I was on Youtube, and just looking through the videos and decided to try this game again. I just have a few questions.

1. What is the ship customization like?
2. What kinds of ships are there?
3. Is it hard to make game currency?
4. Is it hard to interact with other players?
5. Will anyone help you out?
6. Can you customize you ships with different guns and whatnot?
7. Is the PvP really hard for a newbie?
8. Does it take longer than 3 months to get the controls down?
9. What are the death penalties?
10. Can you ever get lost in space?

Thanks.

    1. What is the ship customization like?

quite complex, although for the moment you can not customize the looks. better see it yourself getting a free trial

    2. What kinds of ships are there?
if i remember correctly there are 4 shuttles, 23 frigates, 8 interceptors, 8 cover ops, 8 assault frigates, 4 destroyers, 4 interdictors, 16 cruisers, 8 heavy assault cruisers, 4 logistic cruisers, 8 recon cruisers, 8 Battlecruisers, 8 command ships, 12 battleships, 14 industrial ships, 8 transport ships, 4 freighters, 4 dreadnoughts, 4 small carriers, 4 big carriers, 4 titans + many special faction ships

    3. Is it hard to make game currency?
not really, what is harder is not to loose what you gain.

    4. Is it hard to interact with other players?
not at all. EVE has one of the nicest and most helpful communities around

    5. Will anyone help you out?
not likely. at least not a stranger. but is very easy to get in a player run corporation, where you will receive all the help you will need, mostly during your first weeks. not only money or ships, but most important, knowledge of the game.

    6. Can you customize you ships with different guns and whatnot?
yes. each ship has 3 categories of slots. high (guns/missiles usually), medium (electronic devices, shield modules) and low (damage improvements, armor modules)
on every category you can fit from 1 to 8 different modules (depends on the ship), and there are many different modules to fit, and then, every one of them, usually has many versions (tech 1, tech 2, special nammed versions)

    7. Is the PvP really hard for a newbie?
for a lonely newbie yes, very hard, almost impossible. but 4 or 5 new players (between 1 and 3 months) can make a powerful team.

    8. Does it take longer than 3 months to get the controls down?
no, not the controls. but it will take you quite more than 3 months to understand everything that is going on the game, and all the most advances features.

    9. What are the death penalties?
you loose your ship and everything that was on it. the ship gets destroyed and leaves a loot can (soon also a salvageable wreck) with anything that wasnt destroyed along with the ship.
then you find yourself on your pod, which is extremely vulnerable, and if it gets destroyed will destroy also all your implants (plugable items that give you different improvements) and if you didn't have an up to date clone, you will loose some skill points

    10. Can you ever get lost in space?
well, you can, but only if you wish, since there is a map that tells you where exactly you are, and how to arrive to any other place.

    Thanks.

    1. Graphical - None, functional - unlimited. Fitting your ship correctly for the current situation is half the combat.
    2. Over 200 ship ranging from 50m long interceptors to 50km long titans.
    3. No, there are a large number of ways to make ISK, some easier than others, some more fun than others.
    4. Yes and No, you don't normal help strangers doing mission etc because that stranger could just as well kill your ship and take your loot. You normally limit your interaction to your corp (guild) or alliance (guild of guilds), unless you are a pirate of course and go out and kill people :)
    5. Most likely, at least if you can find a good corp to join, if you can't find one there are corps setup by players to specifically help new players so you shouldn't have any trouble.
    6. Yes, see question 1. There are 6 types of weapons, Projectile, Energy, Hybrid, Missile, Smartbomb and Drones, each type have subtypes and the subtypes have subtypes etc. In total there are several hundred weapons to choose from.
    7. Yes and No, pvp requiers a lot of skill from you as a person, it's not going to be the level of your character (eve doesn't have level but what can be considered the eve version of them) that limits who you can or can't kill. Even if you are just a week old you can go up against someone who played for 3 years and win.
    8. No, it takes more than 3 months to learn the game (I would say it takes more than 3 years :) ). But the controls of the ship you will learn the first day.
    9. The ship you fly is destroyed (you can insure it and get effectively 66% of its cost back), around half the modules (guns etc) are destroyed and if it's a player that killed you he can loot whatever is left. Basically you loose everything you carry on you. When your ship is destroyed you are ejected into an escape pod. If that pod is destroyed all implants you have will be lost and you might loose some skill points (but only if you forgot to buy a new clone last time you died, so it should never happen).
    10. Only if you haven't learned to use the map :)

    1. What is the ship customization like?

Each ship has a hull, you cannot customize that.  Each ship, however, comes with a different set of "slots", divided into high, medium, and low, which you outfit with various modules that do different things (weapons, shields, armor, electronic warfare, etc.), so you customize very much what your ship is capable of doing.  In fact, outfitting ships is a serious business and many people take a lot of time testing various loadouts until they find one that they like for a particular purpose.

    2. What kinds of ships are there?

There are many, ranging from small and fast frigates to intermediate sized cruisers to large battleships and beyond.

    3. Is it hard to make game currency?

It's the main "grind" of the game, but it isn't all that hard.  There are many options to do it, including running missions, manufacturing, trading just to name a few.

    4. Is it hard to interact with other players?

No it's very easy.  New characters are placed in a newbie corp together with other new playersd (and older ones who chose to never leave the newbie corp), and there is also a help channel that is very useful for new players.

    5. Will anyone help you out?

Yes, if you seek it out, people will answer your questions.

    6. Can you customize you ships with different guns and whatnot?

    Yes, as I mentioned above.

    7. Is the PvP really hard for a newbie?

One on one PvP would be hard against an experienced player, but a new player as a part of a group can be very effective in PvP even against an experienced player.

    8. Does it take longer than 3 months to get the controls down?

No, it shouldn't.  EVE is mostly a mouse/right-mouse game with context sensitive menus.  There are also hotkeys for modules slotted on your ship, but other than this it's not a very hotkey intensive game compared to many other ones.

    9. What are the death penalties?

Severe.  If your ship is blown up, you lose your ship, its modules and its cargo.  It will "drop" a canister that contains a small amount of modules and/or cargo, and typically the victor will scoop this up as booty.  When your ship is destroyed you are jettisoned out in a capsule pod, and you have the chance to escape if you act quickly.  if you don't escape, and your adversary destroys your pod, then you either lose skill points (if you did not have a clone purchased), or you burn a clone, meaning you have to buy another one.  Most ships are insurable, meaning that if they are blown up, you will get a certain amount paid as insurance payout, the level depending on what level of coverage you bought.  Insurance is not effective with the more advanced ships, however, as the payouts do not scale with the cost of acquiring them.  So if you lose in PvP, you lose your ship, your modules, your cargo, and potentially your clone.  It's a pretty severe death penalty.

    10. Can you ever get lost in space?

Not realy, there is a map to tell you where you are.

    1. What is the ship customization like? Ok right now you can fit 1000's of modules to your ship. soon tho in the next month you will be able to fit rigs to your ship that can upgrade yuor basic atributes and stuff also we will get booster drugs that do the same if only tempory. also in future invention is comming out where you can further permanently alter your ships stats. Cosmetically next monh you will be able to put your corp logo on the ship.
    2. What kinds of ships are there? There are over 100 types of ships ranging from interceptors to battleships to dreadnoughts to tians.
    3. Is it hard to make game currency? No not really i make a billion a month doing courier agents farming the storyline agents for the rewards thay get you and when you agent loyalytypoints get between 15k to 24k you get connection books that are worth a lot.
    4. Is it hard to interact with other players? Not at all this is one of eves strengths.
    5. Will anyone help you out?Yes just ask in the corp channel or your empire channel or in the help channel.
    6. Can you customize you ships with different guns and whatnot? Yes there are 4 races and you can use any races gear if you ahve the skills trained to use them but remember your ship will be designed to use its own races guns only. It can still use othe races but not as well.
    7. Is the PvP really hard for a newbie? It can be at first for a true newbie but if you join a good corp they will help you out here.
    8. Does it take longer than 3 months to get the controls down? lol no in fact its possable in 1 month if you know what to train for and you ahve a set goal in mind for example specilising in your races cruisers.
    9. What are the death penalties? If your ship is blown up you lose the ship and some modules too the rest goes in a cargo can to be looted by whoever comes by you go into an escape pod. if the pod is detroyed you die and get respawned in a clone body which you will ahve to buy and ensure it can hold more skillpoints than you ahve so you dont lose any skills.
    10. Can you ever get lost in space? Not really there is a comprehensive map once you get the hang of it.

    Thanks.

    1. What is the ship customization like?

Is really good and you have several ways of fitting your ship to match the gangs you are in and ofcourse depending the on your enemies setup if you have some intel about it.

    2. What kinds of ships are there?

There are ships for all different taste, all from small and fast to big and slow. Pick your choice!

    3. Is it hard to make game currency?

Is not easy but that the beuty of the game, as you know easy come easy go. You will have to work for it but it's nothing impossible, we all are doing it so why not you.

    4. Is it hard to interact with other players?

Not really, you can join a corp and there you have players to play and communicate with, there are aswell several tools you can use to communicate like teamspeak or similar witch make the game playing more easier.

    5. Will anyone help you out?

yes, if you join a good corp they will help you to get into the game and get started.

    6. Can you customize you ships with different guns and whatnot?

yes you can customize the fittings(setup) or your ship but not change colour or similar. but you can for example fit close or long range ammo togheter with some equip to boost target time or damage dealing etc.

    7. Is the PvP really hard for a newbie?

Well you as noob will be cannon fooder but this somethimes really fun, you will be IN MIDDLE of the action and if you are in a good gang and you do your share you will probebly help your corp mates to take dowm targets.

If as noob will not be able to do much solo  but in time when you get more and more expirence you will have more and more options.

    8. Does it take longer than 3 months to get the controls down?

Hmm it actually a hard question, it depend on how active but i would seay 3 months is a fair time to get everything in order, and ofcourse in this game you never stop learning.

i been playing for over 2 years and i still learning :)

    9. What are the death penalties?

Well the death penalties is that you will loose your ship and the equipment you have on it, some items will servive the destruction and it will most likely go to the guys that destroyed you(loot)

So the more you kill the more items you will get, when the it comes to penalties you will get a lower security status if you kill in low sec(0,0 - 0.4). the sec status goes from -10(pirate and outlaw) to +10 but i have never seen some 1 with more then +5 in standings ( carebear).

in 0,0 system you dont get any security penalties but there you fint most of the time the more experience players.

in high security systems( 0.5 - 1.0) you will get killed but concord = npc police, here is where you find most of the noob players dude to the safe mode in the game.

    10. Can you ever get lost in space?

No not realy, you have several options in the map that help you find the way home. You can set destination system and it will show you how far it is and how kind of systems you need to travel through( low or high sec systems)

    enjoy the game
