SE is killing FFXI now... very funny

I think what SE is doing now is very funny.  This game has had so many ups and downs with the economy.  People that love the game will try to defend it... but its true, the economy sux.  I love the game, but i just have to admit it.  I have been playing off and on now for 3 years, so I know.  I have seen items go from 100,000 to 1,000,000, to 3,000,000 to 15,000,000 back down to 7,000,000 and dropping again until it down below where it started at.

For alot of people that has ruined the game so they quit.  The problem is, lets say you want an item worth 2Million (M)  and you have 500thousand (k), so you decide to farm for it. well.. aftetr 2 weeks of hard work, you come back to buy your item, and its now 3.5M.. and it happens way to often, only people that could ever really keep up were the gil buyers/sellers.. botters, and people who got the game at realease, or crafters (which alot of them are even botters).  Anyway, the point is, this game is 70% cheaters, which is what brings me to the point of the post, SE is going to kill FFXI.

Today they banned 11,500 accounts, in an effort to stop FFXI from dying the way it has. I personally am glad, I think you lazy people that need to cheat in an online game where you know it just ruins it, should be banned from all online games :D.  My point is, Id say literaly 70% if not more off FFXI players either buy gil, sell gil, use third party tools, or use a windower, and now AFTER 4 years, they decide to get smart and get rid of these people... makes no sence... your too late SE.  They are gonna ban 10k accounts week after week, until they realize they are ban almost the entire population, then the player that didnt realize thier friends were buying gil or selling thier extra gil or w/e are banned, they are gonna leave too.  Once servers start merging and it is a FACT that FFXI is dying... the game will end quickly... its an old game.

I came back to this game after 8 months, I still lover it, but it really dont have the same feel to it anymore... for some reason its not as good as it once was for me at least.  Anyway, I had to post my thoughts, and how funny it is that SE is finaly doing the right thing... at the wrong time,  just hope the next online game they make, they do this b4 the game gets ruined.

or like what happens in most MMOs, when SE cracks down on gilsellers and cheaters get banned, the rest of the population that loves the game will straighten up and fly right.  believe me ive seen it many times.  not everyone wants to cheat.  i never did, and i knew many people that didnt as well.

    Wow...

You're actually bitching about them finally dealing with the problem and fixing the economy? Do you realize what they're doing by cracking down on RMT has actually successfully run some companies out of the game completely?

    This is a *good thing*.

Go to a certain website that sells gil, it's a variation on GEI, and look at their FFXI section.. every single server has "currently restocking - pre-order now!" Looks like they've been feeling SE's wrath.

This, too, is a *good thing*.

The prices are coming back down to what they should be - to more reasonable and sane levels. Yes, it's going to hurt some people in the short term as they won't be able to make back as much as they paid for something.. and it's unfortunate, but they also aren't going to need as much to purchase other items as they would have before either. It will all balance out in the end.

I wish SE had done this sooner.. but it's a damn good thing and it's about time *someone* in the industry took a strong stance against it, instead of the wishy-washy "well, it's complicated" crap others have... or to the other extreme.. going the SOE route and actually embracing it so they can get a piece of the pie with the whole Station Exchange thing (not surprising at all coming from them, though, shameless greed is their only creed).

To think someone would call dealing with a serious problem in all MMOs "killing" the game... -roll eyes-

Oh.. and as for your comment about them stopping the game from dying as it has... according to whom? You? Why is it dying? Because you left? Their subscription rate has not fluctuated since I started playing it - with the US PC release. Any change in recent months will largely be the obvious result of them banning accounts.

Yeah I agree with you on some points. I think its a good thing though that SE has finally cracked down on the gil sellers but you cant say they havent done anything in the past. I know for a fact that SE has booted many a gil seller just maybe not this many all at once. The thing with ffxi is that Ive been playing it off and on just like yourself since its debut on PC it just dont feel right anymore idk what it is there is lots of new content added and the old content is still good im just holding on to the game right now prolly until Vanguard comes out cause thats the only MMO coming out soon that I can see my self playing and enjoying. The bottom line is though that hopefull this will help things and just because prices on AH are low doesnt mean its better. Because when prices start to drop on expensive peices of gear the price of the stuff people are farming and selling is dropping even more. Its all relative but the bad thing now is that farming just doesnt cut it anymore. You have to be high lvled craftsmen to make any good money now and even then to make the best depends on what craft you are. I personaly have goldsmithing lvled but let me tell 8 months ago i could make a stack of gold ingots and sell it for over a mil now im lucky if i get 250k for a stack thats just rediculous. So in closing i guess ill just try and enjoy my few months left playing ffxi for the last time and look forward to new and improved MMOs like Vanguard and possibly some others idk yet.

Wow is right.. pay attention, of course im complaining about them FINALY doing somthing.  It has been a well known fact that gil sellers and what not have been heavily influencing the game for years... people are finaly starting to take thier own action and quit or move on w/e.  So all this is, like i said before, is SE's attempt to stop people from quitting, because the game is at a critical point, and like the last post stated, there are actually some good games finaly coming out, and if SE dont fix something, FFXI will die.  Just as a person that can put my opinion out there whenever I feel, I would like to say that YES, iim complaining about it, why worry now, funk it!! let the idiots sell the gil, and the bigger idiots buy gil if they want, they have let them for 4 years, why not now, the damage has been done.  Its just frustrating to watch a great game get ruined the way it did, when we now see what they could have done all along... and please you flammers, by ruin the game i dont mean litteraly, but for lack of a better word... it gets the point accross.  I really dont see how you could disagree with this point, but if you do ok, have your opinion.  BUT, the next time SE makes a online game.. I EXPECT verry verrrrry verrrrrrrrry little to no problems like the ones in FFXI, because now we know for sure what they can do.

Cracking down on the farmers is so easy, its just SE has been lazy with this. The farmers are always in the same areas, always with the same retarded names, normally 3 letter names and shit.

All SE has to do is regulate and inspect achtivity in places like Zi'Tah, if you have been in Zi'tah for more then 12 hours, guess what, your a famer.

Bigger issue for me is the HNM botters, there is not ONE grounds/kings/hnmls THAT DOES NOT USE A BOT TO WIN CLAIMS.

I KNOW, this is not popular because I like it and have used it, Windower has to go. W/o Windower you cant cheat, so the logic is if you kill windower you solve issues with stuff like argus and all the other shit tools.

In large part, SE uses SOE's DNAS security system, SE needs to scan for third party apps, stuff like argus and burners ware software is not detected, SE needs something like a "warden" to check for these sigs...

Bottom line, FFXI is the best mmorpg out and will continue until MAYBE vanguard. FFXI has an amazing crafting system but if 98% of the players cant craft then whats the point of even having it, SE needs to fix the crafting system or change it. Maybe adopt Sigils work order ideas, idk.
