Im hopeful because just like the series they said the parties will be based on four players, just like the SG teams. That also make me hopeful there wont be /afk /follow raids, where a bunch of people watching tv and talking on the phone mash a couple buttons and then collects epics. They very specifically described it as "infantry combat". It sounds like as a team you are securing areas, not just pulling a mob, gank it and rinse and repeat. So hopefully the emphasis will be on strategy, positioning, using cover fire, smoke screens, etc. That also leads me to believe the system wont be so much hp/ac, so much as leveling up arms skills which in turn lets you use better weapons. Perhaps you get 1 hour abilities that let you call in an airstrike?
When Warcraft became an MMOG, it abandoned its RTS roots, relying on pull and gank style combat, like most mmogs. Im hoping combat in SGW will do just the opposite.
what would and could make this a cool game, since there will be PVP aswell. Permitting the inhabitants of the planets to build there own city's and forts. Not only a battle between the diffrent races via other planets, but some planets where diffrent races build up and try to take controll of that planet for its resources. mmm modern Sci-Fi seige warfare
Also want to take it to the next level. Make the planets "maps" round, and not flat like all other currect games. Would give flying a ship a entire new purpose. Always wanted to see a round world done, never seen it but in a game called populous but that was a RTS
Freaking sweet! It was only a matter of time for them to think up a Stargate mmorpg. looking to be a gathering a good group of devs. geeze, they are so many good mmorpgs coming out, i was wondering which one to choose. I think this one is a pretty big prime candidate.
1. this is probably going on recent season but where is Jack O'neal in it?he retired to a cabin or somethin like that in the SG-1 series so that mean we won't see him?
2. will we be able to travel all over ALL the worlds?like would we be able to go to new york and stuff in Earth or look for temples on the other planets?
3. Ranks....if were part of the SGC how will we advance in ranks?missions?or do we just get a set rank for whatever job we get like if were a grunt we get stuck with lieutenant or sergeant or however.
This could be very very interesting. BTW im also fan of the show as well as the movie the movie was very very good

I dunno. While The Matrix Online was okish and I love the Stargate Series, an mmo? Will this be another Planetside? Or are we playing Jaffa/Ori/name your race of the week? I mean honestly, half the appeal of stargate was the SGC? So guns? Wonder how they are going to approach this...
I think all the hype surrounding this game is absurd.
The shows sucked, the movie could have and should have been much more epic, no one's given a first hand preview of the game and/or published any material concerning what the game will be like, but there's all ready a plethora of SG fanbois talking about how great this games gonna be.
Am I the only person that thinks this is kinda foolish and ironic?
Whatever... I hated the shows and I don't have any interest in this game.
I just wanted to weigh in and throw my 2 cents in because I'm tired of the hype for this game on this site when no one's seen what the gameplay and/or mechanics are going to be.
We've got this, and Star Trek: Online. 2 MMO's based on shows with huge fanbases, the devs have got a lot riding on them, so I don't think they would put out a mediocre game.
