Is DAoC noobie friendly?

When I say "noobie friendly" I dont mean will people hate me for being new, i mean if i get an account and start a new char will there be players my level to help me or will it all be high levels and no1 for me to play wiv? :)

I used to play EverQuest but i quit it for awhile, when I went back to it I found i couldn't start a new char because there were no low levels at all (the ones that were low were only used as maul to sell) and its not a game to solo.
IS DAoC anything like this?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Just be sure to pick a Classic server (If youre playing on the us servers)
You can choise from gareth ector or lamorak. You will learn to realm jump between them.
Or you can just pick Gareth becouse it's the biggest realm.

It's hard to come in as a noob if you do not have pations. The first day / days.
Try to learn by looking what other newb's and player does. It's alot to think about
and alot of places to go, things you could do.

First you need to do is to make a character and pull him up to lvl 20-24 and enter a battleground. Then enjoy the game for a while and decide if it's worth while.

Play on the Classic servers and you will find plenty of people to level up with.  Or... start off with one of the classes that can easily solo, such as a Necromancer, Vampiir, or Warlock.

You could roll a sought after support class like speeders, (i.e. Minstrels, Bards, and Skalds) or one of the many healing classes.

A good tank is always sought after, but they are expensive to gear up as a first character....

The casting classes are allegedly over powered according to most people, but some are a real blast to play, like Theurigists, Light Elds and BoneDancers.

I'd recommend you stay away from the two stealthing classes, Archers such as Scouts, Rangers and Hunters or thier hand to hand counterparts, Infiltrators, Nightshades and Shadowblades.  While these classes are fun to pvp with, they are not group friendly, and you'll spend a lot of time alone.

    True, true.  . .
I say play what you feel like, but it's hell of alot more fun to get more melee classes in the game and alot less casters. If you like both there allways classes like Thane that cast thors lightning and wack em with a hammer. wearing heavy armor and a nice shield

I think the Thanes hammer spell is the best effect in the game... I love seeing it fall .....well, except when its on top of my head....image

You shoudl decide on what playstyle fits you and what you primary focus
is going to be RvR or PvE.  Honestly, healers are probably the
most sought after in a group of PvE and RvR.

Tanks are not a good choice.  In PvE you are a meat shield while
the casters do all of the damage.  In RvR, you have very little
role at all.  You can run siege equipment and you can do the whole
8 man group thing.  But, RvR is all about range.  This means
archers & casters are greater than tanks.  I have been in many
groups in RvR, and I have almost never had a need nor a desire to group
with a tank class.  I want a mezzer, a healer, or a damage
dealer.  I honestly feel sorry for tank classes because there is
such little role for them in RvR.

If you want to RvR, like to be in groups or solo, then you are best to
go with an archer class.  You will suck at RvR until level 50 and
you will not have a useful role in PvE (and might have group problems
but that is what you get a guild to PL you) but once you hit 50 you
will dominate and have lots of fun.  Assassins used to be able to
keep archers in check, but changes made a few years ago have made
playing assassins worthless of 50.  I know of almost no one that
does it and those that used to switched to archers.  The only way
to have fun with an assassin at 50 is to play on the classic server and
travel with a group of them and bridge camp.

But what you should do is pick a type of class that you think fits your
play style.  The first classes int eh game are the easiest to
    play.

Just make whatever you want except a stealth class or a vampiir,no one likes vampiirs :p and as it has been said there is no use for stealth classes.

I tend to disagree with the above poster who said tanks are worthless in RVR. The new mauler class litterally owns in RVR next to vampiir. Also vampiirs are incredible in both RVR and PVE. I tried one out yesterday. went from level 1(new) to level 23 in one day. PVE I could chain yellows the entire time non-stop in nothing more than green and grey gear. Could only imagine if I had good gear.

Also a note, the best farming classes in game bar-none are mana enchanters and vampiir. Both are hiberian classes.

I watched a friend with his mana chanter farm 1800 aurelite from catacombs in about 30 minutes. A impossible feat with most classes. A vampiir can solo red cons non stop at 50 as well. Something to think about too. Most people who hate vampiir play another realm(get the beat down on a continuous basis). Midgard or albion. Just ignore the albs though. They suck and always will. Albs remind me of zerglings in starcraft. I have complete respect for Mid though. If you want a challenge play mid. They have fun classes and are extremely tough in RVR.

Actually, one could make a case that the Necromancer in Albion is the top solo Pve'er in the game.  At certainly at least on PAR with Vamp.  But they are no fun at RvR....

New mauler is great...till they get around to nefing it...

Mana chanters are great pve'er as well, not so much in RvR (except it blast groups)

My recent experience in Molvik was a bit different as well.  The Mids tend to do one thing... charge in a mass zerg..and they died like dogs over and over.  Was getting a bit sad when I was only getting like 3 pts per kill from them. (all of them)

The albs on the other hand were quite crafty, using Mezz to great effect and at least when we killed them they were worth more pts (like 45 or 50)

Stick to Classic servers (with no /level 20) and you'll be fine. There is always people leveling up alts, as well as a clutch of new players.
As always, a good guild (and alliance of guilds) will take the whole pain out of the situation. Took one guy in our guild about a week or so of play to hit 50 (and he was not playing some insane 24/7); he was helped a bit, and given a fair bit of loot, but mostly leveled up in groups.

Like people have already said, make sure to create a character on the classic servers. This way there will be people of all levels to play with since they can't /level 20. I played on Gareth and loved it. Also where people helping you out is concerned I always found the DAoC community to be a little more mature and helpful than most other mmos I've played recently so if you generally ask a question in the /question channel you get a helpful answer.
