i asked a gm from 9dragons about server irregularities and havent had a response for almost 1 week. i know how frustrationg that is but i wait.
ever heard of the saying. 'good things come to those who wait'?. patience isnt a virtue of mine and i hate having to wait for things, heres something else for me to think about while im at it. i love formula 1 racing and it wont be on until next year, march 18th about 125 days away from when this post has been dated, its along time. but relating to what this was about, well i think you can figure it out.
I think its good to apply for betas for games you think your going to purchase even if you know you wont get in.. i imagine that it helps give the developers an idea of the population they will have once released, and thats good for every one although i have never made an mmorpg so this is purely suspicion.

If you read the rest of the post by Freeze you'd know that they said the US servers will be up before the end of the month. The month isn't over yet...
Here is a copy of Freeze's post from the "Gratz Everyone" Thread here in the forums... In case anyone hasn't read it...
Hey Guys,
A quick update here from Spellborn HQ:
First of all, we are amazed by the amount of competition entries. While these numbers make us very happy, we will make sure that we can give all the people that didn't win a fair chance to join the open beta when it starts at the end of this year/early 2007.
We are currently finalizing our servers in the <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />US. Since Spellborn requires optimal server connections, we don't want to put the non EU contest winners on a European beta server. This will mean that all 250 contest winners will be allowed to join the beta at the same time as soon as all US servers are up and running and are tested by are QA department.
Expect your client and beta login before the end of November. This might be a disappointment for some (or many) of you, for which we apologise, but we have worked on this project for years and we want to show it to you in its best possible form.
We expect to get the full list of winners from the mmorpg.com staff within the next few days. Winners can expect more details and information via email within 2 weeks.
For those of you that won a beta invite, feel free to send me (Freeze) a pm on our website (www.tcos.com) if you have any questions or comments. On a side note; we will replace the client on fileplanet before the invites are send out. It will save you a lot of time and bandwidth to not download the current client.
Thanks again for understanding and i hope to see you all soon in the world of Spellborn.
Not that TCoS is loosing credibility. It is just that they are a small and young company and always have had problems handling things properly. They have always had problems to deliver in time and alway informed people late. It is just the way things are. I suspect they just dont have to money to hire the people to handle these things properly. I guess that will change when the Chronicles of Spellborn become a hit.

true, you can't expect them to have a team the size that Blizzard Entertainment of Sony Online Entertainment got. they're still in a young phase and trying to survive, but look at CCP of EVE Online, also a young company but now they're one of the most respected developers in mmorpg business and still they stay independent
i really hope that Spellborn International will have the same future as CCP
I love people who make posts like this, then when they are flamed for it they say, "What I was just asking a question!?!?"
Yeah right....
That is like you went to an internet forum on race relations and made post title "Are niggers stupid?"
*post gets 1000 flames*
OP: "What? I was just asking a question!!"
Yes, that is an extreme analogy, but you get the point. Your purpose of this post was to flame the company because you were an unhappy little child who didn't get what he wanted when he thought he would.
i almost feel sorry for the people who feel this way. it has to be rather crappy to have nothing better to do than wait to test a game, and then cry when you can't test it as soon as you'd like, and ontop of it all, actually be delusional enough to think your backhanded idle threats about being a possible buyer of their product and that since things aren't going your way they better watch out!!! seriously. no one cares, you'll probably still cry to your parents and get them to shell out the money for the game regaurdless
anyway... yeah... you and all the drones that think like you are whiney asshats
please watch your mouth. one of these days someone could wind you up and you could end up somehwere you wont like. as for the topic and not whining and spammers namly last post. the is not even loosing credibility the forums are buzzing everysecond like moorpg.com witch means there are alot of people who want to play the game.
you might not notice it but there are men and women creating these games like tcos and sto. so be it as it may that wont change, not just yet, so live with the facts of life. spamming wont get anywhere anyway, just more people causing problems.
the first beta will be in jan 07, Q1. good luck to all beta ticket winners, and picked winners.
