Few Questions (Community, Death penalty, Space)

WillowwhispWillowwhisp Member Posts: 32

I've been playing this game for a day or so now, probably about 4 hours total. Anyway, I'm having fu nbut a few questions:

1) Is the community as bad as it seems when you start? From what I saw in the port talking it seemed like alot of little kids 'leet speaking'. Does it get better higher up or was I just having a bit of bad luck?

2) Is there a death penalty? Currently doing a mission where I find myself dying alot (which is a good thing IMO, it's forcing me to adjust from simply chasing my opponent and keeping my position out of their line of fire to avoiding being hit hard) but I can see no visible penalty. Does the penalty kick in at a higher level and early on simply not exist?

3) Does this actually go into Space? Starting to think it doesn't since one of the player types can do ground offence but it'd be nice to know.

Edit: Oh yeah, question 4) Is there a way to put the game in Windowed Mode?

There are always exceptions, but on the whole the SCO community is generally helpful and supportive.

There is a penalty when you die from npcs / mobs or crashing into the environment, but it does not begin until level 16.  The penalty reduces SPI (currency), but if you have no SPI it will decrease XP.

    3) Does this actually go into Space? Starting to think it doesn't since one of the player types can do ground offence but it'd be nice to know.

Yes, it does go into space.  Those areas are accessible at level 50+.

I don’t believe there is a way to play SCO other than “full screen” mode, but I could be mistaken.

    1) The community is a mix of idiots and nice people, you'll get plenty of idiots and lots of nice people in Trimus. "leet speaking" little kids? What server are you on X_x? It does depend though on what server your on and such cause there's probably different levels of the community being good or having a crud load of idiots.

    2) Death penalty starts I believe when you join ANI or BCU. Depending on what level you are, you'll lose an exact amount of money for every time you die. If you don't carry the amount of money required for repair after you die, you'll lose experience instead.

    3) The game at around level 5x does have maps where you can go in space and even on the moon. There's one level 2x (or was it level 3x) mission called Nightmare where you go to Chaos which is space. And there's more space maps you can train at at around level 6x.

    4)Unfortunately there's no windowed mode..

    Anyway have fun ^^!
