Western theme

By looking at the screen shots I noticed a western theme in some shots.  Even a confederate flag pattern on the floor of a building.  WTF?!  This is a fantasy genre.  Apparently fantasy mixed with the US Civil War is okay and realistic.  When I saw this all I could do is say you got to be kidding me.  I think this is a sign that the game is clearly being made by a group with no vision for authenticity, and lack of imagination. 

My suggestion is to cut your loses and dump the game now before you lose money on this thing.

    OMG! First of all get off the drugs and then tell me what Greek Mythology is? FANTASY correct? I can look at screenshots of other MMO's and say I see flags and it's not fantasy because it looks like Medieval times but you know why I don't? Because it's a GAME!!! "Apparently fantasy mixed with the US Civil War is okay and realistic." Why wouldn't it be? Sorry, Take that P.C crap some where else. Clean your screen if that's what you really see but I highly doubt it...

    Clearly you're an idiot.  Sorry I can't put it any other way, but PC stands for political correct and there is nothing about this that even remotely relates to the term PC.  This topic relates to authenticity.  It's just lame to mix these themes.  What if in SWG there was a ford mustang, or in WoW there was a continent called Europe or something lame like that.  It's the same concept.  You can't mix RL themes and history with 'fantasy' games because it loses the authentic vibe.  The game is set in 300 BC...guess what the Civil War mixed with the wild wild west hasn't happened yet son.

    And don't worry I'm sure you'll learn all about the Civil War and the era it took place in your next grade :)

    Can you post a link to the shot you were talking
    about?  I have seen no such thing as a confederate flag and we have gone
    to great strides to add a huge amount of accuracy and realistic settings to the
    game...but that is key to keep in mind.  This is a game, so we have to
    take some liberties.  But I am very unclear as to the Civil War themes of
    which you speak.

    You'll see the western theme buildings in one of the screens on this site.  The condfederate flag pattern is the carpet/rug for the western building.  I believe the screen was removed because it is embarrassing, however, I do not believe that the confederate flag pattern has been removed from the game itself.  Probably just don't want people to see the crap setting until they've already subscribed to the game:)  It is possible that GH came to their senses and removed this, nontheless, the western architecture doesn't fit 300 B.C.  If I come across the screen that was released with the flag pattern I will be sure to post since it is no longer available here.

    I'm pretty sure you are mistaken.  I've scoured through
    all of our screenshots and don’t see what you are referring to.



    I would also like to remind you that just because one group used certain architecture
    and symbolism, doesn’t mean it was created or used WELL before that
    group.  Which is probably the case with what you are referring to.  I
    would encourage you to do some research on that sort of imagery in Roman times. 
    I will also talk to the art team and see if i can find what you are talking
    about and post any reference images.



    And FYI, a bunch of old screens have been removed since we did a full graphical
    overhaul of the game about a hear ago.

    1.  Do all the research you like, you won't find western architecture in 300 BC:)  I think you can trust me on this one, but if you want please look it up.

    2.  It was removed no doubt about that (I'm not just making it up for debate), and hopefully because it was found to be rediculous and not because it needed to be graphically enhanced.

    I did actually find the pattern of which you speak.  I
    can understand why you could mistake it as a confederate since it is a large X
    with a typical Roman geometric pattern in the middle on a terracotta tile
    background.



    Yeah, it's not a confederate flag by any means but I understand why you would
    think it is.  Also, it has not been removed and there are no plans to remove it.



    As far as the architecture, you are just wrong.  There are NO western architecture
    only style building in the game, period.

    umm.. just wanted to say that 1: its a game, 2: ever stop and think that maybe the confederate flag and western architecture was based on something... hmm... lets think... what is one of the most famous empires that stretched all across Europe influencing countless civilazations... o yea ROME!!  So obviously your going to see things that look western, because thats what western architecture is based on.  So please don't talk about learning about Rome when you obviously have forgotten some of its power.dun dun dun

    i'm assuming by western you mean western world as in Europe/U.S.A and stuff in comparison to eastern world such as Asia/Middle East.  Although i realize that if you meant western America then i am completely wrong in my statement to you.  So my apologies if this is true.

    it is in the right hand of the screen, in an open builidng with a column. I hope this is the shot which has had so much criticism. However although i found the offending screenshot I would like to tell everyon thath its part of a mosaic pattern on the floor of a room. The background is orange as apposed to red/burgundy(?) I feel you have blown a small thing totally out of prportion and that Gods&Heroes will be  fantastic game that will bring new blood to the MMORPG world!
