The Wraith, viable PC

apocalanceapocalance Member UncommonPosts: 1,073

I believe the wraith would totally be a viable player character option. Why? If you look at the episodes, they're not immortal or over impressive. You certainly don't want them getting right on top of you, but they appear to be quite average or less than average when it comes to ranged attack and movement. Again, if they get on top of you, forget about it...

IMO, very balanced race. I don't know what worlds Stargate Worlds will have access to, but if the wraith are in the game, it would be bad having players able to play as them.

so...

lol are you actually serious? The wraith as a PC, better ships, better weapons, and amazing natural strength and attacks...

Yea ballanced, when you ballance it against a Goa'uld, Nox, Replicators,  or the Ori.

ive also thought about this, it could work.  but at the same time...

how many aliens are "balanced" with humans.

aliens are allways shown to be more advanced, more powerful, stronger.  etc.

humans allways have things like, versatality(sp), spirit, and being crafty.

so if you wanna say a human based, vampiric like race wont be balanced with humans?  how do Ronon, Teyla, and Shepard kill like 50 of em every episode?

Because the writers wrote it like that ?

It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

Apparently you aren't watching the same Atlantis episodes I am. Did you not watch the episode (Sateda) where Ronon took out squads of Wraith by himself and then with a little help took out many, many, more?

That was honestly what gave me the idea. I had seen the team take out wraith before, but that episode made them look more like trash mobs then tough players. And like I said, you don't want to let them get on top of you.. especially in a boss fight. ::::14::

    so...

Common people get sensible having the wraith as playable chars would unbalance the game so bad - yes i agree it would be cool but so would me comming into orbit with my azcar mothership to wipe all life out on it imagine my PVP  rating then .

You assume as a wraith you would be able to command such a ship. It's possible that to balance that out, the largest ship you would have access to would be comparable to the other fleet ships available -- assuming there are fleet ships available to players. Cancelling out the wraith as playable characters because they have big ships is like saying you can't play humans because they always win at SG (Mov 1 atl).

Even the wraiths smaller ship's have site to site telleporters - not only that but the humans weapons in most episodes are pretty usless against the wraiths ability to self heal - i do agree some things would be cool to see in game E.G. replicator attack events but making these PC would set humans at an unbalanced disadvantage.

If anything, the Atlantis universe will most likely be an expansion and NOT a part of the initial release. Therefore, no wraith yet.

I have been a long time follower of Stargate, and honeslty, wasn't all too excited about the announcement of the MMO. I would love to play the game if the Wraith were a PC. IMO that would be fantastic!

Wraith are like Daleks from Dr. Who or Cylons from the original Battlestar Galactica. They are overpowered at first, but they end up falling like cards later.

I think the wouldn't make a good viable PC. Why? Because you would have to constantly feed. What happens if you can't get a meal? You are too weak to fight? Take your people with you, for a quick snack?

I think it could work u just gate to a populated world (with a nice little town of low tech people) and feed.

But I still would prefer humans, Jaffa or Tok'Ra as PC

I'd like to play a wraith character, run about in my Dart, scooping up hoards of fresh food, think of the Harem one would have, and feed on the rest...

Besides we know they fall like blades of grass only due to "it's in the script" so as to make shepard look good for the chicks.

As for overpowered, um.. Gua'old Ori, Replicators, Humans. Each has strengths and weakness, but the RP for Wraith is just as possible as 'False Gods. Their inclusion into possible characters for players has already begun remember Michael? or the one who escaped from the Geni camp with shepard?

SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011

Kinda like the soul shard system the warlock class has in WoW?

I think in order to make the wraith a viable PC is to make sure you seperate them into different clans... Becasue after all Wraith are teritorial... And that is one of the major reasons why the atlantians havn't been slaughtered. So if Waith were PC you wou have some sort of alliance/grudge/hate with other clans of the wraith.

wraith would be a fantastic thing to add in, you always have to have a
very dark and mysterious(as the wraith are) race, why not the wraith?

they could have some race specific skills too..like, kill(or stun as
must wraith weapons are) someone/thing(pvp or pve), you can do the life
sucking thing, should give you health, action(or w.e they use to use
your skills), or maybe a buff?.....

plus, i just LOVE the wraith
