OK I know alot of people are tired of all the bitching about the bans some are sick of the bans. But I am one of those opinionated people who like to make my opinion know.
First World of Warcraft is a great game. PvP in this game is near flawless (opinion) it has beautiful graphics and is a fun game to play. It has depth and generally a great community.
My only issue with the game is Blizzard and there banfests. The huge rash of bans justified or not in my opinion are a complete waste of time. I am sure many many people will disagree with me but I will explain why.
I have never been band Yet
but I do have 4 friends that have been 2 for third party software 1 for account sharing and the last because when he came to my hous in NV. from FL. he logged in on his account from my house.
Now the first 3 I called morons and said "I told you so" "you deserved it" and "MORON'' but the case of my friend from FLorida was nonsense and he like the other 3 never got his account restored. Why? Because all 4 went out and bought another set of WoW dvd's. Now does every single person who gets banned love the game so much they are willing to do this? NO! But Blizzard counts on the majority of them doing it, and I would estimate at least 50% do (although Im betting its higher).
As far as the "gold farmers" I gaurantee they are going to replace every single one of their accounts that get banned as long as WoW has the customer base it does they are going to make money and will buy the game disks in bulk. Once again for those of you that think Blizzard doesn't know and rely on this your kidding yourself.
They dont ban accounts to "keep game play true" or to "protect what they made" they do it for money.
Understand I would like to believe diffrent and if you can sway me try I figure on a few flames I can take it. so give me some input tell me why Im wrong or tell me what I missed it could be worse than I thought

there isn't enough banning imo......but yeah, that example of your friend logging on at your house makes no sense.
I'm pretty sure that isn't against the eula. I don't think you are getting the whole story from your friend.
What is wrong with account sharing? I have an account and my youngest son has an account and my oldest son has an account. That is three accounts!!!
We are always playing each others accounts at different times. Sometimes I will play my oldest sons account and sometimes he will play my youngest sons account. We have been switching now for 2 years back and forth and never once did we get banned.
I see nothing wrong with doing that.
I once would never have expected to say this - once enjoying WOW myself. Blizzard is a greedy, arrogant, self-righteous company. Mind ya, this has nothing to do how I like or not like WOW. It's just about the company. They are not communicative and top arrogant.
All this moral crusades and self-righteous folks complaining about this and that which should be banned. I see that drawn out all too easy by every kid whining that someone else is playing in another way, for other goals or whatever. Ya ya, its all in the EULA... bla bla bla. I could not care less. Rules are... well set by ppl who have the power the set them, they make things not good and bad in itself, they don't take our human, individual duty away to THINK and judge for ourselves what is REALLY right and wrong.
Just take gold farming: I think a majority of people here would always defend the so called free market in real life, they believe in the right of every person to do as job whatever he/she wants (unless its not killing or robbing). Most people defend the system of the market, of demand and supply, of free trade of all legal goods, or in other words: we believe in capitalism. The opposite, socialism, controlled market just a decade or so ago fell. We have SEEN where a controlled market leads to: it doesn't function.
So, WHAT are chinese gold farmers do other than finally follow those American values of free market and capitalism? What is in demand has a market. USA advocates to free the market in other nations, US government always complains against nations who close their markets to US products and US corporations. Naturally only as long as the idea works for the BENEFIT of USA. As soon as some French or Chinese or whatever nation DARES to buy holy American corporations (as happend in game industry) all those free market advocates in US suddenly cry out "that wasnt what we wanted with free market". I am sick of this bigotry, this pharisean self-righteousness. Either free market is right or not, for all or no one, everywhere or nowhere.
Now dont DARE to come with "oohh, but gold farming so has ruined the prices" Goddamn, I KNOW it has, I suffer from it as much as anyone. But look out: thats whats going on in RL economy everywhere. That is the result of the ideals we stood for: that free demand and supply balances out in the long run. Things get expensive or cheap by the same simple, unbreakable laws of economy, in games and out of them. WHAT is REALLY disturbing the market is that in every MMO there is a part NOT free market. (Take mounts, usually sold by set prices.) If you give all items to free market in a game, it WOULD balance out. In SWG for example, where housing and mounts are crafted, there is inflation, yes. BUT: while everything is more expensive in numbers, everyone is richer in credits, so the result is, the value of things has NOT risen. In a partially controlled economy like WOW or EQ2 however this free flow is mainly disturbed by "money sinks", who are controlled prices, which essentially is socialism.
YOU kept telling the world, that finding a market niche and exploiting it to the max is good and drives the world, NOW dont the heck complain if the world finally DOES that.

why doesn't blizzard offer advanced characters for $$$ as EA is offering for ultima online? they take, i think $30 for a character that is, say ca level 40.
that should take care of a lot of powerleveling services....
Jumpgate has something called "Pilot Commission" Where you pay a one time fee of 19 or 29 dollars, cant remember, and you start with a level 26 pilot license and can fly fighters.
I've had plenty of people log into their accounts from my house. Never been a problem for me yet.
I recently lent my account to friend (who has his own account too), and he is playing my tank for a while rather than level up a new one of his own.
I hope that isn't going to be a problem when I buy Burning Crusade and wish to play it again. If it is I shall simply refund myself the game/sunscription price via my credit card.
As far as I'm concerned, it's my account and I can let anyone I like use it. Blizzard still gets their money.
Should Blizzard not agree, then Blizzard still gets their money part of that statement becomes untrue.
Account sharing is not the same as using one game to PC to log multiple accounts (at different times, that is).
Account sharing is having multiple PCs logged on to one account at the same time.
Accounts are tracked by your username/password. If I log into my account say at a friend's house, and my wife logs in at the same time under the same username/password, the computers at Blizzard notice. This is probably what happened to the guy.
It sounds innocent enough in this case, but Blizzard is right in banning people who let their friends install and play the game under their account name. That's no different than burning him a copy of a DVD. And with "7 million" subscribers, they can't really afford to take the guy's word for it.
account and when someone is not. IPs(your computer address on the
internet) arent a reliable source of pinning down your geolocation. Im
guessing there are other methods involved in this. But I keep hearing
people are logging in from other computers and no problems. I personaly
moved once and changed providers 3-4 times, and never had problems with
WoW. Its extremely hard to believe that Bliz would ban people ONLY for
logging onto your account from a dif computer. There must be something
else your friend is not telling u about.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

A lot of the "rules" such as age limitations and account sharing are there to cover the companies butt. As an example the gold farmers nearly all share accounts. So you can easily ban them on that finite rule rather then trying to say "farming gold" is vs the ToS.
